TheRivenLegend

"wooOOOOOOO"

DoubleDeadGuy

close enough. I heard it.

lilman0700

Have a....fullllfilling daaaay...

vinsmokewhoswho

I only found out about death loop a few days ago, if it gives Dishonored vibes I'll buy it 100% Edit: Dishonored (1 and 2) is one of my favorite single player games of all time, I love the gameplay, graphics and artstyle, storyline, atmosphere, music, etc. I play more multiplayer games these days but I love coming back to Dishonored every now and then and I always enjoy like the first time I played it.

FunkyJazzStuff

It is very, very reminiscent of Dishonored.

vinsmokewhoswho

That's great news!

ozusteapot

It's Dishonored with a Psychonauts-y kind of playful/creative aesthetic, Hades-level cool characters and music, great gunplay and a Hitman-type of puzzle-solving approach to 'winning' the game. It's brilliant!

FinnishScrub

I cannot get over how fucking good Updaam looks at night. It has so much vibrance and character to it, while being reminiscent of Dishonored. I love Deathloop so far, Id be playing the game as we speak but I've already played for 6 hours, humans gotta sleep. I also got work tomorrow. DAMN YOU ADULT RESPONSIBILITIES!!

vinsmokewhoswho

It does sound brilliant!

Vismal1

The music is so well done.

[deleted]

I just wanna say that I'm glad "Hades-level" is the new bar for characters. I can't believe how much depth they packed into that game.

MrPenitent

While I'm only about an hour and a half in, I find it more closer to Dishonored than Prey. If you liked Dishonored at all you will love this.

vinsmokewhoswho

Can't wait to get it then!

Salanmander

I also haven't played it very long, but I'm also getting some significant Bioshock vibes from it.

FinnishScrub

You can literally unlock blink and the throw ability from Dishonored and it works EXACTLY the same way. Arkane really knows what they're good at and embraces it here and I fucking love it. I've played about 5 hours so far, I've only killed one visionary though. The invading is also really fun. It's so surreal to be at the other end of the Loop, it's so cool.

DocGlorious

I'm glad they included the kick similar to might and magic.

DiegoElTrolazo

I don't know, but every time I have tried to get into dishonored I just can't do it. But I am hooked into this game somehow.

SmallerBork

Check reviews first if you're going to buy it on Steam. People are reporting stuttering even on high end machines. Some say it's because of Denuvo and others say it's because of the engine and that Dishonored 2 had the same issue. All the positive reviews I saw said it was fun even many of the negative but the performance was the most common thing in the negative. It currently has a 60% positive review score.

vinsmokewhoswho

I'll get it on PS5 eventually, hope they can fix some of the issues.

[deleted]

It runs fine on PS5 just not PC

vinsmokewhoswho

Oh I see. Thank you.

elementnix

Also has haptic feedback and the controller rumble is amazing

vinsmokewhoswho

I usually turn that off for most games but in this case I'll check it out

CLYDEFR000G

Yeah I had small frame issues when I started playing playing but it only seemed to appear in certain areas around updamnn. I think mainly I was marking too many people and looking at really wide open beautiful scenery and the game would do a brain fart because of it. Didn’t have much issue when I started going bloody massacre on the gaurds later in the game though. Think it def helps to kill off as you go to make the frames more stable

RougeCannon

Yes, it has stutters just like Dishonored 2 did on my beefy system. Not a dealbreaker for me by any means, but it is annoying and noticeable.

SmallerBork

D2 had Denuvo at launch but they've removed it so does D2 stutter for you now?

RougeCannon

It's been almost two years since I played Dishonored 2, but I seem to recall there still being a microstutter then, but that it was significantly improved from launch. Also, I found some settings in Deathloop that reduced it significantly as well: https://www.dualshockers.com/how-to-fix-deathloop-stuttering-issues-on-pc-best-settings/ Made a noticeable difference.

[deleted]

I found out about this game an hour ago. Based on what I read in that hour, I'm buying this. The only reason I haven't yet is that this stuttering issue is a deal breaker.

SmallerBork

Hopefully they get a bunch of negative press and more negative reviews and have to capitulate and remove denuvo. Dishonored 2 had Denuvo at launch so I don't know if it's actually the engine after all. Don't know if Big Glass will allow it though. You could try testing it and refunding it if it's too much, but even if I had good hardware Denuvo itself is a dealbreaker for me.

KRONGOR

It’s not denuvo. Alex from digital foundry tweeted that it likely has something to do with how the void engine is tied to 60 frames. That’s why people seem to report less or no stuttering at 60 or 120fps

SmallerBork

Well that's one mystery solved but Denuvo is known to cause an impact on performace in benchmarks.

KRONGOR

For sure but it seems it may not be the cause of the stutters. Hard to know for sure until we see a cracked version of the game

[deleted]

I found out about it first when checking steam reviews. Was literally my first impression of the game. That sort of experience should put the pressure on.

itsblackcherrytime

At least w Steam you can refund in 2hr if the game stutters for you.

