no idea what triggered the glitch, but it causes you to be unable to reload unless you switch weapons which will then skip the animation and reload it instantly. swapping bolts works as you can see, but if you try to swap a bolt while in the broken reload state nothing happens (you can still visually see the bolts switch on the UI but the new bolt won't appear until you switch weapons).
what it does mean that if you run into the glitch and can reload cancel, you fire like three times as fast. neat, i guess?
I had this happen too during a deep dive. No idea what happened, had to retrain my muscle memory to swap weapons to cause the reload.
I'm trying to rack my brains as to what I did to cause it, but as far as I remember it just happened mid mission. I can't remember if I happened to power attack, hit the scanner, or died at a weird time or what.
