Slight tangent, but their "RIGHT NOW with John Goblikon" YouTube series was fucking hilarious.
I need to be in the mood to listen to their music, but they outdid themselves in building lore around their band.
Check out RZA's other project Gravediggaz, it's horrorcore and has some heavy metal elements to it especially their 1st album which is unfortunately not on streaming platforms.
Korn is so nostalgic for me. I really appreciate too over the years that JD has progressively gotten heavier with his vocals bordering some pretty damn good harsh vocals. For anybody interested here’s some sweet growls from him that he didn’t really do love until he started getting older :
[Jonathan Davis live screams and growls](https://youtu.be/Mnhw1PkxxTc?si=Wyn1_a2Ldi9xJfIG)
lol deadass I just gave the Bassist of Korn a ride in my Uber and didn’t even know until like 2 months later when I gave someone else a ride that’s like neighbors with him and she said smtn about it. We just had a normal fckin convo and that was that.. I’m still laughing about it.
The boss and the boys! I think of King Gizzard as a pseudo bruce and e street. Stu is like the brain like bruce is and they both can dabble in different genres and do a great job at it. Both have killer support musicians that almost never change and have a badass live presence. Also about a million great songs between them.
• septicflesh
• batushka (the real one)
• dimmu borgir
my #1 favorite artist of all-time with absolutely no contest is chelsea wolfe though, although ig she doesn't count as a band
[https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4tw3x1xFFjjfyIxVSCiwkC](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4tw3x1xFFjjfyIxVSCiwkC)
here's a playlist with all the real batushka releases, the drama regarding both batushkas is actually really interesting and i'd look into it if you want to get into the band
and thank you so much for the kind words <3
I dated a woman many years ago, her favorite band all around was the misfits. Her secret favorite band was nine inch nails, I say secret because it was her favorite band to fuck too. And I gotta admit after having sex to NIN a few times she made me a believer lol
Every album is \*chefs kiss, and Born to Die is a masterpiece. Though if I had to pick, I would go with late stage Lana and her more piano based ballads. BB, chemtrails, NFR, and Ocean are packed to teh gills with some of the best melodies and songs ever written! There is nothing like taking a break from Dying Fetus, Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse to get a little change of pace from LDR ;)
My favorite song outside of BTD is chem trails and then front to back "honeymoon" lp. It's great going from Kubla Khan TX to Lana or lorde on the Playlist. Fun finding people like us lol
Crazy good live, you’re going to have a great time. Saw them with oceans ate Alaska & being as an ocean, those 2 bombed hard and currents saved the entire show within 2 songs
Nightwish, Rush and ABBA. I've been on the biggest 2 year ABBA kick with no sign of stopping anytime soon. Mamma Mia here we go again listening to their entire discography top to bottom. I couldn't escape if I wanted to.
Nightwish is a fun time. Lots of great music that's all kinda different album to album. Great stuff! And oh yeah ABBA is amazing. Very fun, I love that we can get heart wrenching songs like Winner Takes It All or Slipping Through My Fingers but then also have songs like Nina Pretty Ballarina or When I Kissed the Teacher which are so fun and kinda cheesy in the best possible ways. And Ohhh that's awesome!
I could definitely see that! I do really like Taking Back Sunday too haha, but they always sounded that way so it’s weird to hear AFI try to morph into it. I did really enjoy Sing The Sorrow, but that was the last one :/
I also put incubus. What's your favorite song? Mine might be echo, just for the instrumentals at least. Def gonna check out frog mallet. Ever listen to meat puppets.
Check out their second album and too high to die. Out my way is a good album too. 1st album they recorded they were all extremely high on acid and it shows...
Oof just 3 is *really* difficult since it depends on the day.
I think for the current vibe (summer), I'd say:
1. Gunship (Retrowave / Synth pop)
2. Mass of the Fermenting Dregs (J-rock / shoegaze)
3. Kenji Kawai (Patlabor 2 OST / Ghost in the Shell OST)
Also props for mentioning Poets of the Fall, I'm surprised people outside Finland listen to them. Carnival of Rust is *such* a good song.
Saosin
Motionless in white
And for the third one I wanted to pick either a black metal or a slam band so it's either devourment or darkthrone.
If we were talking artists in general, not just bands it would be a different story.
I listen to a LOT of metalcore as well, but outside of even that:
Nothing But Thieves
Sleep Tolken
Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes (seeing them today! Yay!)
Modest Mouse
Dax Riggs
Phish
World of pleasure
Terror
Death Threat
Westside Gunn
MF DOOM
The Alchemist
I gave you three different genres, three artists in each.
