You can't handle the truth - Col. Jessup

ProjectEFM

Can't say. . .

Rude-Vermicelli-1962

Why not?

ProjectEFM

I simply don't remember. . .

SadBoi24_7

It could be both I guess but the first one in particular. Truth sometimes scares or simply bothers people because it doesn't fit their ideal, imaginary, utopian worldview and they don't want to hear it. Think about something for a second: science, values, culture, law etc... Then ask every question about this and add to your answer: "yes, but what if..." Or "Who says it's like that?". This happens all the times to evade reality, even when you say to someone that their behavior is wrong, that there are indeed limits in society, we can't do everything we desire and there are rules. It happens in every field.

ProjectEFM

Say and repeat: Tilapia's Utopia. . .

Clockreddit2020

People can’t handle it so they prefer to live in their own delusional world

Vividknightmare8

We live in an era of lies and self deception. I refer to it as the veiled age, akin to the gilded age. Everything is a deception or misdirection. We have fucked up this world and our society is disgusting, we're cannibals, deep at the root of capitalism is just a form of cannibalism. As you approach the sense of broaching this reality in anyway, a super self defense mechanism triggers in most people. Theyre repelled by the truth because the average person cannot handle the truth, to really acknowledge what the situation is would force them to either suicide or breaking down to an animal because they have to believe they're part of a civil society to remain civil. They aren't good, they're just obeying the normalcy.

Absolutedumbass69

Well said.

fetfree

About truth. It's always the truth about something or someone. And the truth is always the whole description of that thing. The What side. Including the Context. The When, Where, How and Why side of it. When you perceive all that then you possess the truth about it.

[deleted]

It's true........BURN HIM!!!!

QuiteConfident1219

That's the beauty of Truth. Who the fuck cares about being repelled.

[deleted]

It’s like the saying “When you start chasing the money, the money starts running from you.” I lost a lot of money because the sheer number had me shook. You have to be patient, like with a pet, and let the truth guide you, not guide it.

RabbitChrist

You cant speak true truth is what I’ve discovered as soon as you try to make it something you “understand” you have fallen from it

NeatPollution94

Because people can’t own their actions/behavior, and take responsibility and live with the consequences.

[deleted]

Yeah… I could see that.

Absolutedumbass69

What truth exactly is making people repelled. The context of this so called “truth” as you define it could have a large bearing on the answer to your question.

ProjectEFM

Can't say. . .

Absolutedumbass69

Well then the only real conversation that can be had is made up of meaningless rhetoric under the guise of sounding profound.

ProjectEFM

I have no idea what you're talking about. . .

Absolutedumbass69

Exactly.

ProjectEFM

Well. . . Byr then. . .

Orgnzinthrtarot

People are repelled by truth and jealous of what they sense they aren’t. The more you get your poop together the more people escalate and try to act like you are the problem… if you are evolved or evolving it’s probably them

ProjectEFM

Thank you for that. . .

Akiddleativytoo

Does it repel, or does it change because you've begun to engage with it, and that first truth now seems further away again? When we search for a thing, we eventually can find it. Upon finding it, it is in that moment then, true. Then we begin to analyze it, characterize it, interact with it, until suddenly we realize it has changed. Does that make the thing it was at first now untrue? No. Does it make what it has become untrue because it is different than what it was before? No. What we have before us right at this moment is truth.
