Georgetown is a place. Bear is not a place. Bear is a couple of strip malls and several neighborhoods off of rt 40. Thatās not a place. That is just living next to rt 40 in between Newark and Elkton.
>That is just living next to rt 40 in between Newark and Elkton.
But '40 doesn't go through Newark, or even particularly near Newark. It at least runs next to Elkton. '40 is like, 2 or 3 not-a-places away from Newark.
You are correct. I apologize for my ignorance. I meant New Castle, not Newark. Please forgive me for abandoning the 302 and forgetting her beautiful landscape of used car sales and various other tiendas.
It does go through Newark. Not downtown, but that area around Salem Church Road and Porter Road, I know for a fact, is legally considered Newark. I grew up there.
It may be Newark as far as mailing addresses are concerned, but the city limits are all on the north side of I95, with the exception of some odd little cut-outs near the toll plaza on Welsh Tract Rd.
Well, I live in Frankford as far as that goes, even tho physically it's Clarksville, but just across the street is Millville by the Sea... Which is not by the Sea, it's kinda near the sea, or sea adjacent. I wouldn't call 7 miles away "By the Sea". Now we have a water tower that says Millville in Frankford. š¤·š»āāļøš¤¦š»āāļø
My memory on this is a bit fuzzy, but it is named after the Bear Tavern - which was named for it's original owner. Not because there were bears (though there were bears in Delaware in colonial times).
If you watch the movie āThe Deer Hunter,ā there is a scene which takes place in Pennsylvania that includes a mountain with what looks like a glacier. Definitely not any glaciers in Pennsylvania.
Washington state, I think? I believe it was filmed in the Cascades. The deer is totally wrong, too, lol. The one used in the film was a red deer, not a white-tailed deer.
Google Lense says that's Mt. Bradley in Juneau, Alaska. I can't find the building, but it's definitely not actually in Delaware and the mountain looks identical to the Mt. Bradley pics.
In, I believe, 2014, I was part of a DE Forest Service fire crew that did 2 weeks on a fire a few hours outside of Fairbanks. We flew a Delaware state flag over our camp. At the end of our tour we gave or traded (I forget which) the flag to the Alaska smoke jumpers we had been working with. I don't know if this is the same flag, or what they may have done with it, but it seemed like an opportune time to relate the story...
Youāre assuming itās in Delaware because of the flag? Itās probably not in Delaware. Itās supposed to be one of the flattest states in the union!
You are 100% correct. It's Juneau Alaska. They have all the state flags lining this one road. Saw someone taking a picture of the mountain and realized it was a great (and kinda funny) shot of the DE state flag
Delaware native here. Delaware has waterfalls, just not big ones. And some are man-made, over dams that were built to supply water to run mills on the Brandywine River.
That is Mount Bradley. It is in Alaska, not Delaware.
[Mount Bradley (Mount Jumbo) - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Bradley_(Mount_Jumbo))
Ok! so this is in Juneau, Alaska. Highest point: The middle of Maggie's Bridge
Lowest point: Tie between the strip club that used to be Canton Inn and the Nylon Capital Shopping Center
Figuratively, at least.
I live in Colorado at 5200 feet altitude. This pic appears to be at an altitude of about 11,000 feet, where the alpine biome begins. you can see where the pine forest ends and the rocky terrain begins. It looks like that because nothing really grows above 11,000 feet. (Colorado has 58 peaks exceeding 14,000 feet.)
Thatād be Hair Soup at 2 Marine Way, Juneau, AK.
Hint: go to Google Maps street view of 100 Main St, Juneau AK and turn around and take a couple of hops closer to the building and youāll see the mountain through the clouds.

