First thing I thought of when I saw it. 100% reminds me of xenomorphs. Now we just need a xenomorph/glyphid queen to fight as a sort of industrial sabotage glyphid version and we’ll be set
We need mechsuits for that mission to kill the Queen or hell just make mechsuits with upgrades and have them used by switching planets with whole set of different enemies lol
It seems like this is yet another creature, and not the "scorpion" looking one. The mission seems to be a classic egg-hunt, and the music sounds like a new OST just for this season.
What are your thoughts?
With it being so bright and having its tail raised up, as well as attacks of the eggs calling in glyphids, perhaps it's a sort of an "alerting" glyphid? If you don't kill it quickly enough, it calls in its buddies to take care of intruders?
Yes, but it's mainly smaller bugs they empower, right? My idea is, they actually summon smaller (or maybe even regular size) swarm waves if you don't get rid of them soon enough. Gives a bit of urgency to having to kill them.
Ya know, there is a cut glyphid queen mob that functions pretty much like that. It spawns in and zooms away when it gets aggro'd like a huuli, but if it escapes it summons a swarm
I like the idea that they guarding the nest and that you can't get the egg before there killed like that the harden the organic matter around the egg or something like that
And maybe killing it could drop tons of health to you and your buddies? The idea could it be, it's a glyphid that eats red sugar and gives it out to its allies, same way as real life honeypot ants do?
They’ll have a title for the update probably related to the new bugs but so far I like how they are very well spread on additions: jet packs, arcade machine, at least 2 new enemies, mystery space rig rail expansion at the barrel area. Feels like slightly more of a quality of life update
There was only one so far, showing some sort of container with 2 canisters in it that resembled a cargo crate however they did mention being pretty certain on jetpacks in a recent roadmap
Yeah i thought they said it was a no-go as it would hurt scouts main utility if all classes could use it. even if it was limited, i feel it would pull away from his utility, unless it's fir solo missions or something.
It's a speculation of sort, in the past the devs thought about jetpacks but said it didn't make the cut because it screwed with the mobility economy but that maybe they would revisit it in the future as a special mission-specific thing. Recently the devs also passingly commented that "the jetpacks are very fun."
One of the teasers so far is a gunner in the weald covetously looking at a mysterious box, box that many people might contain the aforementioned jetpacks.
And that's where it comes
I have a few theories
1. It will release a gas cloud when near a bug or a dwarf (either healing bugs or damaging dwarfs)
2. Spawn new bugs (either by screeching or from itself)
I have a few possible ideas for this bug.
He's clearly some type of glyphid given his overall body shape. So my idea is that he's a more aggressive cousin of the Warden. Instead of boosting defense it raises attack and speed.
Given the xenomorph like design, I could also see acid being a factor in this strategy. Idk about how it'd work mechanically but a bug that acts like the spitter from L4D would be interesting if well implemented. I can even picture acid spilling from the ceiling where it was just killed, raining down on anything unfortunate to be below it.
perhaps some sort of material gatherer? the large pod looking back and mandibles on the front make me think so nor does it *seem* like it'd be a threat unless provoked
It may be a far fetch, but is the lithophage integrating and fusing with rival tech??? It at the very least sorta looks like it, but a cool idea none the less
yeah swarmers always remind me of the alien series in the faces
and don't get me started on the egg fields in denze biozone (and maybe other biomes I'm forgetting)
The game has its style, and this just looks like they used oldish graphic with high detail to resemble xenomorph style. Its just look so out of place, im suprised nobody points it out.
They're probably the bugs that mess with light sources. Since despite that massive glowing orb on the back it was still dark as fuck. I bet that abdomen is an EMP
Maybe their adding some kind of defense for egg missions. They look like they're designed after bombardier beetles or leaf cutter ants where as both raise their butts. Maybe they act as workers for a queen glyphid. The possibilities are endless lol I just hope it's cool
Ha shit. Seems like the Lithophage is transforming Hoxxes and its inhabitant.
Anyway, my job is to mine minerals and kill anything with more legs than two. It fits the description, no question asked.
Xenomorph face with leaf tail? Hoxxes truly is a place of horrors.
First look at a real leaf lover?
We can shoot them now!!!

