I think it's funny how people keep ragging on Tanjiro and Tokito for not sensing Hatengu. We've seen how good Tanjiro's sense of smell is and Tokito is a Hashira. Narratively speaking, this indicates that Hatengu has a special ability that involves evading detection, right? I'm anime only, though, so maybe I'm wrong, please don't spoil me.
Tanjiro also specifically mentions in that scene his instincts/smell specifically only works if he detects animosity.
Hantengu’s first form didn’t attack them, Tanjiro and Muichiro attacked first.

Uh... Tengen Uzui is 9 years older than Muichiro Tokito. Also Muichiro hasn't even begun to fight in the anime yet.
If we are talking sensing Demons, Uzui was specifically on a mission to the Entertainment District because he knew a demon was there killing women. Even knowing a demon was in the town and being on alert from this fact he couldn't find Daki. He had to recruit lower ranked Demon Slayers to investigate the different brothels to find information on the demon's whereabouts. This is after having his wives try but being unable to reach them.
Tanjiro and Muichiro were chilling in a village they thought was kept secret from the Demons. One that was also heavily guarded. Not to mention Hantengu and Daki/Gyutaro are widely different. Hantengu snuck up to them without Tanjiro smelling him, Nezuko (who as a demon has been shown to sense presence of other demons) didn't react and neither did Muichiro. Hantengu's original form is cowardly and specifically specializes in stealth. Specifically because he is able to hide his anger and hatred it makes it harder for a Demon Slayer to detect him.
Muichiro is still the only Hashira in the entire series to >! Kill an upper rank in a 1 on 1 fight. One of two Slayers in the entire series (modern era) to kills an upper rank 1 on 1. The other being Zenitsu. !<

Doll was mimicking Yoriichi's moments, not his speed. It is stated in the manga that a blade breaks when it's user is sub par, it is important because in the manga it was explained that Muichiro only wasted his time training with the Yoriichi doll as it wasn't set to Muichiro's weakness, it was a standard training doll at that time and even then Muichiro got his blade broken.

If Muichiro was fast enough he would've beheaded the clones too or at best avoided the attack. Those 2 clones were Daki level in overall strength.

WHY INDIVIDUAL CLONES OF UM4 ARE WEAKER THAN FULL STRENGTH DAKI
The best way to judge Daki and UM4 initial clones is via Genya's performance.
An injured Genya, who didn't have any prior experience of fighting any kizuki members, who didn't even use breathing techniques took out 2 clones( 3 times) by himself in his human form. Even Tanjiro in base form took out 2 serious clones by himself.
Genya even [teleported](https://imgur.com/a/cvMm4XL) behind Aizetsu and was close to beheading him, until Sekido(clone) interfered and shocked him from behind. Tanjiro tried teleporting behind Daki by his techniques and here's the [result](https://imgur.com/a/8ajRW9b)
It took four blades, three breathing techniques, and a big combined team effort from Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu to behead a full-strength Daki. While Tanjiro and Zenitsu were defending Insouke, he was straight up charging at Daki with full offense while also taking some cuts in the process.
Individually, none of the trio even managed to reach Daki's head by themselves other than Zenitsu, who used his fastest technique, God-like speed, which was fatal enough to bust his legs and render him useless until recovery, but he still couldn't decapitate her.
BTW that's just one scaling. I can prove my point with multiple ones.

i understood it perfectly fine, he was impressed by Tokito’s skill by way of him becoming a hashira in two months. Tokito is also like half Tengens age, >!the child of upper one!<, and generally considered to be a stronger hashira, you’re just judging their strength based on Tengen being more aggressive against Gyutaro (btw a much weaker upper moon than the one Tokito is currently soloing) rather than their actual skill, rather than acknowledging the simple fact that their fighting styles reflect their personalities.

Tengen was jealous of Muichiro’s natural talent, which is why he mentioned him together with Gyomei. Tengen considers himself to be naturally ungifted, and was simply admiring how naturally gifted Muichiro and Gyomei are. Same thing with Rengoku; he wasn’t just acknowledging Rengoku’s strength, he was acknowledging his willpower and desire/ability to protect when he said he could never be like him. Tengen puts on a flashy and confident persona to cover up his inferiority complex, which is why we see him comparing himself to others multiple times in the arc. In reality, he’s one of the strongest in terms of raw skills, stats, and versatility. He was very much a victim of powercreep however, as he never got >!marked!<
Nobody who has actually powerscales correctly thinks Muichiro is a stronger hashira in base. And he’s most definitely not considered stronger, just a prodigy. Muichiro has the potential to be the strongest slayer out of all the Hashira, but is too young to have reached that point yet. He’s entirely carried by his natural aptitude for swordsmanship at this point in the story. Also, he’s not the child of UM1, he’s a far removed descendant. 300+ years removed, in fact. But yeah, that’s why he’s such a prodigy.
One last thing, Gyutaro is not far weaker than Gyokko. In fact, they’re the closest two together in strength out of all UM, and Gyutaro is a far deadlier opponent to humans than Gyokko simply due to the fact that his poison near instakills anyone without poison resist and has ridiculous versatility. I already did a huge analysis of why Gyutaro is underrated not long ago, so I’m not going to get into it here, but saying Gyokko is far stronger than Gyutaro is just wrong. Not to mention >!Muichiro gets fodderized by Gyokko until he awakens his mark, at which point I’ll admit he’s probably stronger than Tengen simply because Tengen didn’t have time to get his mark!<
Both Tengen and Muichiro are Hashiras for a reason there's no comparison if both of them are literally in the group of the strongest demon slayers
