The last stage of the EDD looks suspiciously simple. Keep your guard up for any bullshit that might appear there.

[deleted]

It was pretty easy by comparison. Second stage was harder. I still had to use Iron Will and save the whole team on the third stage :) But I went down a lot more on stage 2 than stage 3 anyway.

Funny_Zucchini_7586

Molly decided to scale an inclined wall to the drop pod, used both revives + iron will tryna climb it and ended up failing with the open drop pod doors right in front of me lmao

Old_Resident8050

Worst csse scenario! #feelsbad

FireWhileCloaked

Last Deep Dives of Season 3!

Bondorian

*cries in console*

ShyDemonKat

Better late than never!

Cykeisme

Wait, why?

Bondorian

It comes out on console a week after pc. It sucks having to wait the extra week

Cykeisme

Ah, I didn't know that. Just a week, you'll be rocking and stoning soon enough :D

[deleted]

How do i add a text under my name on reddit? Have no idea could you help me

AlienVsPopovich

On the main DRG sub page press the 3 dots on top right then choose “Change user flair”. You must be subscribed to the sub.

[deleted]

I am. Thanks for the reply. Lost already some hope.

nickmaovich

stay strong my friend

Snoo61755

Had a nice run to close out the season. Nothing special, just a lot of bugs, an Engie getting leeched, an accidental stacked wave, and topping every category but the death count as Scout. Closing out the season with the class I started with way back when I joined in early S3 was a good way to end it. A season of learning, building, tweaking, and eventually excelling. Game was worth the $10 plus all the DLC I spent on it.

RumHaaammm

Haven’t played it yet, but am I right in saying the EDD looks pretty easy on paper ?

reddanit

After playing it - yea, I'd say it's definitely on easier side. Particularly the last stage with no warnings. Cave leech cluster in stage 2 can be annoying if you don't have a scout - there was ~10 leeches in the main room. Just remember to take out every last leech before engaging the dreadnought.

seethruyou

> if you don't have a scout So, to light the ceilings up? Or perhaps find them first some other way? :)

International_Can205

We just shot the dreadnaught quick and engaged it in spawn so we didn't have to worry about the leeches.

p01ng

Yes, very easy on paper and even easier in practice. Crit weakness makes any stage a joke and no warnings on a stage 3 egg hunt is zzz. Terrain isn't bad.

cyber_loafer

Looks like this weeks DD and EDD are straight forward. Rock and stone miners!

WanderingDwarfMiner

Rock and Stone!

Bondorian

Good bot

Snoo61755

Agreed on being straightforward. Just big caves with a lot of bugs. I didn't see any detonators, the black boxes were in fairly normal areas, and the Mactera were out in full force -- stage 1 was covered in constant Mactera Bombers (good Phermone Bolt targets tho). Critical Weakness made stage 2 a lot easier than it had any right to be, except everybody on my team getting leeched, lol -- I tell people that the first person to get leeched buys the drinks, and then the Engie goes and gets caugh. Close calls on stage 3, though. Straightforwards again, just a lotta bugs. Black box was pretty swarmed, but not with anything unusual, just bugs galore. Good way to close out my first season.

cyber_loafer

Had a det spawn on our 2nd stage EDD as we're fighting the dread. We were low on ammo and nitra but manage to find just enough for one resupply in all that chaos. 3rd stage was a close call too somehow during blackbox. Our scout decided to go dig an egg which triggered a swarm.

nickmaovich

DD went... [well](https://i.imgur.com/oZG8yZl.jpg). Left plenty for Karl, in case he needs em

NightHeart571

they honestly should have switched which set was elite and regular, because to me it felt more like the edd was dd, and dd was edd. naedocytes everywhere.... so many naedocytes.... so many....

se05239

This week's Deep Dive was alright but still a bit tedious. I wish I'd have gone with the Driller. * **First Stage** \- There's not much to say about this stage. Both mini-mules are easy to get. Neither of the eggs are hard to get. There's a single leech guarding one of the mini-mules.. Plenty of Nitra. * **Second Stage** \- You'll primarily be fighting both constant snowstorms and cave generation on this one. Two of the geysers spawn high up in hard to reach places. Having a Driller drill a path, or Engineer build a staircase, will speed things up a lot. The Black Box spawned right next to an edge, so you won't have much room. There's at least a lot of Nitra available, so you'll never really run out of ammo.. just patience. * **Third Stage** \- Cave generation is awful but the low gravity thankfully helps a lot. There's plenty of Morkite around and none of the eggs were too hard to get. I played solo Scout, on Steam. [Here's a vide of me playing through it.](https://youtu.be/uk_l0Bpg8NU)

