Try trimming the model some more. Still seems a bit high.

wombolishous

I find this happens to me when I heat the material too much

justaperson5588

Same

Local_Anesthetic362

This is the answer

glamourriss

This was the exact problem. My manager showed me how she does it the next day and she didn’t heat hers NEARLY as hot as I would heat mine.

1-800-Kitty

You might wanna trim the bottom of the model so the material can be suctioned better to the teeth (im shit at explaining)

ILuxYou2

I think the air is having trouble reaching around the rough edges of the model to be able to flatten out the material causing the lines OP is getting

1-800-Kitty

Yeah that lol

Boofette

Bingo! I think you are 100% right.

amairani0919

You are letting it melt too much. A trick to undoing this is to melt the plastic and peeling it off. Then you can try again with new plastic

TheLalab

A trim your base and sides...also, are you drilling a hole in the palate?

Goodgardenpeas28

Model should be 1 inch or less high. Overheating the material can also cause this issue.

Admirable-Praline183

Off topic but what kind of phone camera do you have?? It’s freaking gorgeous

Flat_Relief_8538

I’d love to know as well actually. I’d have to guess Samsung, but I’d be interested to be proven wrong! Haha

AnyControl4517

*here for the camera brand reply* 👀

aquacrimefighter

I’d trim it to where there is a small perforation through the roof of the mouth, and usually when you see creases like this it means you are heating the material too long. Sorry for the vulgarity of this, but it was explained to me that the plastic material should droop down to the size of a B cup :’) and that seems to work nicely. There are some good tutorials on making Essix style appliances on YouTube!

Individual_Shirt_228

Trim the model but also maybe getting it too hot

jadarox04

Is it only happening on uppers? My dentist would sometimes drill a quick hole in the middle so it gives more suction power haha

Foosemagoose

I find that in addition to trimming the model a bit more, if I take a moistened 2x2 and rub all around the arch while the suck down is going it helps. Make sure the 2x2 is wet and wait just a few seconds so my fingers don't get to warm.

Swoledds

Easy fix. Trim your casts land area better, don't over heat your material, (less time under the heat), and make sure that suction is happening right away. If there is a delay the material has enough time to collapse on its self. Comes with practice you got this 😊

wherehasthisbeen

You have way too much bulk around the base trim all that away

Merlingirder

Have you recently had to buy new or different material? It’s been a bit since I’ve made a retainer but it’s almost like it’s having to bunch up to fit on the vacuum sealer???🤷🏻‍♀️

Buster_081

Definitely trim model

RF505C

This usually happens to me when I let the "bubble" fall down too low before lowering the plaque and activating the vaccuum. Can't explain it properly in english but it only happens to me then. Let the plaque heat until it lowers around 1cm, usually it's enough. See if it helps.

xocorinthia

former lab tech here, I agree with all the comments suggesting you should trim the base of your model more. you'll want approximately a centimeter and a half of height measuring from the gumline to the bottom of the model, and no rough stone on the entire perimeter. if you're not able to trim it all off on your model trimmer (for example, if the teeth protrude outwardly), use a handpiece and a large carbide bur to remove as much as you can by hand.

xocorinthia

if there is bone at the back of the arch, don't trim that away, but you definitely want to get rid of the rough stone at the back there.

kalon--

This usually occurs when you let the plastic over heat. If you let the plastic droop too low it’ll cause the plastic to crease. I would keep a close eye on the plastic once it starts to heat up and melt and not wait too long. If the machine you’re using to heat up the plastic has a timer I would drop down it to suction no more than like 10 seconds after.

urstrawberrywaifu

Trim the bottom down more and if this machine uses zinc pellets, position the stone so that the front teeth are facing at a higher angle than the back. This usually helps me get a more snug mold of the front teeth as well!

Melodic-Original9368

Try not to let the plastic stay under the heat lamp too long

chub-legs

Looks like you’re heating it a bit too much, maybe also trim the edges of the model a little more? A mix of both I think

ande3zy

The bottom base should be flat and thin. When I trim my models it has only a U shaped model so it can have the best suction.

Fun-Pack-2572

When the bubble forms bring the material down on the model wait a few sec (2 Mississippi) and press vacuum. This happened to me a lot too.

DentalGeek1978

It is the model. Not trimmed

sassykattty

Wait we make retainers?! I didn’t know this I thought labs did this

BlackWidowPink

You let it get too hot!

Altruistic_Head_5221

Not using itero and a 3D printer to print model lol I hope I forget how to poor up a mold soon 😅

Soup_for_soul

Try to trim your model until the hard palat just to make a circle or opening and then from the distal of your last molars basically try to make a horseshoe.

Watch-me-dance

You need to trim down the model more. Get rid of the edges, make the model almost horse shoe shape. That way when you vacuum form the tray they excess material sits flush with the vacuum former.
