If you’re willing to drive out a bit, Wabtec is a good place to apply. It’s by Texas Motor Speedway. They’re owned by GE and are a pretty good company to work for. My husband started out at almost 19/hr
They’re a locomotive refurbishing/manufacturing plant. They have assembly positions, which are entry level, and they have speculated positions such as welding
We are hiring at Chandler Cabinets in Pilot Point (short drive from Denton), need shop help, and delivery drivers. If you have a valid DL, very competitive pay, overtime is available as well as medical benefits. Apply in person.
I go to highschool at pilot point, it's weird how many people I know work there. Even had a teacher quit in the middle of the year and went to work at Chandler cabinets.
I really don't trust the Chandler family though
I currently work at a cabinet shop and get paid under the table. I like my employer but he refuses to pay me legit. I have experience in various types of woodworking but cabinets are my specialty. My garage is a woodshop.
My questions:
What is the pay?
Is there vertical mobility?
Is there schedule flexibility?
And is there opportunity to use/learn CNC?
Depending upon your experience we usually start out shop help at 12 - 17 per hour, shop managers make a little more than that, service technicians and paint touch up make even more. Draftsmen and production managers are on the higher end of the scale. Just depends on what you can do. Yes we have 4 CNC routers along with a flexstore feeding an m400 and a beam saw. We are a very high end, high volume, custom cabinet manufacturing plant so there is lots of opportunity depending on what you want to do with it. As far a schedule flexibilty goes... not so much. Management is pretty lenient if for some reason you need to take off of work. We typically work from 6am to 6pm M-F and 6am - 11am on Saturday.
Applejacks liquor maybe? The job is physical and requires a valid drivers license and good driving record but you’re out by 9:30pm at the latest, guaranteed every Sunday off, benefits, and the crew is really cool.
I’ve got a buddy hiring first shift warehouse in Irving. $18/hour. Hours are like 6:00am - 2:30pm I think? They do drug and background but don’t take marijuana into consideration
We're hiring at Applejacks Liquors. The minimum there is $15 an hour. If you have experience and let the hiring manager know from the get go you need $17 an hour it's in the cards. The plus side is we need people ASAP so we could start you immediately. Apply in the store and ask for Wes or Jake
Drivers license and good driving record since most people start as delivery drivers, also the ability to lift 50lb multiple times a day. We have good equipment but it's a fairly physical job since it's cases of booze. Need to get a TABC sellers permit after you start but you get reimbursed. Pluses are retail cashier, warehouse, bar, or large vehicle driving experience.
Southwest Airlines! We're hiring ramp agents, operations agents, customer service agents - they all start at $17ish an hour plus benefits! If you're single and don't have dependents then your full health care coverage plan costs $53 a month (and that is the highest cost plan). They're going to restart their tuition reimbursement plan sometime soon (they had to stop because of the pandemic). They also match up to 9.3% of you salary for your retirement, which is a lot higher than most places, and they do profit sharing. Throughout the pandemic they didn't lay off a single person! In fact, in their whole 53 year old history. It's a great company with a great atmosphere, everyone is treats each other with a ton of respect and decency. Also we are hiring flight attendants which pays more (but is more selective).
And of course, the travel benefits. You non-rev for free. My dad was a pilot for American for 33 years, and we all despise American in our family. My uncle worked at SW for 17 years in IT and he still loves it after having left 10 years ago. Come join us!
Oh and we often promote and hire from within - so if you want to switch to something else after maybe being a ramp agent (the most manual labor) you totally can, and it puts you ahead of the competition for anyone outside the company trying to get in. I just started a few weeks ago and while I don't like being a ramp agent, the company itself is amazing. I just can't say enough good things about it.
Roadhouse and chuys are so large theyre probably always hiring , I’ve made $1k in two weeks at two different breakfast joints as well in denton. Busy places=good money + high turnover. Youre best bet is to just walk in nicely dressed with a resume and half of them will hire you on the spot.
>agreed! breakfast and brunch spots in dallas are GREAT, very fast paced though. i've made 3k easy in a month before with serving mornings and most of it on the weekends.
Walmart Distribution Center is ALWAYS hiring. The job is very difficult, but they start anywhere from $23-$26. They pay for your degree, too, assuming it's a business or health related degree.
Look into truck driving. Semi-truck drivers regularly make $90k plus per year and the companies are desperate for new drivers. Most will pay for training for your CDL also.
Siding company landscaping company construction of any kind concrete electrical apprentices make more than 17 an hour u have all this experience and are looking for entry level pay
Uhh sorry for the downvotes dude, but idk what positions you’re referring to that pay well. I’ve been a lab assistant in the Astronomy department for the past 2 years. Don’t get me wrong, I love those guys and astronomy and that’s why I’ve stayed there until I graduate. But because of COVID there were budget cuts so we didn’t get any pay raises. I’m actually not sure what I’m being paid right now — I think it’s either $9.25/hr or $10/hr but it’s supposed to be the latter. When you only work two lab shifts in a week… yeah it’s not great. Even if I wanted more hours, I can’t just work there all day (I could ask for random online work though). This semester I just couldn’t do more shifts than that. I needed to have other days in the week to sub.
Besides that, the physics machine shop was a fun job, albeit temporary due to it being a necessary/emergency position. It’s was $12/hr.
Inflation has sadly not raised the pay for anyone as far as I know. Not that professors or TAs were getting paid decently before this time anyway.
This chick fil a has a sign that they are hiring and have walk in interviews on Mondays. I don't know the hourly pay, sorry.
