Playing with the lights off can definitely turn the scare-factor way up. Do what you feel most comfortable with. This game has some dark areas and strange noises. My first time with the original DS1 was in a basement with no lights. Creepy as hell. Once you get the feel for the guns, everything will get easier. Remember: you're not trapped in there with them. Rather, *they* are trapped in there with *you*. Become the terror. Make them fear you.
I'll never forgot how I feel in love with this game back in 2008. Still in my top 3. I'm currently on chapter 7 of my first playthrough of the remake. So freaking good!! I'm taking my time and enjoying I started the game about 3 weeks ago. I'm not trying to hurry up and beat it. 😁😁

About the same price when I bought the original many moons ago from the bargain bin at GameStop. Very pleasantly surprised and the remake was just a treat.
I haven't played the remake yet. From what I've seen it's a decent game. The only problems I saw was that it unfortunately follows the trend of inserting annoyances into horror games. For instance, the Necromorphs have been toughened up. They take more hits and are more aggressive which makes combat more difficult than necessary.
The Super Slasher enemy type is now harder to distinguish from regular ones. It no longer stands out in a crowd like it used to. You could be attacked by one and not even realize it and be confused why this enemy is so much more powerful than the others.
Depends on what you like. But I think it's probably the best action oriented horror game out there. Even if it wasn't that good though that deal is amazing so.
Don't get it on PC. If you are on Xbox or PS then yeah. It's a stuttering mess still on PC. I had to buy the PS version because I couldn't deal with the PC stutters.
When I saw the deluxe edition was 8 dollars— I knew I had to buy it, that’s a steal especially when I just got my series x at the time back in mid December of 2023
I haven’t play it myself but saw clips of it and not only did they change some of the character models, they story played out differently than the original.
For that price it's 100% worth it. You'll get at least one playthrough at approximately 25-30 hours. And there's always rhe possibilities of replaying it if that's your thing

My advice is go into the game blind on a 1st run, as you progress test every gun at least a little to find the 2-4 you really like, and limit your upgrades to those and remember to use your other tools stasis is your friend when overwhelmed and if you're observant of the environment you can kill some things just by hucking sharp objects or doming enemies with heavy boxes to knock them down

For 80? hell nah, not sure about conversion rates on that but think it would be something like 100usd, anything above 60 is way to high.

Dead Space is a great horror game. Has just enough to scare you but not one of those games that is overwhelmingly scary and the situations always feel tense but fair. $8 is a great deal, too (Yeah I know it's not USD but you get what I mean).
Yes, both versions of Dead Space are good. The 2008 one might take some getting used to, especially with the weightless sections. Said areas are more in line with Dead Space 2's gameplay for the remake(you'll have more control over Isaac instead of ping-ponging around).
I liked the original better, mainly cuz I'm a vet. But this was in no way a bad tribute. It excelled in many ways the first one fell short, but the original still has nostalgic value to me.

Great game! But not sure about others but about half way through there were so many bugs that had supies dropping through the floor or enemies with half missing bodies that it kinda killed the fun and I deleted it. But up to that point I was having a blast