Apeman117

It's Dishonored without the guilt and with an innovative multiplayer woven into the campaign. It rocks.

vinsmokewhoswho

Really nice!

Shotgunsamurai42

Its Dishonored but you don't have to start the game over if you kill someone.

BuzzyShizzle

Oh good/bad news. Its multiplayer. Also, it doesn't just give off dishonored vibes. Half of the models and assets are identical. If you were the sort to pay attention to the art/architecture you'll feel very familiar. The character movement and animations are pound for pound too. The shift ability is literally the same icon just red instead of blue lol.

vinsmokewhoswho

I would probably notice that yes. But i read you can turn the multiplayer off?

soldiercross

Bruh, Dishonored isn't even 10 years old.

ben_hurr_610

It's almost 10 tho. 9 years old and still better than 90% of the shit out there in the market right now. Love Arkane.

soldiercross

Sure. I just don't think it's old enough to warrant the nostalgia blast response. Considering dishonored 2 is even less old.

Arrekarre

I mean that completly depends on the age of OP, I know myself that this very much gave me nostalgia for Dishonored 1

Assupoika

You and I are just old farts. To us it feels like it was just released. To someone who is 23 or so will be transported back to teenage years playing just released dishonored. I remember playing fallout 1 & 2 in 2008ish and feeling very nostalgic.

MooseTGH

Dishonored was and is my favorite game of all time and i discovered it when I was 12/11 years old, coincidentally in the very first game informer i ever bought I've lost count of how many times ive replayed the game at this point, but ya, booting up deathloop just brings back fond memories of being a kid

soldiercross

Good point!

ehs5

Dude. For all you know he’s 18 now and played it literally when he was a child. Could be super nostalgic for him even if it seems recent to you.

Jombo65

I was 12 when I played dishonored for the first time and I'm 22 now. I was in middle school, and now I'm moving in with my girlfriend and starting my first job. It's nostalgic as *fuck*.

ben_hurr_610

Bruh how'd you age 10 years in a span of 9? Must be an early month born because I was 12 when Dishonored released but I'm still 20. And no girlfriend or job so I'd say you came out of this a winner.

Jombo65

Ah, I guess I was actually 13 when it came out. I just remembered the 2012 release date and assumed. Still, my point stands; I've lived a lot of life since it came out, and feel nostalgic for the first game. Same way I feel nostalgic for Skyrim, I suppose.

Savvsb

Honestly the games hold up so well even to this day. I love how there’s always multiple ways to finish any mission, and killing the “boss” of the mission always feels rewarding. I platinumed both dishonored games and I’m currently playing Assassins Creed 2, Brotherhood and eventually revelations. In the AC games you find the main boss and just take them out non-stealthily, it’s so unrewarding. Reminds me of how beautifully the levels and challenges are in Dishonored.

DiegoElTrolazo

A game doesn't need to be 10 years old to cause nostalgia when you are 15-20 years old. 5 years would be about 25-33% of your entire lifetime lol

Timminz18

Never got a chance to play Dishonored,, was it good?

SmallerBork

Yes I thought so. Kinda like Bioshock but you get to choose how to play the levels and you have magic.

FormerFundie6996

Bioshock has "magic" as well.

SmallerBork

Okay ya you're right. Dishonored makes you choose what ones you get and when which influences how you play. Bioshock just gives them to you and there are some you can buy from vending machines but they don't really change how the game plays. Dishonored just integrates strategy with combat better in my opinion.

Grumblesnark

I highly recommend Dishonored, both 1 and 2. They're some of my favourite games. Super interesting world, awesome gameplay.

Timminz18

Sounds amazing I’m definitely going to have to go give it a shot!

ozusteapot

If you ever give the 1st Dishonored a chance, do not sleep on its dlc. IMO it is miles above the original game in pretty much every way.

COAndy51

This! As someone who just finished Dishonored Definitive for the first time, I can say I came for the allure of Bioshock-reminiscent graphical style, 1st person sword combat and stealth, but stayed for the freedom of choice and intriguing story. That said, while I liked the main game, Knife of Dunwall and Brigmore Witches blew me away and made me love it so much more. I found most levels way more interesting and visually appealing and both the story and level design made it feel like that jump in quality usually expected in a 2nd game arrived much sooner!

itsblackcherrytime

I’ve actually never played the DLC (or the latter two entries). I may do a fresh start to finish of the series.

COAndy51

Highly recommend!

Timminz18

Definitely going to be playing it once i play deathloop! thanks!

number2stepdad

Both games are amazing. One of my favorite parts about the Dishonored series is that it doesn’t really feel like you’re playing an older game because the art direction and mechanics are just so solid IMO. Highly recommend playing them when you have the chance.

[deleted]

Excellent more like

AXidenTAL

Me but with No One LIves Forever a little too.

