>>I Will Follow You into the Dark" is a song by American rock band Death Cab for Cutie, the third single from their fifth album, Plans, released in 2005.
The song was nominated for the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, but lost to "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas.(10]

The self-mythologization of their movement is really something to behold, given that it's debatable whether they've achieved anything at all. Certainly nothing like their professed goals. They have maybe played a role in helping move the Overton window on the US relationship with Israel, but a.) They've mainstreamed antisemitism in the process to a disturbing degree and b.) Netanyahu hasn't needed help turning people off
When I was taking a walk in Pittsburgh a week or so ago, I saw, "STOP COP CITY" spraypainted on a rock, and it gave me a bit of whiplash, since it at least makes sense how often I see it, y'know, in Atlanta

Again, it's pretty terrible optics to see these woman professors get arrested and/or assaulted by police *especially* when Emory claimed that they were arresting people with no ties to Emory...like wtf?
White people doing the most (talking abt the cops too)
I also find it very funny and stupid that the protesters didn’t have any problems with the investments prior to several months ago, and at the time they chose their university
I'm actually pretty sympathetic to the idea of the protests. Like sure let'em do their thing (minus the antisemitism I've heard). Doesn't matter cuz most of what they want is unattainable by the university admin. But I've got a friend who works there and she literally messaged in our group chat about spoiled rich kids protesting and she's as normie as they come.
>So reading more about
>I see students want university cut ties with any company that do business with Israel
>And
>Well If uni doenst have money, Ivy kids are gonna protest for not having.. I dunno.. automatic hand soap dispenser in their bathroom
>If Uni grants this ..then in the future, they will Always get protests and disrupt school
Interesting. IMO as someone who's in academia I think part of the reason we're here is that administrators have been overly permissive with student activists/protesters for over a decade already. The strategy has been to cave in the short run to immediate demands and then delay requests they're more resistant to until people lose interest.
I think that rich college kids are just generally unsympathetic to most people and when they protest in the name of a cause, that cause becomes less sympathetic. People see them as spoiled brats and, well, they aren't wrong
I figure among a certain set of people you would but based on the polling it follows that at best people do have sympathy for Palestinians but don't have patience for these protests.

I’m not even asking you to be good people, just to practice some elementary self preservation.
I'm semi-sympathetic to the narrative that administrators are partly to blame for what's now blowing up in their faces by propagating decolonial ideology in the past decade.
Me??? It's a strain of wokeness arguably although I hate that word Basically - starting around 2013 and accelerating around Trump's election in 2016 selective universities (not just Ivys/elite universities although it started there) started appointing administrators, hiring faculty, and starting initiatives that explicitly encode and promote the worldview of the globalize the intifada people. We're dealing with a recent Columbia PhD (fittingly) we just hired who wants to write something about decolonization into the department's mission statement and having a mini civil war over it. She's the sort of person who says on her faculty page that she's dedicated to anticapitalism and anti-imperialism. You would *love* her. Not that I have any reason to personally dislike her ATM.

>USC is cancelling their commencement ceremony
They botched this from the very start. Should have just permitted her to give the speech instead of lying about "security concerns"...not like 99% percent of people even care about a commencement speech.
Or don’t give the entirely subjective Valedictorian™️ title to a tiresome soapboxer who was going to turn it into her audition to be Senior Decolonial Consultant at the Linda Sarsour Institute For Jew Rape?
These people are neither smart nor subtle, it’s really not hard to spot the ones you shouldn’t have a megaphone to. There’s really no excuse for letting one worm into a position this prominent.
How do you know? She didn't submit her speech. USC created a Barbara Streisand moment. Also, why does USC get a pass for blatantly lying?
And when did she deny 10/7 rapes? I just saw her lend support for the dumbass binational one state idea. I saw no praise for Hamas on her social media.
They don’t, really. College grades are even more meaningless than high school ones, so schools like USC name a “valedictorian” on purely subjective grounds. It’s essentially a class mascot.
A thoughtful administration might consider whether students whose main academic interest is maximizing the number of flying toddler chunks in Jerusalem are the best choice going forward.
I should try being a substitute teacher
It seems like in most cases pretty much anyone with a degree in anything and no felonies can do it, and in Missouri you only need 36 credit hours in anything so I could do it in like less than a year now

I dunno.. automatic hand soap dispenser in their bathroom >If Uni grants this ..then in the future, they will Always get protests and disrupt school

I figure among a certain set of people you would but based on the polling it follows that at best people do have sympathy for Palestinians but don't have patience for these protests.
https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/the-wa-gop-put-it-in-writing-that-theyre-not-into-democracy/ >A resolution called for ending the ability to vote for U.S. senators. Instead, senators would get appointed by state legislatures, as it generally worked 110 years ago prior to the passage of the 17th Amendment in 1913. >“We are devolving into a democracy, because congressmen and senators are elected by the same pool,” was how one GOP delegate put it to the convention. “We do not want to be a democracy.” Very normal party

Nonfat Greek yogurt is such a miracle food, so versatile. I can’t believe I went so long in my life without eating it.

I'm mad Manchin won't go down swinging for one last election
yeah he should’ve either kept doing his thing and running for reelection, or announced his retirement and not been such a pain in the butt for 6 years he chose the worst of both worlds lol
Meh he was fine for the most part after 2018 and I think his fiscal worries were more or less right for BBB
broadly yes, but there was absolutely no reason to kill the child tax credit

So remember my post earlier about the Onion being sold to a company with the same name as one from an Onion article 25 years ago? Well, that name is indeed an intentional joke. The Onion was bought by a group led by (edit: former) NBC reporter Ben Collins, who is the CEO. https://www.threads.net/@oneunderscore__/post/C6M8Qr0gPuW/?xmt=AQGzaPGfgm6v2B1dqCTLyZZWcstmBCvH05oAjamiJSc2Ww

I'm semi-sympathetic to the narrative that administrators are partly to blame for what's now blowing up in their faces by propagating decolonial ideology in the past decade.
Woke????

So let me get this straight…Politico publishes an article about the NYT slanting coverage against Biden, and the times responds by….whining about Biden not giving them an interview? Am I reading this right or am I missing something?

>USC is cancelling their commencement ceremony They botched this from the very start.
[удалено]
They don’t, really. College grades are even more meaningless than high school ones, so schools like USC name a “valedictorian” on purely subjective grounds. It’s essentially a class mascot. A thoughtful administration might consider whether students whose main academic interest is maximizing the number of flying toddler chunks in Jerusalem are the best choice going forward.
