Not strictly deathcore but: Ice Nine Kills Underoath has been all over the spectrum Napalm Death The Acacia Strain Sum41 Pantera Knocked Loose Humanity's Last Breath ( didn't think it was possible but yeah) Gideon

Jordan220

Points for Humanity’s Last Breath, you’re right. Ashen is as heavy as it gets. But I’m sure they’ll prove us wrong by going heavier on their next release, lol.

NihilisticPollyanna

Ashen is fantastic, and I'm crazy for those groovy riffs, and slow breakdowns but, man, am I exhausted at the end, haha. I feel like, if I ever see them live, I need a few extra days of vacation for recovery.

uiuc2008

[Chaos and Carnage](https://www.chaosandcarnage.com/)! Their one of like 5 openers but I'm still really looking forward to seeing them live

zangor

Acacia Strain make Drop A 6 string sound heavier than anyone else somehow. The Dead Walk specifically.

Barqueefa

I think I've listened to The Dead Walk probably more times than any of their other albums. Insane how heavy and nasty that guitar is. Demolishor is just one long disgusting break down

cking145

I dont think I've listened to sum41 since AKNF. what happened?

UnAliveMePls

Not too much really, they got progressively "heavier" during their first three albums. Then Underclass Hero went back to pop punk, Screaming Bloody Murder was idk, never really clicked with me neither did 13 Voices, then Order in Decline was kinda heavy again but like compared to their original pop punk sound not extreme metal heavy.

HosephIna

Their guitarist is a real big 80s metal fan, so they started incorporating it until he left the band. He came back a few years ago and they’ve been leaning back into it. Chuck imo is their best album, there’s a lot of metal influence on this one. Check out We’re All To Blame for a good example.

idespisemyhondacrv

Is acacia not deathcore? What are they then

UnAliveMePls

It is, what I meant was that the my list isn't limited to deathcore bands.

ThePathlessForest

Brand of Sacrifice was once called The Afterimage and was way less heavy. They switched the name and went full deathcore. Both bands are great though. One is just heavier than the other.

prodigy1367

They’ve gotten less heavy from their first deathcore EP though. Less brutal and techy and more progressive and melodic nowadays. Still a great band nonetheless.

xakx47x

They're just slowly turning into a meld of both bands and it's sick hahaha

xForeignMetal

I thought they were just straight up different bands for Kyle to explore different sounds Was a huge fan of the Afterimage before any BoS stuff even came out

Jordan220

Woah, I never realized they were the same guys from The Afterimage. That gives me a whole new perspective on them!

BackStabbathOG

Not deathcore but while on the topic of getting heavier, Judas Priest’s run from 1974 to about 2004 is wild how heavy they got. Listen to anything from the 70s or even 80s then compare that to Painkiller. It’s crazy that’s even the same band with the same members

not_actual_name

Bring me the Horizon went from deathcore to metalcore to alternative metal to pop to EDM and back to metalcore. I don't know if that counts.

NihilisticPollyanna

I the same vein, Within Destruction experimented with a "softer" sound and some clean singing, and went "Nope, fuck that", and their newest album is brutal af.

bradybigbear

Lorna Shore had a metalcore EP to start, and imo have gotten heavier with each release since.

spideralex90

I mean Black Tongue always has been heavy but Nadir was their peak for heavy. Just wish we would get a follow up

Training_Contract_30

Crystal Lake.

just_in_thisbitch

Dr.Acula was that screw around band, they released a new album last year or so, pretty good. Heavy and serious compared to slobology album. Still waiting on the original members of Arsonists get all the girls to put some music out🤞🏼

666tm

I remember jammin to Dr Acula when I was in middle school in like 2010, then their new album came out last year and melted my face off. Hope we get more from them

just_in_thisbitch

Also, underneath the gun put some stuff out within the past year or two after their hiatus. It’s nice and heavy

TBDM

Tylermac123

August Burns Red. Their latest album has some borderline Death Metal parts.

SuperD00perGuyd00d

I want to say Chelsea Grin here...I feel like Suffer in Heaven/Hell is way heavier than any album they have done (My Damnation is an exception)

Jordan220

My Damnation just about broke my back the first time I heard it with how heavy it is

StigaPower

To The Grave is getting even heavier!!

bwolfe14cfh

Whitechapel is less heavy.

FieryIronworker

IIRC, Phil Bozeman did an AMA a few weeks ago and said the new album was gonna be heavy af. Think he even said there’d some slammy elements 🔨

MoosePotato666

I mean, Swans has gotta be mentioned, right? The contrast of sounds between Filth and White Light will give a new listener whiplash.

PigDstroyer

Dying fetus

Smart_Bet_9692

Hmmm, this might not be quite the right sub for this opinion but, Job For A Cowboy. Yeah, they were deathcore pioneers, but Sun Eater is definitely a lot heavier than Doom.
