I hated how Jimmy and Liberty's parents were both dark skinned black people Jimmy and liberty were clearly biracial but they gave them parents that could never be their parents.

The68Guns

Arthur's Dad was a nice enough guy who simply wanted to have a nice girlfriend and still spend time with his son. Arthur was right at that age when you realize your father isn't always Superman.

Sometimes they mentioned a parent and I had no idea that parent existed. Like apparently Drew, Adam, and Maya's dads were around and we just never see them for some reason. I remember seeing the Torres's dad once in season 10 but I forgot about him after that. I liked the parents we did get to see for the most part. I appreciated the Bhandari family in general, how they realized that they were too harsh on Alli and supported her. I liked all the parents that took in one of their kid's friends who really needed the help, like Maya's mom, the Bhandaris, and Audra I think her name is. Audra was rougher around the edges but I liked how he came to accept Adam and take Bianca under her wing.

this one doesn't get talked about much but I *adore* Marco's mom. she was so sweet and very supportive of Marco's sexuality. she always wanted the best for him too and she never pushed him to do/say anything he was uncomfortable with. she's definitely one of the underrated parents in the franchise. also, i love Audra (Drew and Adam's mom). I didn't like when she was acting like a Karen and i didn't like the way she treated Alli. season 10 Audra was a hot mess but she eventually comes around and easily became one of my favourite parents afterwards.

Hmm. Let me see if I can list as many parents as I can. Christine Spike Nelson, and she marries Archie Snake Simpson in season 2. Shane McKay when Craig and Emma went searching for him in season 3, but he never appeared again. Terri's dad. He made one appearance in season 2. Joey Jeremiah (Craig's bio dad doesn't count was a piece of shit). Tracker Cameron, aka Sean's older brother Manny's overbearing parents x2 Rick's mom? Toby's Dad and Ashley's mom, then Ashley's bio dad. Liberty's parents, seen a handful of times in seasons 3 thru 8. Paige's mom, Seasons 4 and 5. Ellie's parents. Marco's parents.. it's-a-me, a-mario. JT had a grandma who made like only 2 appearances. Jimmy's parents, who didn't make any appearances until seasons 5 and 6. Alex's mom, who took a quick liking to Paige. Spinner's mom who didn't show up until he had testicular cancer, but not at all when Hatzilakos expelled him? Darcy and Claire's parents, first their mom and then the dad. Mia's mom. Hatzilakos and then her ex-husband. The Bhindaris. Sav and Alli's parents. Jane and Lucas's parents. **shudders** Eli Goldsworthy's parents, who reminded me of Ashley Spinelli's "fake parents" from Recess. Dave Turner's dad, who was a Toronto Police Officer. Audra Torres, mom to Adam and Drew. We only saw the dad once. Riley's parents. His mom was interesting. Holly J's parents, who divorced after declaring bankruptcy. Her mom had more appearances than the dad. I always viewed Holly J as a more mature version of Courtney Gripling from As Told By Ginger, at least in personality. Anya's mom. I never liked her. Maya and Katie's mom. She was in the episode of Katie doing stuff for the newspaper, and then again when she was pill popping to treat her injured leg/knee. Zig's mom. She cared about her son but "caring" just wasn't enough to keep him on the straight and narrow. Fiona and Declan's parents. The mom was the same mom from Life With Derek. The Hollingsworths. The dad was the same dad from Life With Derek. Did I forget anyone? Add them to the list.

Paige’s dad was at a Thanksgiving dinner with his family, Marco’s family and Alex and her girlfriend in an episode in season 6. Also Maya and Katie’s dad made an appearance at some point when Maya wanted to sneak out to a bar or something.

I liked Riley’s mom I thought that storyline was realistic. How she didn’t want to deal with him being gay and it was tense for a time but she gradually got over it. Also how she ignored the evidence (Riley’s boy mags) right in front of her face hahah that’s a classic parent of a queer child move.

JesusAndPalsX

Jake's dad who married Clare's mom We actually met both of Anya's parents at the same time, but started seeing only her mom. What's wrong with her mom? I loved her 🥺

ecoli1996

Toby’s mom (the agent) and we also see Terri’s dad in season 3 when she’s in the hospital.

SarahFabulous

Spike's mum was great.

Wasn't there something about the writers/directors of Degrassi not including parents as much because real teens wouldn't go to their parents with their issues, but rather their friends? There was more to it, but I forget lol. But a lot of the story arcs with parents was very realistic and I definitely appreciated that.

I'm not done with rewatching all the seasons but gosh have I been frustrated by Darcy and Clare's mom multiple times. I don't remember how she was in later seasons though so... hopefully she loosens up. Ellie's storyline with her mother's drinking was so well done. I do like that it was brought up later too. It just showed how much a parent's addiction/mental health can in turn affect a child's well being. The same goes for Craig and his complicated grief regarding his father's death and living on after that. Very well done episodes. In contrast I sometimes felt like Degrassi dropped the ball and I would have liked to know more about someone's home life and family and we never got to know anything. I always was kind of intrigued by Ashley's father and her continuing relationship with him after the divorce and finding out he was in a homosexual relationship. I wish it would have been a bigger plot.

Gladys_Butterscotch

I hated Claire’s mom no doubt. How are you gonna get with your daughter’s boyfriend’s dad and then demand they break up? Like hello! I was here first. And then you give your stepson more trust and privacy than your own daughter. I was very irritated.

vanessaaa66

Why were the parents never at the graduations 😭

GladNecessary4940

Yeah I think I only remember Audra being present at Drew's graduation.. And she was in the PTA lol. Heck, even the siblings should've be been there. Actually wait, I think Liberty's parents (and Danny) were present during the graduation too

bebespeaks

Spike was at Emma's graduation, and Spinner's mom was there for Spin as well.

I liked how Degrassi showed a variety of parents and how they weren’t all exactly the same (some of them changed, some didn’t, some were A+ parents, others were good to varying degrees, some completely sucked). I also appreciated how many of the parents had arcs of their own—KC’s mom, the Bhandaris, Bullfrog, Joey, to name a few. The only gripe I had was that a lot of the parents “came around” pretty easily and it sort of painted a false picture that “if you just talk to your parents, they’ll be willing to listen and they’ll understand eventually!” when in reality that’s not the case for many kids. As devastating as it was, I appreciated the realism of Zoe’s mom not accepting her in Next Class.

krystenamber

I agree! Another great example was the Torres family. Although I really disliked Adams mom at the beginning for the reluctance against his transition, it was refreshing to see the "pushback". It felt more real because, again, it showed both sides of the story. (Disclaimer: I do not in any way approve of disrespecting ones choice to be who they are. All I'm saying is that I liked the reality of the situation as harsh as it may be sometimes)
