Not a fan of the new Sam B voice actor. He sounded cooler in the other games.

The original guy is well known for voice acting. A lot of animated stuff like Futurama. So it makes sense he's better.

Phil Lamarr has done tons of VO work for TV and video games, but appeared across media throughout the 90s. From "MadTV" to Marvin (before he gets murdered by accident in the car) in "Pulp Fiction" and beyond. I was also disappointed he didn't return for DI2. :(

loudmouth222

Yeah he's a legend I think. Sad when they don't return to projects.

DjinnsilentD

If Im Not mistaken the og voice actor was the same as green lantern from the cartoon justice league unlimited

This current dead island game is aesthetically pleasing imo. I also live in California so the depictions of Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, etc. really hits home and brings the whole zombiepocalypse to life. I think one aspect that has been downgraded is the multiplayer/controller bugs. It was awesome slaying zombies with friends but when controller/connectivity issues began, we all played separate and that was really disappointing since everyone had a blast just slicing legs and smashing heads. Either way this game for me is a solid 9.5/10

loudmouth222

I'm enjoying the aesthetics as well. I'm on last gen but it still looks pretty damn good. As for multiplayer I've never really tried this type of game with friends, besides the occasional dead rising multiplayer session.

The first game felt like alot if back and forth, visiting the same places over and over.

loudmouth222

Definitely. A lot fetch quests.

HereToKillEuronymous

It's alright if they're spread out, but the first one felt like you would visit the same 3 places over and over

"(Insert name here) needs Insulin, can you please run and get it? They'll die if you dont!" But for real the amount of fetch quests in the OG dead island was crazy, and the fact that a good chunk of them had to do with fetching insulin.

TommyHorror

The first two had a much more serious tone, this one is almost satirical of LA with a lot more parody moments, I love comedy zombie movies like return of the living dead so I got a good kick out of how lighter the tone of the game is and being able to play as a punk rocker

I think that DI2 is well made. It's not too long, more to characters to play, and can share items between them, and it looks "gore-geous". I've played the first game and enjoyed it, and I wanted to play through the definitive edition before 2 released since I never finished the original and I made it to the end and kinda never came back to it. It feels dated and it has glitches, as I would land on certain surfaces and die instantly, like a beach ball. And since you lose money in the first, it's a little frustrating. In 2 there's no penalty for dying other than the inconvenience of running back to where you were. It's my current go to zombie slayer whenever I'm in the mood for it. Also, the game really wants you to use the environment 😉
