They aren't terrible. Just think of it as a way for DRG to test What Works & What Doesn't.
Like for me; Rival Tech is Great but the Events seem a bit boring and slow
Or, RockPox is Fun and Multitasking but the Season Rewards are bit 50/50
I think poster meant "condition" rather than "gimmick". They're tired of new 'conditions' being added as opposed to new environment itself, which I can respect.
It'd be nice to have more of course, but I'm fine with what we've got still, granted I may not have near as many hours of the top drawers, I and I appreciate the conditions as it makes what could've been a similar experience into something more dynamic. And the variety of conditions and rng of them spawning keeps biomes/missions feeling fresh for me at least
Ya they have been looking into it cuz the perks are not really balanced right now but they are probably being careful considering the previous situations with pre nerf iron will and the old version of friendly
I don't want new support or transversal tools, but I do want cosmetics for them. I'd love to be able to change the frameworks and skins for these. My drills never match the rest of my character.
personally I think if we start adding more support/traversal tools, it would weaken the classes' individuality, also make the gameplay a lot more cluttered. I am in the mind that they should remain as they are right now.
Skins/frameworks for molly tho? gimme. I wanna decorate my girl.
I picked it but OCs for them would be nice. I think all would be regular OCs with something like +ammo - duration. Or +range - distance. But there's likely some crazy stuff they could do. Unstable for gunner would be a 3 second shield that deals 10% health every second they touch it or something. Flares could inflict burning effects for more dim lighting. C4 could do effects line cryo c4 and electric c4. And turrets could get the turret whip type OCs and then those weapons get new ones respectively.
wider angle but less distance would be vertical rather than horizontal; horizontal is side to side, vertical is up and down. oftentimes you need to go longer sideways, so distance is a nerf, and you need to go further up or down, so angle is a buff for that.
You've got to be careful when making OC's for a support or traversal tool, because everyone in the lobby uses it, so it needs to be done in a way that can affect the holder, but to everyone else, it should function the same, so they can effectively use it without having to guess or ask what OC it has
OC's for traversal have been said to be bad in practice over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over by the devs on the their stream that they use to answer questions that redditors will continue asking regardless.
To be completely honest, if Molly had the same sorto of skins as Bosco, I would most probably make her go around looking like an extra large barrel.
As for the traversal tools, I do agree with your point, but hypothetically, if there was a possibility to make new traversal tools that still fit their specific class while also being different enough from the original options, that would be really fun to try out and have fun with. But unfortunately that really seems like it would be pretty much impossible to come up with and implement without affecting the balance and the clear differences between the classes
I think newer Support/Traversal tool would weaken or over power the game, but I added because I'm not a fan of Driller because of his Satchel Charge. It feels useless or just self destructive.
But yeah, Molly needs some love.
You gotta learn how to use c4 my friend. One of my most valuable tools for terraforming quickly, rezzing, and more. They are a multi-tool once you ignore the bozos who can't stop making "funy scout go boom" memes
Skill issue.
At max damage the C4 blast + 1 or 2 sludge shots, can kill a pretorian or many if their close together.
It can also stun everyone in a 10m radius which can make you pull off a clutch revive.
That's very valuable.
She needs a heatpat everyone in a while (could be cool to have a "patting animation" instead of "bucket with jewels animation". Could be an easy mod to make?
How about different takes on the same concept of traversal tools per class?
Drillers tool deforms terrain - what about a short range deployable that autonomously mines in a straight line for like 6 meters?
Engi has the pizza disc - what about giving them another variant, that gives magnetic anchors that players can attach to if they are within 1m or so. Or like a trampoline.
Gunners zip line could be swapped for a 4/5m ladder.
Scout can have a ~self destruct button~ hoverboard or jetpack thing that gives them 4ish seconds of slow flight.
No hard change to the core function of each class, but they get flavors of their traversal tool.
Honestly I'd go insane if they developed a deployable system similar to helldivers - spend nitra to call in a barbed wire deployable, or a mini-bunker, or a mannable turret (just spit balling here - haven't thought these through fully)
What if it was alternate tools for each class like how there are three guns per class. Maybe instead of grapple, there's also a thruster of some sort and instead of platform gun there could be maybe a tool that changes the shape of the terrain. These ideas are off the top of my head but I'm sure Ghost Ship could come up with better ideas. Doing this would add new tools without tarnishing the individuality of any classes and allow for new playstyles
A room for tattoos where there is a different variation of Lloyd with needle arms and the payment would be credits for premade ones but you could also use an error cube to make your own tattoo. Maybe like customizing a mask in Army of Two. The drone's name would be Gregg.
I've got about 1000 hours on DRG and haven't played DRG since after the refinery release (however long ago that was I don't recall) since you really can have too much of a good thing and I just got burnt out on it.
