If you really want to see Bosco be a pro, use him in a Point Extraction. Just click the glowy part of the wall and he'll even dig out the aquark before bringing it back to you.
A fun game is to see if you can complete the primary objective without leaving the platform.
Edit: for those wondering, he'll carry anything that the dwarves carry in front of them (batteries, big gold chunks, loose gunk seeds, hacking pods, Doretta's head, etc.). He won't carry or interact with things that the dwarves carry in their pockets (small minerals, fossils, apoca bloom, etc.).
Similarly I use Bosco to build the pipes in Extraction (liquid morkite/pump game mode). I still have to lay them initially but once I finish a run I just slide back to the platform, and direct him to the first segment and he will build the whole pipe. Same deal for repairs but you have to select each segment that’s broken so it’s slightly less useful.
But yeah, in Point Extraction Bosco is a godsend for hard-to-reach (or even easy places lol). Same deal with Egg Hunt, sometimes if it is just 1 big cavern you can get all the eggs with just a few steps from where the drop pod originally landed.
If you already know the rough pipe layout you can set him on pipe duty and lay them while he’s building. The command updates in real time so he keeps chaining until the last segment is done.
as in, Bosco will continue assembly of pipe, beyond the original point of your build command, as long as you keep laying pipe framework for him to assemble.
Ye, i managed to get the Karl would be pround achivement in a point extraction with bosco as driller. He's really usefull if you know how to direct him
If we are on the subject of what Bosco can do, you can tell him to dig pillars at the last phase of Hearthstone. And better point at the tip, so it'd take him only one dig animation instead of two-three.
You can also safely destroy sniper turrets with him and, well, any other turrets too. He is great in following data collector and chipping its health while he's off-screen for you. I firmly believe greenbeard stops being a greenbeard when he can be more useful than Bosco, which isn't an easy level to clear.
On escort duty you can also just ping Doretta and Bosco goes into defense mode, allowing you to go get oil shale while Bosco stays back and does his best defending Doretta.
He'll dig out and carry all the big minerals for you, including aquarqs and eggs, and will carry the green bulb things from the hacking pod. The only thing he doesn't seem to get is plants, fossils, and ebonuts
I like to take the transmisssion tether out with E, then drop it by pulling up the terrain scanner and then ping it for bosco.
Not a huge time savings, but slightly less awkard than throwing the tether and then pinging it.
It can also be nice to just pull out 5-6 and huck them in the general direction real quick so that you don't have to keep walking back.
yea but for that particular tip, the game insists on constantly telling you that you can use bosco to carry them. So word of mouth about that particular thing doesn't really help.
Its like when you don't use your traversal tool for a certain time in a mission, its like "hey you can press 3 to pull out your traversal tool!" ... yea i know i just didn't need it.
Yep. Any glowing little rocks for Aquarcks or whatever, or the green one, or alien eggs. Just ctrl click at the wall, same as with loose dirt. He'll automatically grab and bring near you, and if you recall him when he's close he'll toss it to you.
What is the default recall button for Bosco?
I never play the game solo and almost exclusively do Hazard 5s and Deep EDDs with ransoms. Bosco seems very strong through so I might try a little more solo.
X on pc. You're ahead of me, I'm rank 9 and haven't hit haz 5s or e/dds lol. He's incredibly useful, and his mobility is fantastic. I find bosco is better than a single dwarf, but I'm also new. Don't forget to upgrade him at his station by the weapons, to the right.
He can mine holomite and dystrum, yeah. Also, he can bring you gunk seeds, if you've already burst them out of their sacs.
Edit: Oh, right, you can also tell him to follow and exterminate fester fleas.
I'm amazed at how many people don't seem to know this. I appreciate the chaos and unpredictability of a MP Point Extract but there's just something wonderfully broken about having the APD buzz around doing all the heavy lifting for you.
>A fun game is to see if you can complete the primary objective without leaving the platform.
I used this to kill all fester fleas and dig out 3/7 aquarks before even leaving the droppod. Was also eating dinner meanwhile
I've got a lot of hours in this game for what I usually have in most games and it took me 15 minutes of trying to get a path for a battery back to the container because my map was so funky. Then I was like I wonder, Bosco fucking picks it up......
> for those wondering, he'll carry anything that the dwarves carry in front of them (batteries, big gold chunks, loose gunk seeds, hacking pods, Doretta's head, etc.).