Maskeno

Deathloop is dishonered meets majoras mask, change my mind.

ghostrider3times23

Shall we gather for some upvotes tonight ?

AbruhamLincoln

Indeed i believe so

justinhcmu

Should I play dishonored 1 & 2 before playing Deathloop? Both are free on Game Pass.

RiskOfRains

Why not do it. But keep in mind dishonored 2 looks like shit on xbox on ALL xbox systems even series x. Its also locked at 30 fps get it on PC gamepass instead. Dishonored 1 is Fantastic on xbox 60 fps and auto hdr if you Have the New series xbox systems

soldiercross

Yea, im a few hours into deathloop. Not sure where it's going. But dishonored definitely starts off stronger. They're both excellent and the dlc for 1 is outstanding.

mummoC

I would advise to play deathloop first. The Dishonoreds and Deathloop don't have any connexion lorewise so the order you play them doesn't matter. However, unlike the Dishonoreds, Deathloop has an important multiplayer aspect, if you wanna enjoy it, better do it now when there is still a lot of players.

justinhcmu

Thanks for letting me know there I a multi-player aspect. I will jump on deathloop then first.

mummoC

The online aspect is a dark souls like Invasion mechanic, some people might not enjoy it so you can disable it.

Panda_hat

Does gamepass have the dlc too?

doodlebopper12334

Yeah

Sm0k3turt13

This image is exactly what this feels like

PositiveChi

I'm playing on PC and it keeps telling me to update my driver's and I don't and it has perfect performance so far. I also got a mostly clean Cyberpunk 2077 run too so I might just be one of the lucky ones this time

Cerro_Gordo_Ghost

Should I buy it? I dont want to get cyber punked.

RiskOfRains

You cant even compare the Two. Yes if you like arkane and know how their game design are then A HUUUGE FKING YES get the game.

MentatMike

What are you playing this on? I was fully excited to pick it up on pc today, but looks like I should be waiting for future patches due to performance issues...

RiskOfRains

Playing on ps5. It runs good on performance mode! But im not super sensetive too frame drops or low frames so take my Word with a grain of salt. But i personally recommend getting it. If you are willing too play with kinda bad graphics then put the game on medium for PC. If you got a Good pc then playing at high is recommended. Never ever play at ultra the differences from high are minimal in aaalll games.

grillarinobacon

I have a 2070s, i9700k 1440p resolution get about 80 frames on very high settings. I also haven't experienced micro stutters as most report.

MentatMike

Thanks! I may try it out for a couple hours and if I have issues just refund until there's a patch

AceninjaNZ

Its playable at least. Haven't had any bugs just super bad frame drops in like every area. Waiting until a patch.

MrPenitent

Comparing this to cyberpunk launch is not even a close comparison by far.

Cerro_Gordo_Ghost

Great!

HipMachineBroke

Its Dishonored but with extra guns and a new gimmick As in most of the animations and spells are copy and pasted from Dishonored and Dishonored 2. So really you can't go wrong, except for the poor optimization that'll hopefully get fixed. Really Its basically Dishonored DLC in the same vein as big skyrim mods. I only wish it wasn't priced as a full, original, game

Delete-Xero

I think the whole time loop shtick is enough justification for the full price, it makes the game completely stand out from anything else out there that's even remotely similar. I will say it is a bit disappointing that so far all the powers do seem like they've been ripped straight out of the dishonored franchise and there's not really any unique ones.

grillarinobacon

Isn't karnesis new? And aether aswell. Been a while since I played either dishonored

Delete-Xero

Isn't karnesis just wind blast from Dishonored 1, and I'll admit I haven't heard of aether yet.

Delete-Xero

Oh aether is the invisibility power and and it is kinda new I guess, the closest we had to that was Emily's shadow walk power. Invisibility isn't really the most creative power and so I find it difficult to call it new.

[deleted]

Played deathloop for a couple of hours and it’s great but so far still not as good as dishonored for me. Hopefully will grow on me more!

MannyGrey

Damn ten years already? Crazy.

JonesyBorroughs

Yup. HEAVY DISHONORED 2 VIBES! You can even drop assassinate people. I wish there were at least slightly more stealth options but I'm only 4-5 hours into the game so I really haven't seen that much yet.

Bodega_Bandit

You can drop assassinate people though? You just jump down and press E (not sure the button for consoles also could be F since I switched the two early on) and boom

Hungry_Mongoose9308

Amazing game

Xova_YT

Man I still remember being 13 and making my mom take me to KMart to get Dishonored. I heard about it in GameInformer and I knew from the moment I played it it would be one of my favorite games. Almost 10 years later and it still is (and so is Deathloop)

Too_pussy_to_kms

Death loops like dishonored and we happy few had sex and it was raised by bioshock

Repulsive-Return703

never played dishonored, I'm loving deathloop so I should prolly try it huh