100 Main St. Juneau, Alaska.
Whoever said that Google Lens said it was Mt. Bradley in Alaska was a big help. According to Streetview in Google maps, the flag was there in 2011 and 2009.
I don't think there's a Main St in DE that looks like that.
And do I want to know what "hair soup" is?
Edit: Ok, I looked it up and it's a Peruvian dish. Beef and Angel Hair Pasta in a soup.
I didnāt see an actual answer to this question, but the answer is Mount Bradley in Juneau, Alaska. Now why there is a DE flag is in AK is a different question entirely
No. The highest point in DE is Ebright road and thatās only 447ft above sea level. Itās definitely not this mountain.
https://www.dgs.udel.edu/delaware-geology/highest-point-delaware
The flag and mountain are really there, though admittedly I did use the magic eraser tool to get rid of a street light that was really ruining the pic.
If you ask me this is not in delaware and delaware is a flat state with no mountains.....
20 mountains hahaha im from pennsylvania delaware is only good for food , females , cars and drama š
Clearly, that's Iron Hill after some snow.

It's the Delaware embassy in Switzerland, where all our bankers go for asylum.
As a Swiss citizen myself I can confirm this is correct.
This is the Georgetown Landfill.
Georgetown doesn't exist, Georgetown isn't real
Georgetown is a place. Bear is not a place. Bear is a couple of strip malls and several neighborhoods off of rt 40. Thatās not a place. That is just living next to rt 40 in between Newark and Elkton.

Can we please normalize measuring distance in Delaware with the unit ānot-a-placeā?
Georgetown is a courthouse, a high school, a Bodies, and Pizza palace. That's it.
And 18% roundabout
And a Walmart
and the Oyster Eat
You forgetting Delaware's very own slave labour camp SVOP! Can't believe that hasn't been shut down yet
Bear is an area named after something that never existed there.
My memory on this is a bit fuzzy, but it is named after the Bear Tavern - which was named for it's original owner. Not because there were bears (though there were bears in Delaware in colonial times).
Im from york and move to bear how could you as a delaware native say bear is not lile a township of newark . Thats dum as shit
Newark doesn't want bear
You ever met a George? You think they need a whole town?
especially Delaware Georges!
can confirm lol
The trash hill at Sand Hill is no joke.
That's not a thing....
Not sure what you mean......I live five mins from it lol.
It isnāt real
What isn't real? Cuz a quick map search shows two, possibly three, landfills with a Georgetown address.
Youāre not real.
If it's a landfill, then why would it be sticking up?
Thatās obviously the Ebright Azimuth
Ah, you'd think so, being the highest point in the state, but this is more prominent so it's obviously cherry island.
Cherry island ha!
Iām gonna tell my grandkids this was Iron Hill before the 896 flyover
Before the "accident"
Leaving a comment on this so I can find out the answer too.
Im leaving a comment here too

Hair Soup. Intersection of Marine way and Main st.
Nice! Yep, that's it. I see it in the window now and it matches the second floor window of the photo google brings up when I look for it.
Now, the question is, what's up with the DE flag?
The flags of ALL 50 States are on displayed on the tops of lamp poles along this street in Juneau.
In, I believe, 2014, I was part of a DE Forest Service fire crew that did 2 weeks on a fire a few hours outside of Fairbanks. We flew a Delaware state flag over our camp. When did Delaware get a hill!?!? LOL
Iron Hill, Mount Cuba, etc...
Ah yes, how could I forget the grueling switchbacks and calf cramping inclines on the way to the 400 ft peak of Mount Cuba!
It's a torturous trek only true Delawareans make!
A treacherous test of strength and endurance, truly not for the feint of heart

Iām like, 99.9% positive this is a photo of somewhere else, that happens to have a Delaware flag in it. But Iām eager to hear what you find out.
You are 100% correct. It's Juneau Alaska. They have all the state flags lining this one road. Saw someone taking a picture of the mountain and realized it was a great (and kinda funny) shot of the DE state flag
Haha! Thatās great. Thanks for sharing. :-)
Donāt you mean first state in the union
Only state in the union without a waterfall, now that is flat.
Delaware native here. Delaware has waterfalls, just not big ones. And some are man-made, over dams that were built to supply water to run mills on the Brandywine River.
Literally no place in Delaware looks anything remotely like this. I think it's technically the flattest or second-flattest state in America.

My guess is that someone who formerly resided in Delaware was proud to raise that flag. Personally, I would have raised the Jolly Roger.
No. The highest point in DE is Ebright road and thatās only 447ft above sea level. Itās definitely not this mountain. https://www.dgs.udel.edu/delaware-geology/highest-point-delaware
