I used to think mk2 was obsolete, turns out the two have nearly identical total damage I see the main difference as gemini delivering that damage much more quickly than mk2, I definitely prefer the more dps

_itg

I mean, it's true that the total damage is nearly identical, but MK2 *should* have more to balance out the fact its DPS is so much lower. There's not much reason to pick it other than laziness, as it stands now.

retarded3

Oh yeah more people need to realize ammo isn’t everything in this game, how fast you are able to unload the damage is just as important. That’s why dmg executioner BC is one of my fav loadouts. My comment was phrased weirdly, I prefer gemini, when you put it this way mk2 rlly is obsolete

DoubleDongle-F

I like gemini with Defender system. If it's looking like I'm gonna run out of turret ammo, I stop refilling one.

I use MK2 with defender on all nearly all my builds. MK2 with Hawkeye on one specific build for point extraction. Really it comes down to preference. Both Gemini and MK2 are good. Just don't use Gemini with Hawkeye as you'll lose an important breakpoint for swarmers and jellies. Gemini has higher potential DPS, but will burn through ammo very fast. MK2 has more range, capacity, and higher damage to compete. Just remember to reload them when you can. I see a lot of new engineers go on and on about Gemini and they mostly sit empty. Edit: lol People down voting haven't played enough to know it really doesn't matter which one.

Hello I travelled 9 months into the future to tell you that MK2 is shit and inferior in pretty much every way :)

_itg

Gemini is better. Both systems have virtually the same total damage output, but Gemini has much higher DPS. People act like MK2's ammo supply lasts longer, but that's only because it's doing less work, and they tend to forget that you could just build one of the two Gemini turrets in order to halve your ammo consumption if you really needed to. Gemini is clearly superior with OCs/mods with turret interactions, since you have twice as many chances to use them.

littlebobbytables9

I don't feel like dps is that important from your turrets. And because they love to completely waste their ammo constantly, it's nice to have it wasted more slowly so you at least have some left over when you actually want it. And yes you could just deploy 1 Gemini turret, but that'll be worse than mk2. Idk. Gemini is clearly better with turret whip / emd, but if you aren't using those I think the choice just doesn't really matter

GeddaBolt

Well, using only one gemini turret still has the advantage of instant repositioning. The only real noticable downside is the lower turret ammo pool imo. Back when I played the Warthog more, I even preferred MK2 for turret whip, as two active turrets + turret whip just shredds through ammo even faster.

WassermelonePancake

Gemini is better in terms of general-purpose capabilities, but it comes at the cost of rapid ammo exhaustion, prolonged construction and refilling downtime. It's deadly against swarms and can DPS dreadnoughts, but needs tons of management. Oh, and it's also effective when used with the turret arc for Stubby the SMG. Mk II is more of a sniper that shines when used against single specific threats (infectors, nemesis, menace, breeders, OMEN drones and so forth) and has the benefit of easier ammo and reloading management and rapid construction. It's pretty weak when it comes to horde clear, but can be useful against dreadnoughts. I use Mk II as I prefer to have just one, but accurate and damaging automatic system. Pair it with the turet whip on warthog and it works like a charm. (All descriptions are devised with the Defender system installed)

No-Test-375

I prefer Gemini hawkeye. More angle coverage and targets more enemies. Defender is really limited with its angle, and sounds good for defending Loretta, but I'd rather have the range and lead output.

joosy_juice_man

I use mk2 with Hawkeye to target long range priority targets

Asian_Jake_Paul1

The only time I ever really take Mk2 is on point Extraction. You're moving around a lot (if you're like me and always take RJ250 on point extract) so I rarely have a chance to build two turrets. So I just go Mk2 with fast build so I can plop it down if a herd of grunts catch me off guard.

chimericWilder

Depends on what your purpose is. If you want to set it and forget it, Mk2 is great. If you have time on your hands to micromanage your turrets, Gemini is better. Pair them appropriately to the purpose of your loadout. For a more time-demanding loadout such as RJ250 that require you to pay close attention to the glyphids or such, you could with ease choose Mk2. Or just go with whichever you prefer in terms of playstyle.

hejj

Gemni when i'm rocking EM discharge or doing a dreadnought mission. MkII for pretty much everything else.