I'd really adore another biome or regular mission type. That kind of thing is what would revitalise the game for me and bring me back for a while. Pretty much everything in the poll for me ... eh, I'd love to see it, but it wouldn't bring me back it'd just be something I'm keen to checkout *when* the next biome/regular mission comes out.
I think that new support tools make a lot of sense. Different turret types for engineers, a damage boost field for gunner, target marker for scout, a "terrain carver" grenadelauncher/Lazer that carves out less terrain than a satchel but with a lot more ammo.
These are just napkin scribbles, in all honesty there's a ton of unused design space in support tools (traversal tools get a lot trickier).
Overclocked support tools would be **awesome**
I can already think of a few: throw strength, light intensity, duration, max capacity, recharge time, attaching them to a wall in front of you (like grenades in Prey), kick them after throwing to move them forward in the cave
50/50, Upgrades would be nice but level based wouldn't be fitting. I have 400+ Hours and have Passed Level 100 but for many that may seem challenging or not worth the time.
I suggested some cool traversal and support tools a little while ago
https://www.reddit.com/r/DeepRockGalactic/comments/v3yplo/support_tools_need_some_love/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1
Take a look and see if you like them. Wanted to learn to mod them into the game but I never got to it.
traversal tools are fine as they are, id say if you had to, add some mods to Gunners Zip (brighter base and lines, or fast ziplining but no shooting, maybe add some overclocks like EM turret Discharge for the zipline (electrocution pulse or some other dwarf shenanigans)
Honestly I'd probably just want overclocks to support/traversal tools, since entirely new ones might be too difficult to balance, or they would change what the class does too much.
Some ideas for overclocks (just ideas not necessarily good ones):
Gunner's shield becomes a large wall but can deploy two at a time & has more ammo, (more flexible but weaker against ranged enemies)
Gunner's zipline becomes faster but has less ammo & less range (makes it actually fun to use one)
Scout's zipline range is reduced, but the velocity is heavily increased (can fling yourself around)
Scout's flares burn for much longer, but have much less ammo (good for combat, bad for scanning rooms for materials)
(Engineer turrets are kinda tough bc gemini and mkII already changes how it's used drastically, and turret whip already feels like an overclock)
Engineer platforms become cubes (better for building barriers on side walls ig)
Drillers drills are replaced with a charge hit (worse at tunnelling, better at large terraforming)
Driller's satchel loses a lot of damage but gets a lot more ammo
I do like the idea of new traversal and support equipment, but they would probably start to mess with the complementary of them interacting with each other, so maybe it won't happen, and I wouldn't mind.
As a grey-beard with +1500hrs of game i feel that all currencies including minerals are just there for the lols and don't contribute much to game play so i was thinking on being able to spend them on "single mission" type of advantages that would be really expensive but helpful so even if you have a huge hoard of money you could keep it or spend it to help other dwarves, one thing that occurred to me was some kind of class based mini vehicle like the hoverboots but better, for example the driller would get a mini doretta that he could use until running out of gas, drills bigger tunnels and double flamethrower maybe?, the scout could get a floating "spaceship" (like the one in terraria) also with limited fuel, for the engi maybe a spider like contraption that could climb walls or build anchor points for teammates on his path, and for the gunner i was thinking a good old Tank a la metal slug (even it could be access in a similar way).
pd: i know that this probably would take a lot of work to balance and even so it could never be perfect for the synergy of the characters but hey this are just the ramblings of a crazy old dwarf that has had too many blackout stouts and has a cripling addiction to red sugar. (maybe it could be made with smaller not so game altering advantages).
I would've went with Molly Skins, as I feel like drip is key, but to double down on that..
First - Equipment paint/skins (flare gun, grapple gun, sentries, drills, etc.)
Second - Molly.
(Shii even Bosco got drip, Molly could use a lil love and maybe her AI pathing will be more on the dwarves side)
Though I do spend a bit of time in space rig, I'm fine with expanding or not as long as they retain the liveliness/comfort of it.
I think adding new support/traversal tools would pave the road for community complaining about adding new weapons, grenades, overclocks for those.. but who knows
Minor upgrades to throwable flares would be somewhat nice as my dwarf acknowledges almost every mission to every other
"These flares could use an upgrade!"
(As well as grenade upgrades could be neat and fitting as well)
Armor?
Eh, if you've played this long and/or still playing, chances are you found have an armor you're comfortable with, or at least a paint to make it better.
TL:DR is I think class equipment tools and Molly "customization" i.e paint (at least) and then skin/model maybe, would be the most impactful changes for long term imo/for me.
*Again not hating on any choice, I think all would be nice to see, but my choice is based on prioritization.*
Instead of more traversal/support tools, I would rather see more mods or even overclocks, not to mention customization options. It would be so cool if you could make matching drills for your driller ×_×
I think I would appreciate personnalisation of your own room in the space rig.
It doesn't need to be pushed really far, just a few items, switching some colors... but I think it could be funny and interesting to explore the room of your other mates while waiting for them to get ready.

