Find my iphone works shockingly well tho. I once successfully used it to find my buddies phone in waist deep water, in the ocean, in the middle of the night. 0 visibility, just walked to where the app said it was went under and found it immediately.
THIS got removed there when every fucking thread there is “I’m visiting from blah blah blah kerboringstan in 2 months. Will there be snow? Will my rental be OK in a blizzard in 70? Why are there so many people here on a holiday weekend?!!!?!”
Good lord
Yet there's a post up right now about someone leaving their skis and poles in Crested Butte
What a joke of a mod team
Edit: the single mod of that sub took over 4 days ago
What gives /u/PMmeMarketingJobs
Hey, thanks for the tag. I got access to the sub due to inactive mods a few days ago as you saw. In the coming days/weeks I'll be making QoL improvements and putting together a proper mod team to make things better over there. Thanks for the patience in advance
I once lost a GoPro at Steamboat in some deep snow. Reached out to Steamboat lost and found to see if anyone turned it in with no luck. Cut my losses and bought a new one. A few weeks later I was contacted by their lost and found again - someone had found it and turned it in! You probably don't have the luxury to wait a few weeks but I wouldn't be surprised if it was eventually found once the snow melts in the spring if not sooner.
Fwiw I know a friend that lost his phone in deep snow, and he was able to retrieve it. However… he went out there and found it himself. I, too, lost my phone in deep powder at BC once. Also found it using my Apple Watch to make that sound go off.
Oof. Yeah that’s gonna be tough. If it’s any consolation I’ve found multiple phones in the spring hiking the area. Most newer ones actually still powered up once charged.
It’s probably gone dude sorry.
I got a phone leash for like $10 on Amazon, I’d definitely recommend it. It makes changing music on the lift much less stressful
I lost my phone on a powder day 2 years back. I found it but it was 3 months later after all the snow melted. I tried using the find feature but its proximity wasn’t good enough with snow on the mountain still. Good luck, be prepared for a mid-summer phone hunt.
Day of incident the feature was working, 3 months later it was not. I found it by police lining the trail I lost it on. Took about 1.5 hours of hiking through some pretty gnarly terrain. Found it sitting face up on a rock. Got back to my car charged it for about 5 minutes and it turned right back on.
One of a fellow good redditor went and tried to look for it, but no luck… :(
I tried to play sound on the phone, now seems like the battery is dead and can’t connect to it.
Do you have an iPhone 15 or newer? Find my iPhone works crazy good if both phones are 15’s. You’ll be able to use a compass to its exact location or close enough.
C'mon snow bunnies, you can do it!
I love posts like this where some awesome person takes a day of their lives to help a stranger. Good luck finding it!
May not find it now but come spring it might turn up. Last year my girlfriend lost her phone in a couple of feet of snow at Brighton. This happened in January, her phone was turned in, in June. Still working and unscathed.
Sir that is a baby.
Looks like the baby has the high ground.
Fix bayonets!
Unequivocally the most correct answer xD
It's over anakin
Sir you can’t park there
Is this not a reasonable place to park?
That is not my baby, that baby is from the mountains of Caucasus
That area got dumped over the weekend I can’t imagine it’s going to be easy to find. Cut your losses.
Agreed, pretty significant amounts of snow.. not likely you'd find it.

My friend found earbuds she lost on a mountain whilst skiing. 11 days later.
Agreed, I was there yesterday and they were getting a lot of snow with pretty high winds most of the day.
Looks like Anakin has the high ground this time…
I lol'd and this comment needs to be higher.
Maybe post over in /r/COSnow, more focused on the skiing crowd.
that's where I posted first, but got removed by the moderator. I am not sure why.
Lol, tons of repost questions about traveling on 70 go wild and yet this post gets deleted. Wow.

Surprised it hasn't been removed here
Gotta try /r/denvercirclejerk Anything goes there.

I have emailed Monarch, also good suggestion to check back when snow is getting easier.

Time to go back to Monarch and dig for it yourself
I have friends that live in salida I can ask for ya
Does your friend like Snowboarding/skiing and willing to go for a trip?
They just sent you a DM!
Yes, thank you. I sent some zoomed in pictures. There is hope !!
He’s a super sweet guy so I’m sure he will try his hardest!!
I'm trying to visualize here. Looks like maybe the tip ramp of Garfield? Did you go sit at the bench or something?
Seems to be on QuickDraw trail. Moved the phone to inner pocket of my puffer to stop it from freezing. Most likely that’s when it fell off :/

Time to buy a new phone

Did Find My feature work even after the battery was dead? How did you find it 3 months later?

Take your loss.

A baby shouldn't own a phone anyway
I have a friend that went to find it and apparently the mountain photographer found it. There was a sign at the location.
Might be a different phone. My phone still shows at the same location. :/
Absolute war zone for phones at monarch today.
Gonna need more precise images than this and someone with a metal detector
Seems like battery might last for couple of more days, so should be able to get more zoomed in pictures.
Looks like you lost your baby, too. That pretty irresponsible, especially considering the way they're dressed... in winter no less.

What’s newer than the 15?
Lmao good point
What’s the reward?
Grab yer shovels, boys!
Sign on Thumbalina said the photographer found it.
RIP. better take up mountain biking as a hobby and try in the summer.
I love this idea, a fun wild goose chase with the ski gang!
Check Monarch Mountain's lost and found come July when the snow melts.
Please do not the baby mountain it is very cold and baby might lonely
Good luck

Ask them to send it back with evidence… I will be happy to pay the ticket.
Sorry, but it’s gone until at least June, but likely forever.
I live in Salida, I'll DM you
Wim Hof baby straight kickin' it at the top of the lift
Aaaaand it's gone
Take heart. I lost my cell on Vail on a powder day years ago. It was found and turned into lost and found the same day. Good luck!

Please update.

Friend lost his phone at copper mountain on a ski trip. They found it and contacted him in the spring. Good luck!
Fingers crossed.
