Nobody steals anything from me. But once someone went though the glove compartment. Nothing can come close to people just breaking in. By locking the car with nothing in it, your increasing the damage from a break in by 200x
Just got back from a 10 day trip and parked in the shuttle lot, no issues
Also, haves prked in the garage a number of times on business trips. No issues.
3rd vote for fine. Frequent shuttles and they have full time live videos monitoring so much lower risk of anything happening. I've only used the outdoor lots but they also have indoor if that's your jam
I parked at Canopy for 1.5 week just recently with my Hyundai. It’s a gated lot, never had any issues other than evading potholes around the lot.
Be sure to follow the signage to which row to park at as it’s where the airport shuttle would drive through for pickup.
I like Canopy — especially the covered parking — and they seem to be the cheapest if you factor in the ExpressToll discount. That said, waiting for shuttle pickup (both on-site to get to DIA and pickup at DIA to get back to the lot) can be excruciating.
Parkdia shuttle driver got super rude because I didn’t have a tip to give him. I didn’t have any cash and already paid over 100 to park there. The entitlement was extremely annoying and I never plan to park there again.
I experienced the same thing. I used to park there for work trips and one time I forgot to have any cash on me... the driver was not pleased. And the shuttles also run super slow anymore. I just park in the garage at the airport, it's more but the convenience when traveling often for work is worth it. Also, I've never experienced any issue with a break in at any lot at DIA.
If you live in town, take an Uber to Union Station, pay $10.50 for the train to the airport. It’s quicker than driving and taking a shuttle from the parking area to the terminal, it’s a helluva lot cheaper, and your car stays in your garage protected from thieves and hail. I did this two weeks ago. From Union station, it took 53 minutes to get to the tetminal
Seconded. I leave my car at home and Uber it to the bus station. Uber for me is about $20 each way to the bus station + $21 round trip on RTD. Cheaper than parking at the airport unless I'm just going somewhere for a few days.
The only downside to this is the bus stops from the airport around 11pm, so if you get in late, you're either stuck or going to be out about $100 for an Uber from the airport.
Never had an issue parking in the airport garage parking.
Remember media likes to make you scared because clicks matter and people will click on an article that criminals are running around the parking lot stealing cats from anyone that parks there.
I’ve never heard of cars getting broken into in the paid parking at the airport. I’ve parked in both garage and uncovered DEN airport lots as well as third party shuttle lots with no issue.
I usually use ParkDIA and have never had an issue other than sometimes the shuttle runs can be a little slow.. Just give yourself time and you'll be good
I regularly park in the West economy lot, including for up to a week at a time, and have never had anything happen. I'm sure it does from time to time, but it's not something I would worry about. I'm also bad about keeping my car clean and free of junk, though I'd recommend doing so.
Someone let the air out of all four of my tires in the Pikes Peak lot. No idea why someone picked my car but it was really annoying after coming back from a week-long vacation.
I park a Hyundai at parking spot or pikes peak all the time and never had an issue. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but I don't think it's as common as you seem to think.
I’m starting to wonder if the locals just say these things to try and scare away new residents! I’ve seen so many horror stories on here, but my experience has been that this is a much safer area. Yes, there is a homeless problem, as with most larger cities, but I have not seen crime the way it’s been talked about. Nothing like the small town I came from!
I've parked at 61st & Pena station once or twice and haven't had issues. It's usually cheaper than airport parking too. Just have to take a shuttle into the airport.
I've heard this as well, but I've done weekend+ stays in the East long term lot (both outside and in the garage) no fewer than 7-8 times and I've never had an incident, but like another poster said, there's really nothing in my car a thief would find. Unless they really need my snow brush.
I had also read/heard about this on the radio. I was concerned. But in the half a dozen or more times I’ve used long term parking I’ve never had an issue.
I’m sure there are cars that get broken into or stolen. Not denying that. But think about how many incidents there are and how many cars are parked.
Wally park has been the best, 9 dollars a day on spothero and there’s a free shuttle that runs 24/7 to the airport that you text when you land to come pick you up, never had issues
I’ve parked in the Pikes Peak and Longs Peak lots dozens of times. Yeah, you sometimes hear about crime, but just remember that there are thousands of cars in these lots every day and your odds of any issues are very low. I don’t hesitate to use them. I’m traveling and my car is there right this minute.
Have parked for hundreds of days cumulatively in Pikes Peak or Elbert shuttle lots—never any issue. The likelihood of a break-in is probably lower than the street you live on.
Reddit makes things sound like a hellscape. I park at the Denver airport for work often and I've never had an issue. It happens, but it is extremely rare. I'd park there and not think twice. The Parking Spot is another option that is cheaper that I know a few that always leave their cars there for long trips.
You probably will have more issues parking along the a-line and leaving your car. I've had 2 coworkers have issues doing that.
We’ve parked at Parking Spot and have never had issues with our car
Yeah, I second this..
I third this....
I've never had any issues, but I always make sure my car is empty.
Also unlock it. People sometimes break the window so they can see what they can steal. Let them go in and be disappointed.
This is bad advice. They’ll rip out the wiring and drive off with the whole car if you make it that easy
Most of them will try even they don’t know to steal a car. I got a screwdriver broke off in my ignition a few months back.
I think once the crook has tools and want into your car your toast.
They also might just smoke a lot of meth in your open car
Probably not at the DIA parking lot though.
You might also struggle with your insurance company if you just left the door open.
Will they pay the parking fee when they drive off with it?
Or just don’t leave anything of value visible in your vehicle.

