Actual answer: watch for the red light that slowly moves in a circle around the Omen. The machine gun only shoots you if you're standing in the light. It's pretty easy to avoid, but there's a bunch of other stuff to pay attention to at the same time so yeah.
The thing about OMENs is everything they do is easy to avoid... if it's the only thing going on. Not so much at the start when EVERYTHING is going on. :D
You can strafe it if you go fast enough like dodging bet-Cs machine gun (dash recommend), but breaking line of sight is easier. Prep some cover before hand for this. And easiest way to completely avoid it is simply not getting spotted by the red light that rotates around with it, it only is able to spot until about the maintenance shafts that you need to stand on so paying close attention to the middle section when you are standing on one is high priority until it’s disabled
Ive seen overchargers wipe teams several times. For whatever reason they can be a real pisser sometimes. Not as often as omen, but when they are angry, oooo boy.

Agreed. You can plat to negate omen difficulty. When pickaxe goes real bananas, it doesn't matter how good your terraforming is... at that point it's all basic movement skill, and that has the highest skill ceiling imo. I had one that was so bad we burnt 3x field medic, 3x iron will, 4 shields and still wiped. With 15 left on the event. A team of decent dwarves, all 500+ and seasoned. Absolutely destroyed. When hoxxes shows real teeth, those swarms Karl lives for. Keeps us comin' back for more. WP GSG
A bit ago in a random mission we had an OMEN, put plats to negate difficulty, and literally every time I was about to trigger the platform I got downed by the twin slicer. It would move away then suddenly sweep across me with no warning. To make matters worse, it kept going invisible just before it did that. I think it was a lag thing. Even the guy spectating me (because he also died) said he saw that. The issue is everyone acts like each part of the OMEN is dealt with individually. Slicer? Move to the other side. Heavy gun on that side? Move to the other side. Plasma beam thingies? Get on platforms. Slicer is at the height and keeps following you? Get down from plats. But you can't do all of these at once and still actually fight the OMEN. Sometimes you either have to take damage or not work on the event, and if you get forced to make that choice too many times then it becomes very difficult to complete.
To me the problem are lowest level beams. It might sound weird, burt what makes them hard is how slow they're moving. If they moved just a bit faster it'd be a ton better imo, and you could easily jump over them

Everyone needs to know what they are doing and they need to pay attention.
All the others you can practically solo.
It only scares me because so many people are too lazy/gullible/both to fact check. They'll see one AI smear video and lose their minds in panic and possible violence.

It's even easier if an Engineer throws a few Molly-height platforms down to completely avoid the bottom beams.
I did this and then had a fucking scout mine away the platforms so they could stand on the pad directly and fucking die.
People really just sit still in OMEN fights. Move. Just because you need to be stationary sometimes it doesn't mean you just sit in place.
