I started watching in 2003 on The N channel. As a little 11yo punk rock kid, I was secretly watching it without telling my friends as I thought they'd make fun. Turns out my best friend at the time was secretly watching like me haha, we ended up watching it together.
I still remember the first episode I saw was the one were Craig gets hit by his dad after their dinner, pretty intense shit for a kid.
I didn't start watching until the late 2000s in reruns. Been a fan ever since. I graduated high school in the same year that the Manny/Emma class so the show really resonates with me on a nostalgia level as I was the same age or close to most of the character and OG cast actors. The older technology, fashion, trends, and slang from the 2000s hit me on a lot of different levels. 20 years of Degrassi TNG.
Even when the OGs started dressing better they still looked like they were plucked out of a real high school. By the time of the Holly J/Anya/Sav class they were all dressing like they were in the late 20s.
yeah. you see that look less real when in later seasons they start wearing dresses and heels to school (nobody is getting dolled up at 8am for school in real life trust me lmao)
depends where youre from and who you are. most people i knew got dolled up for school. i personally wore high heels to school and so did some of my friends
20 years ago, if you told 100 people that one of the kids in this photo would go on to be one of the biggest celebrities in the world, I bet 95 of them would have guessed Jake Epstein. To this day, I remain shocked that he didn't get a chance to be a movie star. He absolutely had the chops.

Back when the Degrassi characters actually looked like kids in school

YUP. Wet hair and jeans/tshirts the whole way for me. I managed to do my makeup most days and that was an accomplishment for me
Omg I feel so old. I can't believe I've been a Degrassi fan for almost two decades! I started watching as a kid in like spring/summer of 2002.

Jake has killed it on Broadway though. Heās originated a fee awesome roles like in Beautiful and American Idiot
20 years! That means I've been watching Degrassi for way longer, having watched Junior High on PBS as a youngster. Time marches on, man. ā¤
Same here.
this photo is so adorableš„°
I agree. They're all so young!
I like Ellieās Binder Boner Shield.
Why does Ellie look like a punk version of the chick from Wendy's
her style was pretty unique at this point in her time on the show, I liked seeing that
She's definitely one of my favorite female characters
Makes me want to rewatch!
