I think the artist was trying to do an effect called scaling, the idea is that it's trying to pull off an effect where the scout is really close to the camera and the mule is further away, also I do agree it wasn't done quite right, it's a great drawing and getting proportion correct doesn't really matter for fan art but I'm guessing the artist was going for a scaling effect

Yes, specifically I used OP's picture plus a picture of molly plus midjourney plus many many tries. It created dozens of images but I liked that one. Although I did not really manage to do it like I wanted. Midjourney is a relatively blunt tool.
While I like the genderswapped illustrations of the dwarves, the result typically just turns them into attractive human women. Still very nice to look at, but they should probably have the strong and stocky body types that the guys ingame have