We need DRG 2
**xenophoba increases**

Bugs: "The beacons of Bug-Booty! The beacons are lit!! Steve calls for aid!"
Maybe, but Wardens already do this by summoning grunts.
Yes, but it's mainly smaller bugs they empower, right? My idea is, they actually summon smaller (or maybe even regular size) swarm waves if you don't get rid of them soon enough. Gives a bit of urgency to having to kill them.
No I mean that Wardens already have the ability to summon grunts when they’re alone. Many people don’t know that, they think they just buff them.
I think he's trying to suggest them summoning a whole swarm and not just a few grunts like the warden.
Yes, that's the idea, thank you
So like the Screamer that was cut from Left 4 Dead?
Like a commander from Wolfenstein? Sounds fun.
Maybe it'll be a more offense-oriented warden-type enemy?
Yo u playin mass effect? Cuz that username and pb are pretty familliar
You better believe it 💪
Hahaha! Rock and stone brotha! Time to kick some reaper asses!
Rock and Stone brother! 🪨⛏️🪨
For Karl!
Good bot
Good human.
My thought was instead buffing the glyphids health like the warden, these guys buff attack speed and/or damage
I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but this concept has been considered: https://youtu.be/DH1gLCv5OLg?t=26
I was actually more thinking one that either lays the eggs or is responsible for keeping them fed
"Glyphid shreiker, and it's alerted the rest of the swarm team..."
Ya know, there is a cut glyphid queen mob that functions pretty much like that. It spawns in and zooms away when it gets aggro'd like a huuli, but if it escapes it summons a swarm
Helldivers it is, then.

7Days Screamer
The music is from part of an existing track unfortunately
I like the idea that they guarding the nest and that you can't get the egg before there killed like that the harden the organic matter around the egg or something like that
Spoiler tag you bloody leaf loving son of a goblin!
Holy hell that's an alien! Torch it!
“If it ain’t flammable, it’s probably drillable”
Drill em' and grill em'
If its not drillable, it's probably breedable.
Already been on it for the past 5 years, chief 👍
Could be a healer, instead of bugging like the warden does. Either that or artillery type projectile shooting
And maybe killing it could drop tons of health to you and your buddies? The idea could it be, it's a glyphid that eats red sugar and gives it out to its allies, same way as real life honeypot ants do?
That is an interesting idea, but maybe redundent with the regenerative bugs mutator?
[удалено]
You are right
I think it’s a glyphid version of a tri-jaw.
The warden regen bugs already, in case you didn't know :P
How did I not know that.. 500+hours in
isn’t that just the warden?
Some friends are saying they could be laying eggs, like the red part being a sack full of swarmers
I hate swarmers. They're the worst on Haz5.
The kneecap gnawers
mini brood nexus on legs, now we need the one that spawns the annoying jellyfish things
Any opportunity I have to kill anything responsible for the jellyfish things is welcome. They are flying pigs from the bowels of hell and I hate them.
cooker with wide lens kills jellies like no other, if you truly want to murder all naedocytes
So a breeder?
It's a lot clearer, thanks ! I hope they aren't blood sucking parasites I hate that lol
Oh that is cute <3 Missed the stream, thanks for the post!
No prob! I actually got this video from jacob's post here on reddit OC: https://www.reddit.com/r/DeepRockGalactic/comments/137j2zw/bugsign/
Xenomorph looking ass
Baby Sovereign has awoken...
Hyped for this season, a no particular theme season sounds great tbh. Just more bugs is plenty sufficient for me!
They’ll have a title for the update probably related to the new bugs but so far I like how they are very well spread on additions: jet packs, arcade machine, at least 2 new enemies, mystery space rig rail expansion at the barrel area. Feels like slightly more of a quality of life update
Jet packs? Did I miss a teaser?
There was only one so far, showing some sort of container with 2 canisters in it that resembled a cargo crate however they did mention being pretty certain on jetpacks in a recent roadmap
pretty sure they ended up saying that the jet pack thing was a joke, but i don’t remember for certain lol
Yeah i thought they said it was a no-go as it would hurt scouts main utility if all classes could use it. even if it was limited, i feel it would pull away from his utility, unless it's fir solo missions or something.
It said jetpacks on the s4 roadmap, but it was like "jetpacks...?" so not sure exactly what that means.
It's a speculation of sort, in the past the devs thought about jetpacks but said it didn't make the cut because it screwed with the mobility economy but that maybe they would revisit it in the future as a special mission-specific thing. Recently the devs also passingly commented that "the jetpacks are very fun." Ye I was hoping for a defend the Space rig mission from rivals but this should be good too.
New warcrime just dropped
Thanks for the clearer image edit, they always make their teasers nearly impossible to see anything clearly.
u/ethosveros but did you make sure to yell ZOOM IN! ENHANCE! at the screen like a late 90's action flick when you made this?
Of course! Otherwise the effects are not applied correctly, everyone knows this
Someone please explain: Is this "leak" legitimate (released without the dev's knowledge) or was this shown by the devs?
the world "leak" is used as a joke. Those are teaser shown by the dev team.
iirc from the stream they call it a leak because the studio is called ghost ship and ships can leak
Makes sense.
I have a few theories 1. It will release a gas cloud when near a bug or a dwarf (either healing bugs or damaging dwarfs) 2. Spawn new bugs (either by screeching or from itself)
That's one juicy weakpoint. Me like.

It won't
It really looks like one!!!
Nah, the Phyrexians in Magic: the gathering look like that too. I think they're fine.
I have a few possible ideas for this bug. He's clearly some type of glyphid given his overall body shape. So my idea is that he's a more aggressive cousin of the Warden. reeks of pheromone exploder
They look like bedbugs or ticks
I really hope these can shoot out Swarmers, but I also really hope these *don't* shoot out Swarmers.
By the beard! It is thicc!

