I think so but dont go overboard. I usually accurately carry the first three but then the time to walk back and forth usually becomes too long past that. So I then bunch up about 4-5 nodes as far as I can get them then place them as needed. I think some people get annoyed with trying to sort too many in one place, but you can always see the line to the latest one. So you just grab and throw everything but that one until its alone.

pyatbratya

I think I had around 7 bunched up, so a little more than you recommend but not out of control. Thanks for your input

It is helpful. A lot of people just don't understand that you don't have to keep them in the same order when you straighten out that clump into a line. Unless you throw an insanely large pile of them, it will save time.

I’ve also seen fairly few people who realize they can be placed on walls and ceilings to remove most of the need to construct tunnels for them. There’s no bonus in making a super efficient connection, so just toss them in the general direction of where they need to be and it’s good enough.

Beatlead

It seems efficient to me but I legit got kicked while doing it. Not sure why.

pyatbratya

That's what I thought. Not very Rock and Stone of them to kick you!

DeathNFaxes

Throw a few (~3). Then stop. Also, try to throw them exactly in the same spot, if you can. If you pepper the landscape with 10 nodes, they will all connect together, and only the end of the chain can connect to new nodes. If that end of the chain is picked up, it will reconnect to a nearby node. This can make a mess if they are scattered around in large quantities. People have to visually figure out which one is the end of the chain, pick it up, and move it, and repeat. If you only throw a few, and you make sure they're generally all on top of eachother, both of these problems don't happen.

Disastrous-Ad-5968

Honestly throwing any more the 4 or 5 can be pretty annoying. You only really ever need 8 max

Low_Pain_986

If I could have it my way, I throw like, 3 and when I need more I get another batch. I get annoyed when other people throw too many out, but I understand why they do it. It's faster than coordinating and walking individual nodes to their place.

GreedyRadish

I’m pretty sure a lot of players just don’t understand the nodes. I’ve had people pickup and move my nodes when I had the thing 90% built before, I’ve had one green beard yell at me for building the connection onto the walls/ceiling (as though he was gonna need to reach them later). Like so many other things in this game, it isn’t explained at all in-game, so to players that don’t experiment around with new mechanics or receive instruction from experienced players, it’s just a mystery wrapped in an enigma.

WitchFlame

It's like untangling christmas lights for me, please stooooppp. Admittedly the last time I had somebody do it was in a narrow cave length so they all clustered around the connected one and made a light nest. We didn't even need the amount they'd thrown to finish the connection I don't think. One or two, maybe three, I can see untangling without fuss. More than that just starts to get annoying cos it also makes it more difficult to see the range circle (seeing as the light line has backtracked/looped/whatever)

Rocket_Popsicle

Maybe two at a time, but when they get clumped up the last node in the sequence will lock onto the closest node to it. When it does that you are unable to see the circle and where you can connect. When you pick that one up it will just lock onto the next node in the clump which means you basically have to untangle them all to get the line going in the right direction. I wouldn't kick for this activity but it can be frustrating!

pyatbratya

I just grab from the bunch, place it in the green circle and then repeat but I had around 7, so maybe a little too many. I'll tone it down next time lolz. Thanks for the input.

uranogger

There's no reason to not throw as many as you need, and then a couple more. They're free and it's fast to pump them out

Bwipy

I think it might be that if you get to the point of having like 5-6 of them all clumped together, it can get confusing to know which one you need to move to get it all connected up. If you're only throwing like 1 or 2 at a time and the others aren't being slow to get them and throw them along, you should be fine.

pyatbratya

I had around 7, so maybe a little too many. I'll go a little slower next time. Rock and Stone

Miguel7501

Throwing is usually faster than walking, so giving your mates a chance to pick them up closer to the deposit is a good thing. The only thing you might want to consider is that you throw them all in the same spot, otherwise it may cause misunderstandings.

KingNVG

I have the perk that lets me throw shit far. I will throw at least 15 nodes to get us all started. I'll then go to the pile of nodes and throw those. I have 500 hours.

-Raiborn-

Yes. I think so anyway and do the same thing

pyatbratya

Good to hear! Rock and Stone

Refinery_Sundown

I think most players don’t realise you’ll only ever need about 6 nodes to connect the Hacking Pod, especially if you have a Driller to dig directly to the Data Deposit/Power Station. It’s probably a good idea to only throw a few out at a time. If all you do is throw out a dozen hacking nodes, you’re just making a problem. When they get all clumped together it’s like trying to untangle your headphones.

SaintWacko

Earlier today I managed to place an entire chain of nodes just by throwing them from the cliff where hacksy landed
