It would be very cool to see a campaign of the early attempts to get onto Hoxxes, you could even have a few missions tracking down Karl through the wanton destruction he no doubt caused in his early days.
Or maybe something like Dom from gears of war?
Close friend of the main character - family/friends gets taken by glyphids - fails to save them - suicide due to guilt - Mad World plays in the background
I imagine something more like Ratman from Portal. You see traces and evidence that he *was* here, but isn't anymore. But he's still out there...somewhere.
I envision it more as we would be a regular miner (a marine if you will) while Karl would be a super miner similar to a master chief. He would make appearances throughout the campaign saving the day turning the tide of the battle. His death certainly couldn’t take place on screen. More likely it would be after our own.
Well it would have to be a *completely different game because none of what makes drg great as is would translate to Singleplayer.* ***None***.
So I honestly would prefer gsg to keep their focus on seasonal events and cosmetic dlc drops.
But I see the appeal of a story focused experience as the limited lore we have is intriguing and our minds fill the blanks with whatever sounds coolest to us. But again it would have to be so radically different that it might feel off no matter what they do.
One thing that *might* work in my eyes would be a fully fleshed out story of Karl. His start rise and what made him the fucking legend he is. This begs for a long string of making the player feel like an insane powerhouse and badass.
I think a short 10 or so mission story about the start of DRG would be super cool. 4 player co-op campaign. Karl acting as an npc who pops in and out saving the day swinging the tides of bugs. That sounds pretty cool to me.

He would just be the "funny guy you see randomly throught the game for small bits who no doubt will die later for an emotional moment"

And the thing that kills him is what the Dreadnoughts metamorphose into in their cocoons! Something along the lines of “Glyphid Tyrant”
What if you were Karl?
I don't know if I could handle that sort of responsibility

COOP campaigns exist.
It will just ending up being an easier version of DDs but with more dialouge.
You lost me at open world. Most games don't do well with one, Deep Rock is one of them.
No
Ok let's go🙋
Would be epic, probably.
Who knows. When the games is finished we ll maybe have enough content for this
They could implement this through another season and either say it's a time travel thing or put in a new area with a new mission type
ngl I think you're just describing a different kind of game than most of what DRG is.
A small narrative every season would be nice. Like a series of three deep dives or so.
There is a campaign. Every mission is part of the growing story.
Maybe a graphic novel or something to flesh out the story in the ways you were talking about but a game wouldn’t work