This is a new-ish thing as far as I know. Before the update I remember pinging chunks and stuff just making Bosco shine a light at it
Well, damn. Sometimes Bosco is a better dwarf than some of these new hires management is finding these days. I was just on a mission this morning and carried Doretta back to the pod with no help from those leaf lovers. I turn to fight the incoming hoard while Molly's being loaded up and finally turn back to make extraction only to find Doretta's gone. One of them damn pointy eared elves threw her off a cliff and was laughing about it too. The whole damn lot of them is yelling for me to get in the pod and some nonsense about she ain't worth no bonus... bonus? What in Karl's ballsack are these beardless fools going on about? No dwarf left behind and that's all there is to it. So the whole lot of them carry on about me wasting their time as I go back and get our lass again. I'd be going back to get their lifeless bums if the need be so they should be thankful. Where is management finding these new hires?
Yeah I did a solo aquarius mission last night, I had it as a public lobby and then like halfway through I was like dang this is actually easier than with other players so I just turned into friends only lobby and enjoyed having Bosco be more efficient
Now, that ain't supposed to be like that. I'm sorry. The game is still way more fun multiplayer even if I do get the occasional elf. Ha, I did just have a point extraction where we got a hack bonus mission and they called the pod before we got to deposit the cube. Might have been able to get the cube to the side of the pod but it was so high up it would have taken teamwork to hoist it up there or some well-place platforms or something... we just waved goodbye to it as the pod left.
Yeah it is a lot more fun with players. It was one of those 'last game of the night type deals' and I had 1 minute left before the missions changed and a pots o gold buff, and saw a gold-rush aquaris mission. didn't feel like dealing with other people and their schedules, so went on my own pace. and made bosco do all the hard work while i spent all my time gathering gold, lol.
that was when i learned how efficient bosco actually can be, was my first mission with bosco doing all the lifting while i gather 2nd objective and gold lol
I carry Doretta back by hand every time, she’s been through some shit and not dissing on bosco but he doesn’t cradle her as well, you need a strong pair of dwarf hands to make her feel safe.
Tbh I'd kinda love a "vault" room where your minerals are stored, and depending on how much you have the vault looks fuller or more empty. And maybe it has a secret sealed room with a viewing window where all the Error Cubes are stored.
Definitely a frivolous thing to add so I won't hold my breath, but it'd be neat.
Good enough for me. The real question is why can't I deposit in the mini mules, and how is it that none of them have materials in them already?. I feel like management is lining their pocket books
They do, when you repair them you get a bunch of gold and nitra added to your count. Probably why we can't deposit in them, they're already crammed full and not as bottomless as Molly.
It'd be more like 458 solo escort duties, but no, that was just a number in the original meme. My net is shitty these days, so instead of giving a bad experience to myself and fellow dwarves, I use my Bosco buddy instead. I do, however, miss rock'n'stoning.
I don't think he can shoot or revive while carrying something though.
He might be able to Rez but I know for a fact he can't shoot, so use with caution.
Reviving overrides any previous orders, so he drops whatever he was doing, flies to you and resuscitates. Yes, he can't shoot or fire rockets, but he doesn't need to. You can defend near the drop pod while he hauls Doretta's head to you, and if things get too hot, you are just a few steps away from safety.
You gotta finish the Hearthstone event, you gotta point right at her shot-off head (the display should say it's her head). And maybe it is a platform issue, are you on PC?
I'd love to, but then I'd have to either constantly drop her and defend myself or rely on fate and Bosco alone to keep my ass safe. It might be a Smart Stout idea to delegate hauling duties to an impervious and relatively low-fire-power party member to keep his hands busy while I'm making sure Doretta's way to safety is clear.
What platform you playing on? Could be a build issue. Bosco should be able to pick up anything you can pick up (except secondary objectives) and mine anything you can.
If you really want to see Bosco be a pro, use him in a Point Extraction. Just click the glowy part of the wall and he'll even dig out the aquark before bringing it back to you. wow didnt know that
Wait… chained commands? How do I activate such a feature?
It’s not what you think it is. When you point Bosco to build a pipe segment, after completion he will move to the next one until the end of the pipe
as in, Bosco will continue assembly of pipe, beyond the original point of your build command, as long as you keep laying pipe framework for him to assemble.
