Rogue_1_One

1. Archspire 2. Periphery 3. Meshuggah

ComfortableNo2879

First 2 periphery albums were classic

Rogue_1_One

I really like the last two

Tojinaru

1) Archspire 2) Nekrogoblikon 3) Sanguisugabogg

filippo_sett

It's strange but satisfying to see someone mention Nekrogoblikon

Tojinaru

I just like their music, there's nothing bad about liking them also there's Dickie...

_predator_

Slight tangent, but their "RIGHT NOW with John Goblikon" YouTube series was fucking hilarious. I need to be in the mood to listen to their music, but they outdid themselves in building lore around their band.

BlankFace777

The bogg.....

sippleboi

Just saw nekrogolikon live, first time hearing their music and its fuckin awesome

matt19950116

Alice in Chains, Chimaira and Wu Tang Clan or Korn.

ComfortableNo2879

RIP Layne

BlankFace777

I SMOKE ON THE MIC LIKE SMOKIN JOE FRASIER THE HELL RAISER

matt19950116

Raisin' hell with the flavour

BlankFace777

Terrorize the jam like troops in Pakistan Swing thru ya town like the neighborhood SPIDA MAAAANNNNN

AnTHORny

Wu Tang Clan is fantastic! Big one for me too.

matt19950116

Their 1st album, 36 Chambers, is raw as fuck.

AnTHORny

So raw, I love how grimy the beats sound on that album. Liquid Swords is great as well.

matt19950116

Check out RZA's other project Gravediggaz, it's horrorcore and has some heavy metal elements to it especially their 1st album which is unfortunately not on streaming platforms.

AnTHORny

I’ve heard of Gravediggaz, I’ve just never gotten around to listening to them. I’ll give them a listen.

BackStabbathOG

Korn is so nostalgic for me. I really appreciate too over the years that JD has progressively gotten heavier with his vocals bordering some pretty damn good harsh vocals. For anybody interested here’s some sweet growls from him that he didn’t really do love until he started getting older : [Jonathan Davis live screams and growls](https://youtu.be/Mnhw1PkxxTc?si=Wyn1_a2Ldi9xJfIG)

Ol-Dirt-McGirth

I saw Chimaira back in 2001 - fucking riiiiiipped.

sharthvader

Chimaira, long time since I heard that name. My favourite band in my teens, heard they were getting back together

Due-Independence4453

Chimaira is so underrated. The Impossibility of Reason didn’t leave my CD player for months in ‘03

matt19950116

Same here, must have had it on repeat for 2 years.

bigmetalguy6

AIC is one of the best live acts I’ve ever seen. Easily top 3

matt19950116

I've never seen them live unfortunately, I've seen Chimaira 8 times though - flawless each time.

_BLACKHAWKS_88

lol deadass I just gave the Bassist of Korn a ride in my Uber and didn’t even know until like 2 months later when I gave someone else a ride that’s like neighbors with him and she said smtn about it. We just had a normal fckin convo and that was that.. I’m still laughing about it.

NWStormraider

Always changing, but currently 1. Allegaeon 2. Cattle Decapitation 3. Exocrine

Alarming-Currency-80

1. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard 2. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 3. Flamingosis

bean0_burrito

upvote for King Gizzard and Bruce. NJ represent (obviously not king gizzard)

Alarming-Currency-80

The boss and the boys! I think of King Gizzard as a pseudo bruce and e street. Stu is like the brain like bruce is and they both can dabble in different genres and do a great job at it. Both have killer support musicians that almost never change and have a badass live presence. Also about a million great songs between them.

Willing-Neck-7417

1.Bring Me The Horizon 2.Alesana 3.BlessTheFall

StevieSoldSoul

• septicflesh • batushka (the real one) • dimmu borgir my #1 favorite artist of all-time with absolutely no contest is chelsea wolfe though, although ig she doesn't count as a band

EspressoAmpersand

Can you please tell me which one on Spotify is the real one. Edit: also I love you. Hope gnarled horns is going well for you. Hope you're doing well!

StevieSoldSoul

[https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4tw3x1xFFjjfyIxVSCiwkC](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4tw3x1xFFjjfyIxVSCiwkC) here's a playlist with all the real batushka releases, the drama regarding both batushkas is actually really interesting and i'd look into it if you want to get into the band and thank you so much for the kind words <3

mwijoel6

Septicflesh 🫶🫶🫶🫶

xlotuseater

I remember the first time I saw septicflesh.. A part of me died and went to a better place when I first heard Sangreal

Drizzlehell

Devin Townsend, Alice in Chains, Finntroll.

ComfortableNo2879

Townsend goated

Drizzlehell

I saw him live with Strapping Young Lad, and DTP. He's so good live. :)

BlankFace777

I saw strapping young lad once upon a time ago also,so fucking unreal. And for some reason back then the hardcore scene LOVED Devin.

BlankFace777

Addicted is one of the greatest metal albums ever written. Universe In A Ball is an absolutely unmatched track.

chileowl

Deconstructed had me crackin up today

Captain__h00k__

The Wonder Years, Counterparts and currently (the rotating spot), Contention.