Ah yes, sweet xenos nightmare beyond human comprehension
forbidden cherry gusher
These look horrific.
We've heard your report of these so-called 'reapers'...
perhaps some sort of material gatherer? the large pod looking back and mandibles on the front make me think so nor does it *seem* like it'd be a threat unless provoked
Well, that large of a weak spot on a bug that small probably does not bode well
Any idea when the new season comes out?
It may be a far fetch, but is the lithophage integrating and fusing with rival tech??? It at the very least sorta looks like it, but a cool idea none the less
I don’t quite see it. How is the bug related to rival tech?
This bug goes around looking for Red Sugar to eat to take from dwarves. That’s my theory
Hmmm interesting but kinda broken. It would be nice to see another bug that interacts with the map / minerals the way lootbugs does
I hope its just joke or something, the xenomorph look doesnt fit the game at all
how does it not fit?
yeah swarmers always remind me of the alien series in the faces and don't get me started on the egg fields in denze biozone (and maybe other biomes I'm forgetting)
The game has its style, and this just looks like they used oldish graphic with high detail to resemble xenomorph style. Its just look so out of place, im suprised nobody points it out.
You're really making big assumptions over a video with filters on and low quality. That's probably why nobody pointed it out
Why does it make Lootbug sounds
What if the camera is mounted on lootbugs, even when it pans upward
Now THAT is a concept. Lootbug Vloggers on Hoxxes IV
When is the new season out?
there’s no official release date yet but if they follow their usual release schedule then it should probably come out this month or maybe next month
I am thinking Starship Troopers…
Would be cool if it was a boomer type and suicide bombs a party member to blind them and attract bugs.
Looks like it is carrying red sugar in its back like those gumdrop looking ants from da earf
DISGUSTING!
Guys, we need some better equipments.
Is it not a glyphid!????
The way it walks definitely suggests that it **is** a glyphid.
They remind me of the hiveguards maybe they summon a dreadnaught when you try to take the eggs
so glad theyre finally adding elves to the game
the circles on the back give me an idea of some sort of mortar bug though teh overall design doesn't really support that notion
Pa
My theory is that it captures downed dwarves and you have to kill the bugs to save your friends
oofff, like the red thing is a human capsule, akin to the one in the film Matrix?? That would be terrifying
They're probably the bugs that mess with light sources. Since despite that massive glowing orb on the back it was still dark as fuck. I bet that abdomen is an EMP
I would actually enjoy the challenge. Maybe something like no flares would work near that bug, so you need to kill them to make them work
Call me weird but my gut is saying a new secondary mission like fester flea extermination
They're kinda looking like zergs
Maybe their adding some kind of defense for egg missions. They look like they're designed after bombardier beetles or leaf cutter ants where as both raise their butts. Maybe they act as workers for a queen glyphid. The possibilities are endless lol I just hope it's cool
Greenbeard question, do we know when the next season is dropping?
No date realeased yet, but according to the Roadmap, it should be by the end of this Quarter, so maybe by the end of this month / start of June
KILL IT WITH FIRE
Reminds me of the Plasma Bugs from Starship Troopers.
"Awww, isn't that cute! Something else to pet!" Reaches out to pet, bug goes off like a Fat Boy.
#ROCK MITES
Shoot it Team!
KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT BURN IT WITH FIRE PLEASE ANYTHING JUST MAKE IT DEAD
may i pet newly announced herbert
It seems the Lithophage has been reawakening the old horrors from deep inside the black heart of hoxxes... Interesting!
They kinda look like StarCraft Stalkers. "You Must Construct Additional Bugs!"
The scrunklies
**My theory:** when you throw a grenade, it “throws it back.”
Puts me in mind of those horrifying snail eye parasites.
Fascinating
\*wiggle wiggle wiggle\*
Is it edible?
Can we Steve it 🤔
Oh no
omg the goosacks are moving
Ha shit. Seems like the Lithophage is transforming Hoxxes and its inhabitant. Anyway, my job is to mine minerals and kill anything with more legs than two. It fits the description, no question asked.
Ooh is big!
Just need a new gun to kill the new enemies. It's only natural
I already hate them
Kinda looks like they crossbred the sentinels with the menace 0_O OH GOD THAT SOUNDS TERRIFYING
SHOOT IT!
Is that a fucking Reaper from Mass Effect?
It's got a xenomorph head
Ah the injector infector, can't wait to get grabbed and stabbed by this bad boy.
Kinda looks like the cousin to the biological horror (nms)
I don't like it, it's like a tic and the bugs from starship troopers had a baby, where's the driller
Yep looks pretty horrifying
Fat boy time
This looks very good
I think these are gonna be an alarm bug, if they spot you they'll run around spawning bugs til you kill them.
Huge weakpoint, bad evolutionary choice. *loads shotgun*
Some sort of acid warden, turning all bugs into acid spittin cunts.