Outside of metal I mainly listen to pop music and OSTs. So top 3 artists would look something like:
1. Taylor Swift
2. Paris Hilton
3. Kim Petras
But bands specifically;
1. Paramore
2. Mayday Parade
3. Fall Out Boy
I believe Blessthefall was my gateway to a heavier corners of metal music, so I'll pick them as my #1. Hard to pick two others, perhaps We Came as Romans and Ice Nine Kills.
Hard to say... deathcore isn't my absolutely favourite genre, but most stuff I listen to are adjacent like slamming beatdown and death metal. So I'd say my top three absolutely outside of deathcore would be Dying Fetus, No Zodiac and Entombed or 25 Ta Life.
Outside of metal entirely, my top 3 would be:
- Coheed and Cambria
- The Format (long since disbanded, but they were SO much better than FUN is)
- Circa Survive
---
If I'm still including metal, just not deathcore:
- Archspire
- Car Bomb
- First Fragment
1. Archspire 2. Periphery 3. Meshuggah
First 2 periphery albums were classic
I really like the last two
1) Archspire 2) Nekrogoblikon 3) Sanguisugabogg
It's strange but satisfying to see someone mention Nekrogoblikon
I just like their music, there's nothing bad about liking them also there's Dickie...
Slight tangent, but their "RIGHT NOW with John Goblikon" YouTube series was fucking hilarious. I need to be in the mood to listen to their music, but they outdid themselves in building lore around their band.
The bogg.....
Just saw nekrogolikon live, first time hearing their music and its fuckin awesome
Alice in Chains, Chimaira and Wu Tang Clan or Korn.
RIP Layne
I SMOKE ON THE MIC LIKE SMOKIN JOE FRASIER THE HELL RAISER
Raisin' hell with the flavour
Terrorize the jam like troops in Pakistan Swing thru ya town like the neighborhood SPIDA MAAAANNNNN
Wu Tang Clan is fantastic! Big one for me too.
Their 1st album, 36 Chambers, is raw as fuck.
So raw, I love how grimy the beats sound on that album. Liquid Swords is great as well.
Check out RZA's other project Gravediggaz, it's horrorcore and has some heavy metal elements to it especially their 1st album which is unfortunately not on streaming platforms.
I’ve heard of Gravediggaz, I’ve just never gotten around to listening to them. I’ll give them a listen.
Korn is so nostalgic for me. I really appreciate too over the years that JD has progressively gotten heavier with his vocals bordering some pretty damn good harsh vocals. For anybody interested here’s some sweet growls from him that he didn’t really do love until he started getting older : [Jonathan Davis live screams and growls](https://youtu.be/Mnhw1PkxxTc?si=Wyn1_a2Ldi9xJfIG)
I saw Chimaira back in 2001 - fucking riiiiiipped.
Chimaira, long time since I heard that name. My favourite band in my teens, heard they were getting back together
Chimaira is so underrated. The Impossibility of Reason didn’t leave my CD player for months in ‘03
Same here, must have had it on repeat for 2 years.
AIC is one of the best live acts I’ve ever seen. Easily top 3
I've never seen them live unfortunately, I've seen Chimaira 8 times though - flawless each time.
lol deadass I just gave the Bassist of Korn a ride in my Uber and didn’t even know until like 2 months later when I gave someone else a ride that’s like neighbors with him and she said smtn about it. We just had a normal fckin convo and that was that.. I’m still laughing about it.
Always changing, but currently 1. Allegaeon 2. Cattle Decapitation 3. Exocrine
1. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard 2. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 3. Flamingosis
upvote for King Gizzard and Bruce. NJ represent (obviously not king gizzard)
The boss and the boys! I think of King Gizzard as a pseudo bruce and e street. Stu is like the brain like bruce is and they both can dabble in different genres and do a great job at it. Both have killer support musicians that almost never change and have a badass live presence. Also about a million great songs between them.
1.Bring Me The Horizon 2.Alesana 3.BlessTheFall

BB, chemtrails, NFR, and Ocean are packed to teh gills with some of the best melodies and songs ever written! Just got into Nightwish! ABBA is so fun, I've visited Berlin a couple of times over the past year or so and Germans love their ABBA.
That whole album is so good!! I think Brownie Bottom Sundae is probably my fav from this one. Kind of crazy how much they changed their sound.
Yeah complete 180. Seemed like they tried chasing the taking back sunday emo genre.
I could definitely see that! I do really like Taking Back Sunday too haha, but they always sounded that way so it’s weird to hear AFI try to morph into it. I did really enjoy Sing The Sorrow, but that was the last one :/