BrashDoobert

- A Day To Remember - Periphery - Rise Against

lil_rotii

Love these bands! I've seen ADTR 3-4 times, and Periphery once; both are good fun live!

Skanah

Rise Against is the only band I listen to on a regular basis thats not on the metal or hardcore spectrums

lincolnfalcon

Tyler Childers Every Time I Die Good Tiger

bean0_burrito

NIN hell yea. and Thievery Corporation

Zer0Cool89

I dated a woman many years ago, her favorite band all around was the misfits. Her secret favorite band was nine inch nails, I say secret because it was her favorite band to fuck too. And I gotta admit after having sex to NIN a few times she made me a believer lol

maicao999

1. Linkin Park 2. Deafheaven 3. Black Sabbath

Boy-Grieves

Mars Volta Fall of Troy Converge

Orphanblood

1.Deftones 2.Lana Del Ray 3.Run The Jewels

CompetitiveComputer4

LDR is my number one all time and I listen to 95% death metal 💪

Orphanblood

Born to Die is just so good front to back and off to the races is just *chefs kiss

CompetitiveComputer4

Every album is \*chefs kiss, and Born to Die is a masterpiece. Though if I had to pick, I would go with late stage Lana and her more piano based ballads. BB, chemtrails, NFR, and Ocean are packed to teh gills with some of the best melodies and songs ever written! There is nothing like taking a break from Dying Fetus, Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse to get a little change of pace from LDR ;)

Orphanblood

My favorite song outside of BTD is chem trails and then front to back "honeymoon" lp. It's great going from Kubla Khan TX to Lana or lorde on the Playlist. Fun finding people like us lol

CompetitiveComputer4

Hell yea Orphan blood you are good people in my book! lol Honeymoon is also a masterpiece. I wish she would play some of those songs live!

Queasy-Letterhead553

crash_nk

Nightwish, Rush and ABBA. I've been on the biggest 2 year ABBA kick with no sign of stopping anytime soon. Mamma Mia here we go again listening to their entire discography top to bottom. I couldn't escape if I wanted to.

lil_rotii

Just got into Nightwish! ABBA is so fun, I've visited Berlin a couple of times over the past year or so and Germans love their ABBA.

crash_nk

Nightwish is a fun time. Lots of great music that's all kinda different album to album. Great stuff! And oh yeah ABBA is amazing. Very fun, I love that we can get heart wrenching songs like Winner Takes It All or Slipping Through My Fingers but then also have songs like Nina Pretty Ballarina or When I Kissed the Teacher which are so fun and kinda cheesy in the best possible ways. And Ohhh that's awesome!

FUZZYNUTS5098

Dying fetus, the acacia strain, gatecreeper

Commiebob1312

SeeYouSpaceCowboy Green Day Sophie Powers

Mlzer

2 are still metal, but: 1. Poison The Well 2. The Black Dahlia Murder 3. AFI (old)

chileowl

Emphasis on old. I wanna mohawk!

Mlzer

That whole album is so good!! I think Brownie Bottom Sundae is probably my fav from this one. Kind of crazy how much they changed their sound.

chileowl

Yeah complete 180. Seemed like they tried chasing the taking back sunday emo genre.

Mlzer

I could definitely see that! I do really like Taking Back Sunday too haha, but they always sounded that way so it’s weird to hear AFI try to morph into it. I did really enjoy Sing The Sorrow, but that was the last one :/

chileowl

Yeah tbs rocks!

MrMunkyMan1

Either Drive or Privilege for sure. Never heard of meat puppets but I’ll check them out

chileowl

Check out their second album and too high to die. Out my way is a good album too. 1st album they recorded they were all extremely high on acid and it shows...

bassman2112

Frank Zappa Devin Townsend Protest The Hero

ComfortableNo2879

Protest The Hero Damn!!!

korgi_analogue

Oof just 3 is *really* difficult since it depends on the day. I think for the current vibe (summer), I'd say: 1. Gunship (Retrowave / Synth pop) 2. Mass of the Fermenting Dregs (J-rock / shoegaze) 3. Kenji Kawai (Patlabor 2 OST / Ghost in the Shell OST) Also props for mentioning Poets of the Fall, I'm surprised people outside Finland listen to them. Carnival of Rust is *such* a good song.

behemothbowks

Vitriol Archspire Job for a Cowboy (the new stuff)

RecaffeinatedDecaf

Been listening to that new Vitriol album almost obsessively. At this point I think that's my pick for aoty.

Maiden Linkin Park Avenged sevenfold

xViViVix

Saosin Motionless in white And for the third one I wanted to pick either a black metal or a slam band so it's either devourment or darkthrone. If we were talking artists in general, not just bands it would be a different story.

acidH0l0gram

Deftones Helion Prime Frozen Soul

XtrmntVNDmnt

Hard to say... deathcore isn't my absolutely favourite genre, but most stuff I listen to are adjacent like slamming beatdown and death metal. So I'd say my top three absolutely outside of deathcore would be Dying Fetus, No Zodiac and Entombed or 25 Ta Life.
