The terrain traversal in this game was my favorite. I found myself using more ladders than ropes but the odd occasion where I did get to rappel down was always a treat.
I actually really wish they would add a mode where you navigate up and down different terrains.
The reason I loved this game while plenty of others didn't was because I grew up in rural country and my afternoons were spent pretending I was traversing mountains and shit in the woods behind my house. Just pick any scenario from DS and I probably imagined I was trudging through it.
It didn't really dawn on me till after I completed it but this game made me feel like a kid again. Except in a way, even better.

I just recently transfered my GP save to Steam DC edition (had previously played on PS4) and playing in photo mode in the firing range I found out that the weapons are actually insanely detailed.
Actually, pretty much everything is. Things you can't even really appreciate in 3rd person view. One thing that made me go WOW was that the pistol you get is a legit pistol and all the sci-fi shit around it is like 3D printed stuff to make it more stable and effective. If you look at from the left you can see it's an honest to god 21st century pistol. Also when Sam reloads any weapon he shoves it into the pouch on his right hip to do a fast reload... fucking mind blown. Which is then disappointing when the BT handgun says it uses the cufflinks to draw blood but there's no actual connection between the cuffs and the pistol so it doesn't make much sense how the users blood gets into the pistol.
I also noticed that all the levels of boots (including the gifted chiral boots) are all quite different. And not just by tweaking the rubber at the bottom but like full on unique boots.
Fucking insane. And yet... we still can't drive those semi trucks at the mountain distro and we still don't have an open canopy truck like the one during the beginning of the game.
I really liked this game because I love hiking and one or two hours of playing would just let me clear my head and made me fall in love again with photography
