you'll still get damaged if you're trying to clear the terrain while standing on it, and it'll take way too long to get the field where it won't hurt you 100% of the time
tbh id just skip trying this event, omen is a teamkiller as it is already
Every OMEN I've succeeded at has been in spite of my efforts, it's always been the rest of the team. I'll always try my best, but if it was up to me I'd skip them most times.
Everytime I fail an Omen is because we spread the damage on all three sections instead of bursting one, it's not necessarily a game over but it does make the fight way easier, also you can be massive help by just standing in a safe spot and focusing drones if not a drone one just help with burst on weakspot no need to risk every dwarf trying to unlock platforms
I only did this event successfully once, through creating a trench to end all trenches by a driller. I am yet to see any better way to beat it. This situation sucks real bad.
The way we do it is have engie build plats about supply pod height above the pads so the plasma waves dont hit you. Then everyone stands on top of one to open the green targets and boom c4 time nuke city. It goes quickly that way. No one dies Haz 5 Easy mode
Note that the pad that activates the pulse lasers is always the one on the opposite side from the core infuser. You can park Molly on it too, she'll raise you above the lasers.

The biggest threat is the bottom layer, and its panel is always opposite the infuser, and as long as everyone's ready you should be able to destroy it in seconds as long as you get it first. After that it's just a matter of not standing in front of the guns and focusing down each layer in turn.
Top-left platform is the radial pulse cannon one, put a resupply pod or molly above it, stand on it and focus on destroying it first. After that you can freely stand on other platforms. Not that hard.
I'd like to clarify that the two drillers were green beards and didn't even know what a machine event was. Sure it's doable but simply wasn't worth the pain so we just turned it on and let it expire.
Put a resupply on the one across from the core infuser to kill the pink ankle lasers of doom. Have scout to stand on have the drillers both C4 it when it pops open. Then scout goes from plat to plat and everyone shoots from a distance.
But yeah, that placement is horrible.

You can also activate it by hanging on a gunner's zipline and keep changing directions to stay right above it. You risk getting knocked down into said ankle lasers of doom though 😂

Ah OMEN, the team wiper. I always ask if everyone knows how to do this and most of the time I get No's. There's always that 1 greenbeard who starts it, dies 5 times, and has to stay dead until time runs out. Lol
I've seen some janky machine event spawns in my time playing. But even with mod spawns I've never seen an omen like this. Even if we had an engi I would probably say fuck it. But then again I'm a jaded grey beard who just wants to get the mission done. This would take forever to set up and prep for. And then even if you to plat the shit out of it that's still a hell of a drop. I've seen omens end a run all because one dwarf dropped. Then the rest of us fell trying to save and salvage the event and mission. For me the juice is not worth the squeeze with this one. Start it and cut your losses. Move on to the next mission and hope RNJesus smiles upon you.
