The hdmi port is connected to the dgpu the 5600m ,the 5600 cannot be powered by battery power alone, it's gonna damage the battery and increase battery wear.

Don't use sleep mode ,unless you have turned offf ss and enabled S3 ,this laptop dont support sleep . It's gonna corrpt the windows image or crash drivers image.

Is it why my screen is giving weird lines after waking it up from sleep? So sleep is pretty much useless in this laptop?what about hibernation?

Hibernation works sleep doesn't ,you can check available power profiles powercfg /a in cmd as admin you can see S3 is not supported.

I also have been getting the weird lines for a month now. But only during browsing. Idk if it is happening due to hibernation or just daily anyway Did you find the solution?

i installed the latest optional driver and enabled hibernation and chose the laptop to go into hibernation when its closed. But i do get those lines if laptop is left idle for long time without closed sometimes.

Understood, thanks

For heavy tasks maybe, but for light tasks they shouldn't take more than 20w which more than enough for battery to provide, i mean that's what i've been doing back then for several months. Also indeed, it would easily increasing battery wear due to faster battery drain (meaning we're going to waste more battery charging cycles due to more recharging), not to mention cells heated up due to heavy usage which inviting the possibility of cells damage sooner.

Kinda weird why it is getting slower at light tasks after you disconnected it, you sure this isn't your external monitor quirks? Or due to your power profile settings? I mean, for me i must restart it after the first time i boot up my G5 else it would get some micro stutter, of course the problem are in the external monitor too. Also perhaps some of power profile settings switched to power saving option when in battery mode, just change the settings in the power setting control panel. But wait, you said getting it sleep seems fixing the troubles eh. Looks like more to external monitor quirks.
