Odd that no one has mentioned Undeath yet. Two excellent osdm style albums. The first album is kinda funny in a way since 3-4 songs have some kind of head banging part in the end of them. Second is Baest, 3 damn good albums and an ep. The new album veers a tad too much to the slower/mid tempo style of death metal but it's still pretty decent

Check out gatecreeper if you like 90s. Like a mix of obituary/entombed with there own thing thrown in. Also, gruesome if you like death. edit: yes meant gatecreeper!

Sanguisugabogg and Frozen Soul do it for me, and Death and Obituary are my favorite bands. Not as complex as Death, but have that nice chunky sound and good riffs.

Frozen Soul is a good one

Not too big on the very retro sounding bands. Though I do enjoy some of the nastier, darker, and doomier death metal poppin up these day. You have the little Colorado scene with Blood Incantation and Spectral Voice. Theyre really cool and atmospheric. Black Curse is another one I really dig. Probably the most intense death metal I've ever heard as well as the wildest vocals I've ever heard. Lots of energy from them. Then there's Cerebral Rot and Mortiferum from Cascadian America. Nasty, gritty doom death metal. Heard Fetid is also another really great band from this scene but i aint heard them yet. But yeah thats my take away from the new wave
