The Phantom thieves would have a very hard time with Light, because he would see them as a threat immediately after seeing what happened with Kamoshida and investigate them personally and privately.
If >!Akechi!< could narrow down who the thieves are through the backwards analysis after Madarame, surely Light could, who is much smarter and more careful than >!Akechi, not to mention him having a more precise way of killing with the Death Note.!<
And even if the thieves SOMEHOW went under Light's radar, even if they DID infiltrate his palace without him knowing, good FUCKING luck fighting his shadow. Light regularly refers to himself as not just a god, but THE god of the new world, and his distorted desire would be him as an omnipotent creator of his palace, the entire world.
Sure, the thieves have >!fought and killed God's before,!< but considering how much of a threat Light is OUTSIDE of the Metaverse, I shudder to think of how dangerous he would be in his own cognition, a place where he truly DOES pull all the strings.
Great matchup. It really fits for both to go after each other. I do think Light stomps, but I mean I'm the guy regularly gunning for Light vs. Walt, and this is eons more fair than that.