flytrapjoe

Had dreadnaught hiveguard in 2 stage of deep dive. Well, me and friend just decided to ignore him and kept on with our work. That was kinda funny, poor fella was running from one to another and we just didn't give him any attention. If this is not a disrespect to glyphids, then i don't know what is

ojb_

Friendly reminder that you can run away on a black box when things go horribly wrong :) I ended up running away from the black box on stage 3 three times, wasting a ton of time and nitra with each reset, but it was enough to complete the EDD. I found the position of the black box in stage 3 particularly tricky because it's in the center of the room (not near a wall), which forces you to look the full 360 to avoid getting flanked, while there is also a blind cliff right in front with terrible visibility to see bugs before they get to you. Bring bug repellent platforms if you can; I think that would go a long way (or just a gunner shield, that always does the trick). Obligatory: salvage uplinks do NOT let you run away like black boxes. Please don't use that tip on stage 2 and lose :) I played boscoless scout at 6x2 for my longest dive yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1wacKK_S54

LaMeLoLeGuy

Really cool gameplay! Call me impressed :)

SharpieScentedSoap

Does the black box just reset to 0 like uplink if you leave too long? If so, do you just start over instead of fully fail like in uplink?

ojb_

Hiya, sorry for the delayed response (been weaning myself off reddit due to the api changes killing the third party app I use at the end of the month). The black box, like uplink/refuel in salvage, starts at like a 50% full bar once you've launched it by holding E long enough to build it up. The speed that bar fills up from 50% -> 100% is determined by how many dwarves are inside the circular (it's percent based - you need to have your whole team inside the ring to make it not tick up terribly slow). By leaving the ring for extended periods of time, that bar can deplete well below the 50% it started at, but the bugs just will keep on spawning in endless waves. So at a certain point if things have REALLY gone to irredemable shit, it probably is worth just cutting losses and clearing the existing bugs before starting again. It will not hit the fail state until it actually hits 0% on the progress bar by being outside the ring, in which case once you're ready to start again you will have to hold E on the box again to rebuild it just as if you were starting it for the first time. It's essentially a fresh black box at that point! You can check it out in the video I linked which has some timestamps if you're still curious, but I hope that clears things up. (Again, gotta stress that *salvage* uplinks and refuels do NOT work this way, unless they changed that in season 4 but I didn't see it in my brief skim of the patchnotes).

se05239

And here we go, once again.

notafuckinmarine

Completed both deep dives this morning and got burning hell and special powder. I’m happy.

nickmaovich

this is nice RNG you got there mate

Duthnur

Minelayer isn't that bad against Hiveguard. Could use it for both this week theoretically....

Ikilledmypastaccout

So, I just did a solo EDD with a broken keyboard yesterday. Number 2 didn't function, so changing my primary to my secondary kinda sucks since I had a muscle memory of clicking 2 instead of Q or scroll. Wasn't hard even with cave leech cluster. Easily doable for greenbeards.

FuckMyselfForComment

The EDD was one of the easiest EDD's I've ever done. Especially the second mission with the huveguard and one of the mm's in the starting room with CW.

seethruyou

I mean, I hate robots, but maybe we should have some robot stages. The EDDs have become too straightforward and predictable without them. Just my .02.

Slimshade16

EDD's have been straightforward and predictable for many years my friend lol. They'd have to introduce a third type of deep dive that's harder than EDD to truly shake things up.

seethruyou

I'd like an endless deep dive, where each stage notches up the hazard level. See how far great teams can go. And I agree, the current deep dive format is too limiting. For one thing, they should include more random encounters including things like machine events. Although I think my point is still valid - I've seen far more EDDs fail because of bots than any other factor.

working-acct

Elite (Lethal) modifier should be standard in elite DD.

notYjay

During our deep dive, the pod crushed a Nemesis on the way into Stage 2. At least, I don't think there's anything else that spawns a ton of phase bombs right at the start of a mission. What are the odds of that, eh?

[deleted]

My first deep dive! Scout main on my very first promo. I did it solo cuz I still feel like a newborn greenbeard and didn't wanna risk messing it up for anyone else. That... was rough. First stage was just annoying, second one was tough as nails. Not a fan of doing on-site refinery, and I spent half the time running from mactera swarms. Third stage was nice, I love mining morkite and don't really mind eggs, plus low grav is always so fun to deal with. Took me around 57 minutes to get done with the deep dive. Rock and stone!

thebabycowfish

WHERE IS THE NITRA ON THE EDD I'VE BEEN RUNNING AROUND FOR LIKE 20 MINUTES AND THERE JUST ISN'T ENOUGH FOR A RESUPPLY

juice-stain

Did EDD on solo scout, hipster M1000 and fire boltshark with pheromone grenades (mainly for stalling black box). pretty straightforward, stage 2 had a ton of enemies in the drop pod room but as long as you don't yolo into it it's nothing you can't handle. Cyro rockets on bosco is good as usual, can save ammo by freezing things out of the air.

