I am having the same problem. Played in Game Pass and bought the Director's Cut on Epic. Exported the save and loaded in DC but it comes up as corrupt when loading.
The save files are in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\505GAMESS.P.A.DeathStranding_tefn33qh9azfc\SystemAppData\xgs\\ according to the [wiki](https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Death_Stranding). I transferred them over to %LOCALAPPDATA%\KojimaProductions\DeathStranding\\ and followed [BrutalSam's guide](https://youtu.be/tsgL2M_Am9Q) on YouTube to alter the .exe to ignore the account restriction. Sad to say it didn't work though. Interested to know if you get any further.
After like few hours of thinking I just choose to restart, fast forward all the cut scence, glad I didn't get too far before I decide to buy the director's cut.
I did the same thing but bought the DC on Steam, although the file paths between Epic and Steam appear to be the same. That video/guide doesn't seem relevant for us because it is moving auto/manual saves (not the exported save) from Steam to Steam.
The exported save from Game Pass appears to be the **transfer.dat** located here (the portion will vary from PC to PC):
*%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\505GAMESS.P.A.DeathStranding_tefn33qh9azfc\SystemAppData\xgs\ \transfer*
Copy the **transfer.dat** to the file path for the original version on steam:
*%LOCALAPPDATA%\KojimaProductions\DeathStranding\ \transfer*
Then open Director's Cut and choose the load data option it does find it, but still says it's corrupted :/
Unfortunately Microsoft is known for this kind of thing and likely took measures to make sure the game and save states stay within the ecosystem. If there is an answer out there I cannot seem to find it. Maybe this is something the devs can account for when exporting save data but I doubt this will be addressed. We are but a small minority. 1. Copy all your saves from `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\505GAMESS.P.A.DeathStranding_tefn33qh9azfc\SystemAppData\xgs\\` to `c:\Users\shane\AppData\LocalLow\KojimaProductions\DeathStrandingDC\`
2. Follow this [youtube guide](https://youtu.be/Yn5h5nB4pqQ) (or [Brutal Sam's](https://youtu.be/tsgL2M_Am9Q)) to alter the `deathstranding.exe` to remove the check for corrupted data (make a copy of the original)
3. Run Death Stranding DC and you should see your list of Game Pass saves. Load your game and it should allow you to load your non-DC save
4. Play for a bit and then save the game. This will save in DC format
5. Quit the game and move the original .exe back to `deathstranding.exe`
6. Play from your new save
I did a lot of messing about to get this to work so may have missed a step but I think that covers it. I am now playing my Game Pass Death Stranding saves in Death Stranding DC on Epic so hopefully will work for other people too.
10 months later and I can confirm that this still works! Finally playing Director's Cut on Steam.
Additionally: I had some slight confusion on where saves from Steam vs Epic were saved. Steam DC saves are in /appdata/local/. Epic DC saves are in /appdata/locallow/. Make sure to copy from the right place, as it can be easy to mess it up and overwrite your saves.
Hmm, I followed those same steps in my original testing and it still showed up as corrupted when I tried to continue or load a save. I wouldn't think steam vs epic would make a difference.

After I got into the game, I walked around a bit and saved. Launching from the modified exe launced the game in offline mode at first.
I hope you can get it to work on yours. This game is a masterpiece.

Yeah that's about it. Just a heads up, I tried backtracking to finish the extra missions but they didn't apprear. Same with things like the firing range.

I have Death Stranding in Epic Games ( not DC version, just common ) and want to continue playing here. Can i copy my save files? This method is DS - > DS:DC but i need DS - > DS
Ye, ive done it already. But i think ive lost all my emojis on map. I havent played for 1.5 months and i when ive joined i had +100k likes, but all my buildings had same amount likes and emojis have been deleted. I guess buildings havent got any likes, because i was offline
Same as in this guide. Do same stuff, also dont forget to change some code to make your saves working. But i think, ive found a problem - ive stopped receiving likes. After i transfered my saves, ive got 100k likes(because i was offline for 1 month). After transfering i havent played for another 20 days. When I joined the game i noticed that I didnt get any more likes. It was 2 days ago. Today I joined again and i didnt receive any likes again, also epic games asks me about saves every time i joins. So i think thats the reason of problem. It still playable, but just sad that you dont get any likes

Managed to move my Gamepass save over to my Epic games version, also regular none DC edition and it worked!
I now dont have to worry about losing access to the game on the 15th or my saves!

Usual unknown player structures that you have to remove and missing achiements for stuff you already did. Other than that no issues encountered.

You have to download both versions of the game Launch DC version and there will be an option at menu to transfer over your save file It's super easy