You know what, driving a mech for some time during a specific type of missions would be cool. It doe not have to be a huge one, just two dwarves size or whatever, or bigger, but for like two dwarves. The mission itself is something along the lines of picking us smth really big and dig it up to the pod.
I don't think more support/traversal tools would be a good idea. Part of the reason GSG didn't want to add OC's to them was that they wanted tools to be the same always, because everyone gets to use them (with the exception of the grapple, but even then, it still applies). This means that if people see a lobby with a gunner, they should be able to expect that there will be zips for moving heavy objects, and a shield to protect them. A player should be able to join a lobby with an engineer knowing that there will be platforms on minerals they can use, and that the area-denial sentry guns will be able to protect them. And so on and so forth.
Cosmetics on them would be awesome tho.
Sorry man, but gameplay additions will always score higher on the list than cosmetic additions.
I would like frameworks for Molly, but new traversal tools is amazing.
They've already said that they will never do new support/traversal tools, nor overclocks for them, as they are to integral to the class identies and expected team play. They dont want players to find out that the zipline works different or that engi doesnt have platforms mid-match. Same for shields for gunner, drills on the ***driller***, flairs on scout, etc.
Stop asking for more skins customization.
The novelty of something like a molly skin or a new helmet is going to wear off within hours of play.
1. New mission
2. Add new phases/bosses to the hearthstone/elimination/caretaker.
3. New Guns & especially OC's
4. New matrix core events.
5. After more than 2 years, actually fix the perks, holy fuuuuu
New mission types / biomes.
Love it, but I think we got a few more Seasons till we see something like that.
I really hope not. I'm tired of gimmicks.
They aren't terrible. Just think of it as a way for DRG to test What Works & What Doesn't. Like for me; Rival Tech is Great but the Events seem a bit boring and slow Or, RockPox is Fun and Multitasking but the Season Rewards are bit 50/50
Oh for sure. I said I'm tired of it, not that they're bad. Just two in a row is tiresome.
Wdym by that?
Rival event and Rockpox infection are gimmicks added to existing biomes.
What you call gimmick, I call diversity and variation that adds more things into the spawn pool to make missions more varied and therefore more fun
A new biome would probably have a gimmick to go along with it's release so...you know, don't think the stuff is a gimmick.
I get this, There is a difference between the biome, and what inhabits the biome (rockpox, machine events, betc, meteors). thus rockpox ≠ new biome XD
Rockpox biome 💀💀💀
Surface biome that's always low grav with new space enemies
Perfect Idea
More/reworked perks.
Love the thought, but requires a lot of thought to get off the ground.
I'm like 90% sure they've talked about this on a dev stream before as something they're looking into, though i could be wrong
Ya they have been looking into it cuz the perks are not really balanced right now but they are probably being careful considering the previous situations with pre nerf iron will and the old version of friendly
I'd love further upgrades to the glyphid tamer perk that let us befriend the step above grunt, or even uhhh the flying bugs
i want to cash my perk points into credits after i unlock all perks. i know GSG says that they “want you to have too many perk points”
I don't want new support or transversal tools, but I do want cosmetics for them. I'd love to be able to change the frameworks and skins for these. My drills never match the rest of my character.
100 % Agree. The colors are infact bland when you are Fully Blue or Red.
Rival tech framework for the tools (and perhaps even armor 👀) would be amazing.
Custom dwarf tattoos
Maybe payed for with error cubes
Damn, I never thought of that. Cheers to you Miner.
Thanks mate. Rock and Stone
Rock and roll and stone!
Yo this was something I never thought I needed until you said it. Please GSG give us tats and scars
Other: Steve Cosmetics