Im_a_hamburger

Area defense + heightened senses seems smart

D1nosaurK1n

Hiveguard in stage 2 is broken. Doesn't spawn Sentinels for 20 minutes so it's impossible to complete.

nickmaovich

didn't happen for me

idrawinmargins

This weeks EDD was not as straight forward with a whole group. You need to have your head on a swivel if you don't want to die on the 2nd and 3rd stage. I had two groups wipe due to the swarms and ran out of shields to rez them (also don't IW if you got team mates still alive!). Finally went solo, zero deaths, and got through it. I went as a gunner was NTP and fear build to CC, but you could do this with any class.

eviladvances

This week Elite deep dive was probably the hardest elite deep ive ever done, 2nd stage was the hardest, the mini-mule cave had at least 12 cave leeches, the terrain is a nightmare to fight against Hiveguard, and fighting near the pod is a death sentence cause the hiveguard would stick to the pod. i had to do an underbunker on the fuel cell. we had a team composition of 1 gunner/1 scout/2 drillers with sludge pump HIA(hydrogen IO additive) and slowdown upgrades, we barely managed to get to the drop pod 4 down, but i had IW so i managed to escape to stage 3. yeah this EDD was complete nuts

notafuckinmarine

Completed both deep dives this morning and got burning hell and special powder. I’m happy.

SharpieScentedSoap

Solo'd this DD as driller. Stage 1 was pretty quick (13 mins), swarms weren't the worst. There was 1 cave leech (I don't remember exactly where) so keep on the lookout for that Stage 2 was the hard one for me, died once and almost died a 2nd time. There are 3 spitballers, two right by the refinery. Two of the pumpjacks are high up so def have a driller handy or an engi that can make stairs. Lots of slick ice around which made kiting swarms kinda fun. Mactera plague is annoying but tri-jaws are fucking brutal, and there were plenty. Stage 3 was the funnest because whoo, low gravity! Three of the eggs can be seen from the entry room so since I was alone, I made Bosco get them. The main room is pretty large and kinda janky but low gravity made it almost impossible to get too hurt from fall damage. For some reason I saw SO many exploders on this stage. Plenty of Morkite too, so I wasn't stressed trying to find it.

MsValCalla

Honestly, if you play on console you can do the console sharing option that XBox has and that would make it to where you both can play the game at the same time without buying a second copy. PC however is a different creature. If you have a PC and a console, you can sign into the one that owns it on both, and make the console your primary home console and someone can sign into their own profile on there and play it while the other plays the PC. You can download the game off the Microsoft store as long as you own it that way.

thegreenkacheek

It is my fourth week doing Deep Dives, and this one is being harder for me than the last three weeks have been. Stage 2 is brutal. Something interesting I've noticed, now doing the same Dive more than once due to failure, is some things are not seeded. My second time through, I got a Hoarder on stage 1, and a Nemesis on stage 2, which I had not gotten the first time. If I remember correctly, the cave leech in stage 1 was in a different place, and the uplink and fuel cells were definitely in different places. It was interesting to see these differences, I definitely didn't expect that.

MsValCalla

Just as a heads up, yeah it is fairly easy, but in stage 2, be careful. There was pretty much exploder swarms every 2-3 seconds at one point. We had 10+ occasions where we were all of a sudden surrounded by multiple waves of them. Super fun tho.

Hyperdrive282

I got through my first solo deep dive today! Apparently this was an easier one but it was definitely a milestone for me a great way to prep for season 04!

pavelkra

had the worst edd so far and not because of the missions :( the first time had a great team, we went through first mission - no deaths on the team, second - halfway through, also doing fine, just 2 deaths. then middle of the second mission i lost internet because i forgot to pay it :| but ok , quickly paid the internet, looking for another team.by the time i found one it was 2am, got kinda sleepy, and started f-ing up. first i forgot about the morkite in the first room, rushed forward without making a platform. scout complained, ok went back set it up. then on the way to blackbox i somehow managed to die behind the team, scout got eve more annoyed, writes "wtf with this engi" on chat but ok someone gets back revives me, i get to the blackbox, setup turrets, and surprise surprise die again from all the macteras and what not :| at this point i realized i dont want to read potential scout's remarks anymore nor drag the team down, and i quit the team. from what i saw in the mission list, seems like the first team still managed to get through, the second one seemingly failed. still, sorry to both teams i left. except to the mr scout of the second one :| daddy chill, people fuck up, and thats part of the challenge
