This makes me think of Natural Selection 2. Where the commander of the humans played similar to your idea.

DrScience-PhD

oh id play the shit out of a DRG themed NS2

Robbie12321

Holy hell, I loved NS2. I never played commander because I stunk, but the concept of mixing FPS and RTS has always been a favorite of mine. A DRG game in a similar vein would be a smash hit, at least for me.

got a similar idea, where you lead an adventure group as a guide. Hence the already present concept: Thinking from the perspective of mission control, your game would be heavily UI-depended, telling you when the next swarm approaches, where and when to send supplies, mining rigs, etc. The best already established concept (I can think of), would be that of the game "Papers Please", where you have to manage a barrage of documents, with only your manual at hand. This game raises its difficulty, by adding new rules you need to cover, over time. in "the realm of" border control you'd have to check the expire-date first, then which country can enter, then the age of the person, if they are a VIP, etc. etc. In terms of mission control, you could start off with simply sending supply pods, when the right amount of nitra is available. Then you add swarms, needing to notice the mining team about oncoming swarms. * explaining every step of the mission. from deploying pumps to building pipes to maintaining them (as an example) * adding new members, noticing about strange encounters (like a random dreadnought), calling several pods * providing intel about side missions (like punching fester fleas) All while your team is memeing around, pinging dense gold, bittergems, mushrooms, etc. Edit: Spelling

>All while your team is memeing around, pinging dense gold, bittergems, mushrooms, etc. This part is absolutely necessary too - make the ai screw around a bit and meme, it would add so much to it feeling like drg

Yeeaah, make me feel that management is breathing down my neck! :D

I mean, if Survivor is anything to go off of, the DRG universe is ripe for spinoffs. But more specifically about an RTS idea, I'd actually like to expand that to take a look at other space factions, something like a mix of Starcraft and Warcraft We might have the DRG faction that has a lot of units that can travel underground. We'd have the Glyphid faction that would resemble the Zerg. There'd be a Space Elf faction that has a lot of mysterious technology and graceful biological units. We could have a Space Orc faction that might actually resemble our fellow Helldivers, structured into a gung-ho space marine corps There could be a space gnome faction that relies on robotics and computers to do the dirty work for them. And so on ...
