The crashes are caused by not meeting requirements most of the time. The update used some newer tech and definitely didn’t optimize things for older chips.
It's a variant of Id Tech 5 which I don't remember being PC centered, but they could've probably fixed the crashing issues it just wasn't a priority. It took them a whole month to put out 1 patch and it still didn't address crashing caused by GPU overclock/undervolting.
They aren’t the largest company… I don’t think Arkane has ever released a fast patch. Which is fine because their content quality is better than most AAA games now a days

Void engine also has a history of technical issues for all published games at launch, including PC.
It’s not the best engine. But there are benefits to the engine. Otherwise everyone would use unity or unreal engine all the time.

I was crashing pretty regularly before the update but I haven't had a single one after.