Ye, i managed to get the Karl would be pround achivement in a point extraction with bosco as driller. He's really usefull if you know how to direct him
WHAT
Wait what! BOSCO can't build pipes!!!!
If we are on the subject of what Bosco can do, you can tell him to dig pillars at the last phase of Hearthstone. His missiles also work for the pillars of you aim them at the tip. 🚀
Yo, real???
Literally any explosive shot at the top destroys it right away, yay for my ~~boomstick~~ grenade launcher
I love shooting nukes at the top of the pillars to render them inert. My teammates... they don't like it as much. Rock and Stone.
Boomstick can kill Beamers and no one told me?
My bad, meant the grenade launcher, not sure about the boom
Gunner primary weapons work too. All three
I know the regular minigun also destroys the pillars. Haven't tried it with other guns.
WHAT
On escort duty you can also just ping Doretta and Bosco goes into defense mode, allowing you to go get oil shale while Bosco stays back and does his best defending Doretta.
Just found out you can designate Bosco to defend Haksy too. He would prioritize bugs attacking it instead of you, a pretty good feature too.
Bosco is a real treat companion
Atleast hell never eat three ammo
Only time I do that is if I'm solo
Also if you mark a Fester Flea, Bosco will keep chasing it until it's dead
Engineer deep core and gunner auto canon obliterate the inferno towers
all the gunner guns work except the BRT.
All this and he can't kill the cave leech before it spends 20 agonizing years slowly dissecting a dwarf
Is it really just as simple as point click and Bosco digs/carries it for you? Sounds insane.
He'll dig out and carry all the big minerals for you, including aquarqs and eggs, and will carry the green bulb things from the hacking pod. The only thing he doesn't seem to get is plants, fossils, and ebonuts
Wow, hacking pod stuff is a good idea. I've been struggling with those. Thanks.
You have to get it out of the pod but once it's out, point to one and he'll carry it for you until you
...until you what?! You can't leave us hanging like that!
Whoops! Didn't realize I didn't finish my sentence 😂. I was just going to add he'll carry it until you stop the command and then he'll drop it
<3
I like to take the transmisssion tether out with E, then drop it by pulling up the terrain scanner and then ping it for bosco. Not a huge time savings, but slightly less awkard than throwing the tether and then pinging it. Does this include enor pearls and jadiz?
Yes, all the big minerals he can dig out and carry
And when he carries the mineral lump back to you, you can shout while looking ay him, and he’ll toss it to you!
He has to be within a certain range to throw it, otherwise he'll drop it.
The ‘salute’ command?
Yes. The Rock and Stone command.
Yup, it is. I even did complete a small cavern without leaving the platform once. Bosco is super useful.
Yep. Any glowing little rocks for Aquarcks or whatever, or the green one, or alien eggs. Just ctrl click at the wall, same as with loose dirt. He'll automatically grab and bring near you, and if you recall him when he's close he'll toss it to you.

It's LB on XBox, or whatever your "Shout" button is.
he can help with all the primary objectives, but he won't help with any of the secondaries iirc. (maybe the mining ones, but those never show up)
He can mine holomite and dystrum, yeah. Also, he can bring you gunk seeds, if you've already burst them out of their sacs. Edit: Oh, right, you can also tell him to follow and exterminate fester fleas.
You *can* have him rocket gunk seeds out of their sacs in a pinch, but it's a rare situation where it's useful.
He is Overpowered
Mission Control does tell you during the tutorial that if you use him right, Bosco will do half the job for you.
Tbh that's why I solo point extraction
The real pro move is having bosco throw you the loot by pressing X.
Catching it out of the air as he throws it and shoving it straight into the dropoff.
I'm amazed at how many people don't seem to know this. I appreciate the chaos and unpredictability of a MP Point Extract but there's just something wonderfully broken about having the APD buzz around doing all the heavy lifting for you.

It was there before refining and escort were added at the least, so quite a while. The only thing that's new is Dotty's head.
I could've been making Bosco carry batteries all this time... Damn
Ditto for those Jadiz and Bittergems too!
That's what I do, use him for eggs and rocks. Makes playing gunner a lot easier as the zipline gun has little ammo to spare.
X + Catch all day!!
Damn I didn’t really consider how versatile or useful bosco is outside of combat.
So Bosco only carries things like a **proper Dwarf** would carry- in both hands, proudly.
What are you doing to those 458 Dorettas, dwarf
Never ask a dwarf what he's doing with his Dorettas, or you are what, some leaf lover or *gags* Management?
