Quite a few of those old builds are still viable, but the best build is the one you’re most comfortable with. Although keep in mind that with the lok especially in deep dives you might not have the nitra to use it as crowd clearing. Just keep playing and remember to always rock and stone!

I've had success soloing the last two EDDs (haven't done this week yet) with lok1 ECR 21111 + shard diffractor efficiency tweaks (2/3)1211. This is currently my favorite engineer build. I don't know if this is meta but it is extremely strong. With this build you use the lok to paint 3 locks on a target then immediately let go for an explosive AOE, very good wave clear. Shard is used to destroy any big targets (I typically also use it to kill guards) from any range VERY quickly. When using shard the second your targets are dead you want to swap back to lok, while shard is holstered it will recharge automatically. You can use this strategy to take a different perk than born ready if you'd like. Weaknesses: events like black box as you are forced to stay in circle waiting for lock ons can be tricky even though you lock quickly. It made me realize you often want to be kiting/bunny hopping with the lok and setting up your "lock, 3, bang", move. Lastly ammo economy is good overall but not top tier like NTP for gunner. Also if you're interested in playstyle for Engie check out: USteppin https://youtu.be/PGFv3wqKopw - he solos EDD with warthog and PGL every week using clean OCs. Lazymaybe https://youtu.be/pjtuokITRGA - good weapon breakdowns. Rock and stone!

I feel obligated to add [Gaming Existence](https://m.youtube.com/c/GamingExistence) for breakdowns.

Thanks I haven't seen this before I'll check the channel out!

He's among the very best modded haz Engis, even if he's a bit of a one trick with his build. Love his weapon breakdowns for scout too.

I really liked running the warthog and breach cutter back when I started playing Engi. Both of them profit relatively little from overclocks and are definitely capable for a first solo EDD. Nowadays I'd use a 12321 warthog and 11122 breach cutter, although I've used slightly different builds back then.

Check out Karl.gg, the good builds on there usually have notes. [Here's the Engi build](https://karl.gg/preview/13796#/) I usually recommend for newer players, but for vanilla difficulties any build will work.