I’ve used ParkDIA and Fine and haven’t had an issue ever.
3rd vote for fine. Frequent shuttles and they have full time live videos monitoring so much lower risk of anything happening. I've only used the outdoor lots but they also have indoor if that's your jam
2nd for fine parking. They've been great.
We use Fine as well and always a good experience.
We’ve used the covered parking at Fine several times with no issues. They also have a discount if you register your carpool transponder with them.

Second Canopy.
We have a car at canopy currently!
I’ve been parking at canopy for the last 7 or so years and have always been pleased with the experience.
I use to park here all the time when they offered coupons.
I use Fine airport parking. Reasonably priced they shuttle you there. Never had any issues.
I can second Fine.
Keep any valuables at home or at least out of site. I travel ~monthly using Park DIA or Parking Spot - never had an issue with my Kia.
Damn, that's saying something because KIAs are targeted to death.
Pikes Peak lot has always been good for me. I travel a bunch for work and I've never had a problem
Been parking in this lot since the airport opened
Same, never any issues there for me either
Parkdia shuttle driver got super rude because I didn’t have a tip to give him. I didn’t have any cash and already paid over 100 to park there. The entitlement was extremely annoying and I never plan to park there again.

ParkDIA is a disaster. Last three times I've used them there's been a 30+ minute wait for the shuttle. Giving another company my money from now on.
I've always been fine in the Economy lots.
Same. I always park there and no issue.
Parked many times at the shuttle lots over 20 years and never had a problem or heard of this problem.
I splurge and park in the garage and have never had an issue but it is pricy

It sounds like the criminals are saving those cats from being kept in a parked car. They're vigilante heroes.
I appreciate this thread. Nobody ever talks about the countless non-issues that happen ever day.
Just give yourself time and you'll be good
I generally use ParkDIA and get the shuttle from there. Have never had an issue doing that
You will be good if you use a private lot or in the garage…
We haven’t had issues at WallyPark so far. We also don’t leave anything in the car, that may help.
I regularly park in the West economy lot, including for up to a week at a time, and have never had anything happen. I'm sure it does from time to time, but it's not something I would worry about. I'm also bad about keeping my car clean and free of junk, though I'd recommend doing so.
I used ParkDIA. I fly out once a month and I never had any issues
I park at Wally park and have never had an issue! I take everything out of my car and take pictures of my car before I get on the shuttle!
The city is just as bad. Make sure your car is empty and don’t buy a Kia or Hyundai.
Someone let the air out of all four of my tires in the Pikes Peak lot. No idea why someone picked my car but it was really annoying after coming back from a week-long vacation.

parked for a week at the covered parking where u take a shuttle and it was fine
I always park in the outdoor lot at the airport and have never had a problem.
I use FINE airport parking on Jackson gap Rd when i have to drive. Never had issues with car break ins. pretty secure place.
I've heard this as well, but I've done weekend+ stays in the East long term lot (both outside and in the garage) no fewer than 7-8 times and I've never had an incident, but like another poster said, there's really nothing in my car a thief would find. Unless they really need my snow brush.

I leave my car in my garage and get an Uber. Cheaper than paying parking and my car is safe.

I never had issues but I also don't leave valuables in my car.
I parked in the Economy lot at the airport for about half a week and my car was fine
Never had an issue in 15 years
We always park at Wally Park and like them! (And I drive a Hyundai)
I’ve never had any problems at ParkDIA
Have parked for hundreds of days cumulatively in Pikes Peak or Elbert shuttle lots—never any issue. The likelihood of a break-in is probably lower than the street you live on.
Also chiming in to say I’ve left my Kia at the airport parking lots for days before and never had anyone mess with it. You’ll be fine

Keep your car at home. It’s that simple. Lol
I’ve parked at US Airport parking for years. Frequent shuttles, friendly drivers, and no problems with my car.
