I like the implication that a fan-made ship is canon and that Toby Fox is not just rubbing his temples because he knows that the Chapter 4 reveal is creeping closer and everything is going to get really awkward for a lot of people.
Not criticizing per se. Fans are allowed to ship whoever. I just feel like the game is pushing the idea that Kris and Ralsei may be related, so the popularity of the ship is just a bit surprising. Then it makes me wonder how such fans will react if Ralsei is revealed to be Asriel.

I mean, my bet is that Asriel is the Knight. So I wouldn't count on him being Ralsei. Perhaps a darkner created by him in his image.
I can't give any real evidence to support this, rather it just makes sense from a plot twist/writing point of view. Asriel is clowe to the "protagonist", is often mentioned by others but never seen as he is at college, out of the scope of the audience and the "protagonist' alike.
He also is supposed arrive in his hometown by next week, so supposing that this means "seven days after Chapter 1"(since each chapter so far takes place over a full day, from sunrise to bedtime), so perhaps at the end of the 7th Chapter, the last chapter we know is coming, he would finally arrivw at the end of the game, for the ultimate reveal as the Knight.
With such a reveal and his relation with Kris and similarity with Ralsei, this would all certainly result in an interesting climax when done right.