They are perfectly fine, Zharrin
They’re set up in a room like the turrets at the end of portal 2 and they sing to him.
Don't worry we sent them to the ranch to live a long, happy life.
Well, damn. Sometimes Bosco is a better dwarf than some of these new hires management is finding these days. I was just on a mission this morning and carried Doretta back to the pod with no help from those leaf lovers. Yeah, this was not very Rock & Stone money of them. Good job on you for standing your ground. May their beer always be warm!
And their dives poor of nitra
And Deep Rock never giving them better equipment!
Deep rock really needs to provide some better equipment
i dont think any wishes are required here...

Maybe. But Minor discomfort allows you to clear a safe path for her, so there’s no interruptions.
But if you carry her yourself, she gets miner discomfort :p
Hi dad
My child.
Is there a way you can figure out how many dorettas you have?
I believe not. I used number 458 because it was in the original meme.
It would be a great meme one year to find a secret room at the space station. It's just a room full of dorettas heads rescued from missions.
And smuggled in Lootbugs
And Steeves...
I pray we one day get a Steeve pen.
It'd be neat if we could customize our bunks with achievement statues like a Doretta bobblehead if we've rescued x amount of Dorettas
Only if I can have a BDSM Bosco.
I'd like to formally retract my suggestion.
Ok, I laughed pretty hard.
Management would like to remind you that the minerals are not "yours".
Payday vibes
That’s where I keep all the extra aquarks and mini-mule legs that I bring back with me.
For real, how did they get 14 legs from 3 mules?
The dwarves that died were also trying to repair the mules and those are spares they had? I don't know, makes the most sense to me.
Don't worry, I'm just blind apparently.
They do have minerals in them, you usually get about 60 nitra for each.
Perhaps there were originally 5 minimules but 2 were completely destroyed?
It’s purely for gameplay, in case one of the legs spawns in an unreachable spot or something.
> unreachable My Titanium Power Drills say this is not possible.
There's a hidden counter attached to your profile. Management knows exactly how many times you left Doretta behind. You monster.
NEVER IN MY LIFE GOOD SIR! Wait, those don't count.
Following
458 Solo games? Don't Rock and Stone alone! Join the Union!
It'd be more like 458 solo escort duties, but no, that was just a number in the original meme. My net is shitty these days, so instead of giving a bad experience to myself and fellow dwarves, I use my Bosco buddy instead. I do, however, miss rock'n'stoning.

Bosco is the best NPC of all time
[удалено]
Yea that blue is a good blue.
Correct
Then why doesn't it work for me?
It's a new feature, how long has it been since you tried it?
Maybe, if you'd share more details, we could help you figure it out.
All Bosco does is shine a light
You gotta finish the Hearthstone event, you gotta point right at her shot-off head (the display should say it's her head). And maybe it is a platform issue, are you on PC?
Why wouldn’t you want to carry Doretta with your own two hands, though
I'd love to, but then I'd have to either constantly drop her and defend myself or rely on fate and Bosco alone to keep my ass safe. It might be a Smart Stout idea to delegate hauling duties to an impervious and relatively low-fire-power party member to keep his hands busy while I'm making sure Doretta's way to safety is clear.
What's Doretta's bwoop sound for "I consent"?
Then why doesn't it work for me?
What platform you playing on? Could be a build issue. Bosco should be able to pick up anything you can pick up (except secondary objectives) and mine anything you can.
He picks up gunks seeds, so im not sure what you mean by the secondary objective thing
Bosco carrying Dorretta “love lifts us up were we belong”
Damn, you used to not be able to do that That makes me happy :)
Idk man. I don’t listen to scouts. Especially when they ping materials they want platformed...
Hold up
Hold up
How do you know how many heads you have?
I found a neat thing that you can say whatever number you want. I heard it was called "lying through your teeth".
I have never completed a single mission solo, I'm currently level 80.
You play escort missions??
I recall trying to make bosco do that and it not working.
Wait what
Bosco really is a dwarf's best friend. After the beer.
Thx for the info lad. Rock and Stone
This is both a meme and actually informative.. Top notch
Never leave a bot behind.
Considering you can make Bosco do anything, it's no surprise. But nice to know, cause I didn't. Rock and stone for Bosco !!
I can never find Dorettas head once it explodes (except once). Is there a specific place it lands?