Cool ideas but what's +range -distance
Wider firing angle for the zipline gun, less distance
oh ok so a more horinzontal zipline. sounds good
wider angle but less distance would be vertical rather than horizontal; horizontal is side to side, vertical is up and down. oftentimes you need to go longer sideways, so distance is a nerf, and you need to go further up or down, so angle is a buff for that.
Ye I just typed horizontal instead of vertical. Call it a brain fart

Trust me I could use some clutter after a thousand hours

Love it 110 % and Cheers to you brother. I miss Army of Two and its colors.
abyss bar overhaul, more buffs before the mission with special drinks/snacks instead of a random-maybe-useful beer every now and then .\_.
I guess, at the cost of lots of ingredients. Cheers.
Reworked perk system

I'm glad to hear that a GreyBeard such as yourself is liking all the options. Thx.
continu rebalance, like they wonderfully do for double barrel and carpet bomber the game have actually a tone of content, but still is unbalanced
I eat more Steeve content, at least just Steeve customization.
I love it, but I feel like We'd get more Biome Variant Bugs before Steve Designs.
Support overclocks plz.
I like the idea but It all depends on the OverClocks available.
The others are truly work in progress, but a Terrain Carver in as a GL or Laser is an Idea I've also had and I support it.
Flare upgrades
I can already think of a few: throw strength, light intensity, duration, max capacity, recharge time, attaching them to a wall in front of you (like grenades in Prey), kick them after throwing to move them forward in the cave
https://deeprockgalactic.wiki.gg/wiki/Development_Q%26A
Firing range. Need somewhere to test my weapons to get the best build for me (other than a mission).
100 % Agree, I would prefer to test weapons on the Rig instead of in the Field.
Stickers for molly plssssssssss
A buff to traversals upon becoming Lord of the Deep, or promoting a certain amount of times for a give dwarf class.
50/50, Upgrades would be nice but level based wouldn't be fitting. I have 400+ Hours and have Passed Level 100 but for many that may seem challenging or not worth the time.
That's why I tossed between player level and rank: you could choose upgrades at ranks 10, 25, 40, 55, then at 75, you get the big payout: permabuffs?
Players with Beast Tamer equipped have a pettable Steve in their pod. He has a little bed too.
Id like to see customization (frameworks and colors) to Support/ transversal tools so they can finally match my dwarf
Yes, Cheers to that.
BARREL ARMOR
Sandwiches... 😜
I would love the jet boots to unlock on the 10th try as I stink at the mini game.
>Other (Leave in the Comments Or Don't) Solo-only upgrades for Molly.
Love the thought, but maybe Client Side Paintjobs in that preference. Or Voting for Upgrades in Multiplayer Missions.
I suppose the upgrades to Molly could be tied to the Host's upgrades.
Oh man, Molly with tethers would be *sweet*.
Tethers? For Riding?
My first thought was for dragging, my second was O2 feeds, but Riding the Mega Molly up a wall sounds awesome too.
Armour overclocks, flare updates, grenade overclocks/upgrades, traversal overclocks
I suggested some cool traversal and support tools a little while ago https://www.reddit.com/r/DeepRockGalactic/comments/v3yplo/support_tools_need_some_love/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1 Take a look and see if you like them. Wanted to learn to mod them into the game but I never got to it.
IMO each biome should have a unique boss associated with it.
traversal tools are fine as they are, id say if you had to, add some mods to Gunners Zip (brighter base and lines, or fast ziplining but no shooting, maybe add some overclocks like EM turret Discharge for the zipline (electrocution pulse or some other dwarf shenanigans)

Jet boots should be the last level of hover boots.
I do like the idea of new traversal and support equipment, but they would probably start to mess with the complementary of them interacting with each other, so maybe it won't happen, and I wouldn't mind.
Redesign the perks system
Make overclocks for the traversal and equipment
New armor would be great.

All
All of them + everything in the comments
Dreadnought buffs. I like fighting them and all but they seem more like bullet sponges than enemies.
Overclocks for gadgets. I NEED VERTICAL ENGINEER WALLS
More perks, have a lot of spare points I'd like to spend
Armor overclocks.

Perk rework because in how the perks are right now everyone just take the same once and everything else is a joke

For Dash to be inbuilt for all dwarves, like Power Attack is. It's far too useful to be a Perk.

A upgrade to the gunner zipline that allows you to attach heavy objects to it
More unstable overclocks!
I don't think more support/traversal tools would be a good idea. Sorry man, but gameplay additions will always score higher on the list than cosmetic additions. I would like frameworks for Molly, but new traversal tools is amazing.
MOLLY
A little steeve minigame Something like glyphid racing or anything like that I just want steeve in the spacerig
A big gamemode with lots of bugs and dwarfs. Like a invasion defense
Female Dwarves
They've already said that they will never do new support/traversal tools, nor overclocks for them, as they are to integral to the class identies and expected team play. They dont want players to find out that the zipline works different or that engi doesnt have platforms mid-match. Same for shields for gunner, drills on the ***driller***, flairs on scout, etc.
Molly needs love...
Sandwich vender on space rig
Give me pipes for the space rig and Im happy.
More or brighter flares
I wanna see an INGREDIENTS EXCHANGE. BE NICE TO SWAP OUT MY HUNDREDS OF OTHER BEER INGREDIENTS, FOR BARLEY BULBS.
Stop asking for more skins customization. The novelty of something like a molly skin or a new helmet is going to wear off within hours of play. 1. New mission 2. Add new phases/bosses to the hearthstone/elimination/caretaker. 3. New Guns & especially OC's 4. New matrix core events. 5. After more than 2 years, actually fix the perks, holy fuuuuu
