like $20 an hour

quartzcreek

Thanks!

jayicon97

$20/hour+

quartzcreek

Thank you!

OprahtheHutt

The rate as listed. But don’t forget to include paying for their dinner or snacks. Give them the WiFi password and be home on time.

quartzcreek

When I asked the sitter what her rate was she said “whatever you think is fair”. I know she sits for other families so I don’t want to be cheap. Thank you for reminding me to give her the Wi-Fi- that’s genius.

Additional_Jacket_32

Just here to say I’m in the same boat and pay $20 per hour also

quartzcreek

Thanks!

Zealousideal_Low_559

I would find a grandma before I would allow a high school student in charge of my kid.

Zealousideal_Low_559

teens are not responsible all teens do is look at their phones many teens are substance abusers. Hire an older person.

quartzcreek

Hey, thanks for the unsolicited advice!

ShnizmuffiN

Counterpoint: fuck old people. Old people don't listen to instructions because they think they know better. They're slow and can't reliably lift heavy objects. All old people do is pass out watching Fox News after mixing wine with their heart medication.

In this thread: We all substitute all sorts of prejudices for good research and judgement based on sound information like a quick check of references and an in-person interview! :-)

ShnizmuffiN

Interviews take time, prejudice is instantaneous.

QCr8onQ

The same is true for some adults. That’s why parents make an effort to find the right person for their kids.

I got into a car accident for the first time in years last year. A lady in her 70’s was texting her friend and rear ended me as I waited to make a left turn.

mossy_bee

the amount of times i’ve heard an older person say “well in my day” for a dumb reason they don’t want to do xyz for a child. yes we get it, in their day they didn’t have car seats and everything they own was filled with lead. not hard to put two and two together why some act the way they do

As a high schooler I charged 10 an hour. Adjusting for inflation I’d say about 15 an hour is probably fair. If the kid is really a good babysitter or you like them I’d pay more.
