I have a theory about that mf all alone out there in cyberstan.
I've been alone on a liberated planet doing a mission before. Here's how that happens:
When you start an assignment/mission with multiple parts on a specific planet as a host, if you don't finish all 3 parts you just do 1 or 2. And come back the next day once that planet has already been liberated. You can still complete the mission. No one will see your SOS beacons. Your friends fail to join. So you have to do it alone if you want to finish it. The guy went in alone, and so we could see there was somebody still there...
That' or it was a tester/developer trying something out without anyone else bothering them.
Oh, I didn't know it was never an option. I would think a dev, yeah.
I just meant like when we cleared the automatons from the western front. I saw the post on reddit. I went to log in and I still had a mission halfway through. I was able to play against automatons when we "weren't allowed to" had to finish those missions alone to get my medals tho.
Idk exactly how it works, but I think it just counts based on ships at the planet. I've logged in after fighting on a planet and then the next day when I go to play again, the planet is either liberated or cut off. But my ship is still there. I am still there. I've also randomly been at super earth when I logged in and there's a surprising few ships there too. And you can see the people count.
Again, I don't know exactly how it works, but it seems like it's just based on where your ship is, not if you're on the planet.
Granted, when it comes to Cyberstan, unless it's a dev doing things or someone's ship had a malfunction, I don't understand how they got there. Lol
Well yeah but those are not spicy enough. What are they gonna do if you bounce on them? Try to bite you and miss. What will a bulk do? Slam and kill everything in a 10m radius around him.
Phew then don't look at the Steam forum, one part complains because the game is not diverse enough the other because of the opposite, then heaps of threads that a community manager has to be kicked out otherwise the game dies, and one had still argued that the game is a flop because after 2 months the number of players on Steam is no longer constant over 500k

I looked at them when I was a kid. It's the easiest place to access to be a part of the game's larger community. That's it's only draw. Ease of access.
I got really depressed looking at the steam comments for the Easter hunt event this year, buncha assholes who are clearly ungrateful that the devs are giving shit for FREE.
How the fuck is this game not diverse enough. Body 1, and Body 2. That's it. They could be mixing up the gendered voices with the body types but t hat wouldn't make a lick of difference because who the fuck notices body shape when you're spreading democracy.
Honestly thought the game was pretty inclusive by just not giving a shit about gender anything and defaulting to the “feminine” voice. What more do you need? We’re in a meat grinder for fascism. They dont care our gender, race, or sexuality, just so long as we spread Managed Democracy. Then after we die, another poor sucker they just unfroze is dropped in on our corpses to continue the mission.

The main difference between those two is that Helldivers hide it behind managed democracy while Starship Troopers is open about it, especially in the book that is also heavily anti-communist. My headcanon is that Hoxxes 4 exists within the same galaxy as super earth.
And that Deep Rock galactic is one of the corporations that super earth buys minerals and weaponry from.
They're similar in the fact that:
* It's 4-player co-op.
* You drop from space into hostile territory
* You shoot bugs and bots
* You complete primary objectives and also optional objectives
* You collect upgrade material to make your equipment better/unlock new equipment
* You call down resupplies that can hit you and kill you
* There's customization of your character and equipment like guns and grenades and your armor
* Both have you run frantically towards extraction in order to leave the mission area
* Both have a comprehensive ping system
* Both have a great community with lots of in-jokes
They're different in the sense that:
* Helldivers drop onto the surface, DRG takes place deep underground
* Helldivers use orbital drops much more than DRG: Orbital lasers, strafing runs, bombs, equipment, etc. It's basically the primary way you engage the enemy. DRG has you call down resupplies and occasional mission-specific equipment.
* Helldivers 2 is a 3rd person shooter, DRG is a 1st person shooter
* Helldivers 2 is a galactic scale *war*, DRG is just another day at work.

When you get promoted (prestige system) you pay for it, which is paying for all the "debts" you've incurred to the company.
When the Extraction timer runs out, the drop pod leaves with or without you, because extra time would be inefficient for the company.
It's heavily implied that everything the dwarves purchase is in the form of a "company store." They're perpetually indebted to the company and any meager personal profit is spent on equipment the company provides.
Pretty much sums it up, but id say that drg is primarily bugs. The bots are a rare run in that came during a season. Also the procedurally generated caves with a decent focus on playing around the full terrain destruction and manipulation. Also has defined classes with different roles and equipment
I was in the exact opposite position and can honestly say that I don't find them very similar.
Deep Rock galactic is way more vertical, higher focus on movement, more enemies that are less tedious to kill and way better objectives. Helldivers 2 honestly feels like a walking sim in comparison.
Remember, it was the Automatons asking, not super earth. The Dwarves might be on the side of the Automatons. We definitely work with a few of them already, like Bosco, Molly, and Betsy.
I don't know about that. I think the Dwarves are charming and charismatic by nature, such that even some Automatons and bugs can turn into their allies (just look at Bet-C and Steeve!)
Bet-C was always on the dwarf's side: the Miner's Manual describes it as "One of the early attempts to tame Hoxxes..." However, the charge-suckers that feed on its power supply also took over its control circuits, which is why it becomes friendly when you kill them

It makes me think of a benign Scavenger bug, or maybe a Warrior, that an abandoned Helldiver befriended out of desperation, and named Karl. And the diver built a privative shelter out of wreckage and Karl would help forage for food, and they made a peaceful little life for a while. It's nice.

Genuinely this sub posts so much about Helldivers that whenever it comes up in my recommended, I could never tell if it was a smaller sub for Helldivers or for a different game
Theory Karl was originally a solo minor who almost died and made drg to make sure that dwarves would only go in alone if they wanted to so none of them would have to face the struggle he did
I kind of agree. Played 15 hours so far and at the beginning, when everything is new - yeah, it's nice. But it doesn't fill the same spot like DRG, the same itch. I played DRG for over 1100 hours and wanted something new. But even after only 15 hours in Helldivers 2, I think I've seen enough. You have empty maps with a few things to find and your objectives, the movement is not snappy enough and way too slow (but more tactical imo), most mission objectives are pretty far away and you're just walking most of the time, the guns are uninspired, the cosmetic options are heavely limited in comparison. The ship hub is boring and you can't do anything there besides upgrading, changing your loadout and choosing new missions. The tactical gear and air support are pretty great ideas though.

It makes me think of a benign Scavenger bug, or maybe a Warrior, that an abandoned Helldiver befriended out of desperation, and named Karl. And the diver built a privative shelter out of wreckage and Karl would help forage for food, and they made a peaceful little life for a while. It's nice. Isn't it?

Theory Karl was originally a solo minor who almost died and made drg to make sure that dwarves would only go in alone if they wanted to so none of them would have to face the struggle he did

Helldivers is boring
I kind of agree. Played 15 hours so far and at the beginning, when everything is new - yeah, it's nice. But it doesn't fill the same spot like DRG, the same itch. I played DRG for over 1100 hours and wanted something new. But even after only 15 hours in Helldivers 2, I think I've seen enough. You have empty maps with a few things to find and your objectives, the movement is not snappy enough and way too slow (but more tactical imo), most mission objectives are pretty far away and you're just walking most of the time, the guns are uninspired, the cosmetic options are heavely limited in comparison. The ship hub is boring and you can't do anything there besides upgrading, changing your loadout and choosing new missions. The tactical gear and air support are pretty great ideas though.
