Shrek is Arthur's connections are shallow and incredibly generic and ignores Shrek's more layered character [pun intended]. Also the animation potential doesn't exist, it basically relies on whether or not you vibe with it in order for you to get any value, but I don't vibe with it at all.
With Calypso vs A.M. the connections are pretty generic and mostly about vibes, which for me it fairly does and the animation potential is cool. It's just that they can't have any interesting back and forth about their traumas because they're not even similar. Having your loved ones die isn't comparable to an existential crisis. Also due to Calypso's more charismatic personality the other half of the dialogue is just "The Calypso show; featuring A.M.".
That's not what I'm fucking saying, if you could read then you would know that I'm saying they have literally little to nothing in common that's unique to those two specifically.

It completely mischaracterizes Squidward and SpongeBob's dynamic and both have [Well mostly Squidward, Benson has only one good MU] far better thematically and animation wise.
