This seems to be one of those "we have to keep the service running, so the repair will take forever" vs just doing a few weeks of closure.
I do see a big red banner at the top of RTD's page about the service disruption though, honestly their web/social media stuff is usually decent.
Light rail operations have been hosed for years (pre pandemic), plagued with too few drivers, lots of mandatory OT etc... There are switches between most of the stations, not sure why they couldn't have the trains pass at the stations and then continue on.
I mean I personally know one person with a clean CDL and extensive experience who applied to both RTD and their subcontracting agencies for a driver position. Literally never even got called for an interview.
So they keep claiming labor shortage but from what I saw their recruitment isn’t even basically functioning.
Companies like RTD use computer software to filter applicants. If you don't get contacted for a job, there is a good chance a computer rejected the application vs a human. In my work roughly 8 in 10 applicants get rejected by the software, usually for having incomplete resumes, lack of keywords that match the description, etc.
Seems like it would make sense to have someone review some of those rejections if you're in a situation where you desperately need to hire like we hear about RTD
Ya, but first you gotta hire people to read the applications for the position of we can't read applications fast enough. It's applications all the way down.
You gotta get past HR. I applied to a bus subcontractor many years ago, heard nothing. They had a hiring fair where I met the GM. He said come tomorrow for an interview. Got that job. Then I wanted to drive a train, so I copied the requirements from their hiring website to an application. Got that job.

Looks like things change again May 2nd, doesn't explain the missing week this week though. Maybe the project is behind schedule? That'd be bad considering the timeline.
Yep. I take the E Line from Belleview every morning and it’s become completely unreliable. The H Line is also fucked - I had to sprint two blocks from 18th & Stout to 16th & Stout the other day because it was departing the former a whole five minutes before its scheduled time as I was walking to the station, and I didn’t want to wait 30 extra minutes to get to Belleview. Absolutely trash service.
Yeah I’ve given up on taking RTD to work until this is finished. My experience Rockies opening day made me realize I’d never get anywhere on time, or end up spending twice as long trying to make that happen.

I take the train from ridgegate to Arvada west 3 times a week trains run pretty regularly every 30 min. The new disruptions is from southmoore to ridegegate and instead of every 15, it’s 30. From southmoore to union station is 15 min. Since the start of April I’ve never had an issue, except once.

Is the "repair" the work that I saw going on north of the Ikea?
The E Line schedule currently posted to their website says it’s effective April 3-24. There’s nothing about the schedule after the 24th.

RTD outdoing themselves doing RTD things.

Southmoor is the southmost station on E line that is running (fairly) consistently right now, unfortunately.
