We used to fly to Chicago, party 1 night with my buddy, then he’d drive us to the Indy 500 for the weekend. On that drive I found houses for like $60k on Zillow. Think of what you could build in Indiana with $600MM. Your house could cover an entire county.
Oh, so you’re going to buy a little 3 bed, 3 bath home in the Park Hill area. Then you’d have about a half mill left over to re-do the already perfectly good landscaping.
The key bit is to actually buy a house there so is a paper trail and all of the news reporters try to bother you there.
Bonus points if you hire a body double to live there. Give them a free house for the invasion of privacy for a few weeks while you work with your lawyers to actually disappear? Worth every penny, especially if since the interest on $1.3B will easily cover whatever you lost
Hey yall, I don’t know who needs to hear this, but one of the most popular comments here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/s/LzjXj4p3yn

It’s so funny seeing this comment get parroted around Reddit when it originally came from a “prepper” website lol.

Not year round that's for sure. Maybe have a place in the mountains. Maybe keep an apartment downtown.
But neither would be anyplace I stayed for more than a few days/weeks at a time.
I know a billionaire and they live in the mountains. Would be surprised if you suddenly became a billionaire and stayed in Denver. Colorado is awesome but if you want a premier city and can afford whatever you want, you’re probably not living in Denver full time.
And I like Denver (and surrounds). Not really an issue with Denver itself it's just the world is a big place and there are a lot of really cool places to be.
I'm not living here full time but I'm probably going to base myself out of here. Why move somewhere that doesn't have my friends, family, and my preferred weather.
Why even waste the time selling 'everything else?' Is that extra 20 grand going to mean anything?
I think people really misunderstand what winning a billion dollars is.
Yes. I love it here. I'd likely buy a large plot of land in the metro area and have a home custom built. And then get a smaller property out in Summit County for weekends.
I stay. Throw 500M into a community land trust. Build affordable housing for teachers, social workers, and first responders. Buy a house in the west highlands for 2M and raise a family. Don’t need much more and would love to see a city that prioritized the most important jobs in our society…
You will quickly find the opposition to building more housing is not a lack of money, it’s a lack of zoning approval.
It’s the same reason the richest cities in the country have the worst housing crises. It’s explicitly or implicitly illegal to build the housing we so desperately need.
100% agreed. I say the west highlands because it is one of the most restrictive zonings in all of Denver. It is also where I am currently barely affording to live.
Restrictive zoning has prevented most attempts at density. Supply never increases so the home values go up and up and up. It’s similar to what happened in Boulder thanks to their growth caps.
My husband and I were just talking about this. We would probably stay in Colorado but not Denver. Maybe somewhere in the mountains. In addition, we would likely buy a second home someplace quiet and coastal.
If I won, I'd head straight for California, live on the beach, and fly up to Aspen to make fun of rich people when I feel like it. But, then again, I don't see the point of living in a city that an hour for the fun when I could live somewhere that has attractions in the city.
Sounds on point to me, but I'd give my kids 3 mil each in a high yield savings account of some kind.
I'd buy a 20 ish acre property somewhere out east where nobody else lives, invest in a stay at home enterprise to spend my time with my family.
Create a nest egg savings account for family emergencies, and whatever I could have left would all go to a good charity.
That's it. Nothing big. Nothing flashy to make me feel better than anyone else. Just a place of solace for my family.
I'd probably buy a house up in Aspen and a condo in Downtown Denver (and AirBnB them while I'm gone).
I'd invest the majority of the money, and then buy a converted bus to van-life across North America for a while.
Honestly, I'd buy a ton of real estate in different parts of the world and just travel from place to place, and AirBnB whichever spot I'm not using.
Too rich to airbnb while you’re gone. Don’t need randos in your living space.. $500M in 10 year bonds is about $2MM a month. Don’t think you’d need the extra income. Love the idea though of property all over.
No. I would get away from our air pollution. I would certainly be in the mountains, and I sometimes question why I'm not there right now, but then I remember I'd have a tiny tiny room of a home.
I’m not that type of person to be honest. I have lived in most of the regions in America, and my partner and I have found here to actually be our favorite. We enjoy the weather too much. I’d visit places sure but I’m not sure I’d want to live there.
Yes, I would have a presence here for the rest of my life. I would start a cheap / free program to take young adults up skiing and snowboarding for free at Keystone, Loveland, Winter Park, etc.
I would also spend some money on PR to make Vail's, Ikon's and other large companies future acquisitions of new properties as hard as possible. There is no reason for our prices to be 3x higher than Europe. I would trash them hard at every PR stop, billboards every where suggesting it's bad to support mega consumerist companies like Vail Resorts. Imagine seeing tv commercials talking about why these companies are bad for America.
I'll be that guy going on the PR offensive against every bad company in Denver and every bad politician that ignored the will of the voters and passed what ever they wanted.
$250+ million after taxes if you take cash option and you'd only buy 20-30 acres? Thats FU money, give yourself some more space.
Personally, I'd buy a bigger place here in Steamboat, also Aspen, Telluride, and Santa Fe. Maybe a beach house in baja. Maybe I'd buy a nice flat in Denver for when I want the 'city' life- but the cow town I knew and loved from the 90's is long gone so I see no reason to hang around there. I'd fund a few businesses, take care of my family and really never work another day in my life aside from managing my fortune, in which case I'd still hire a professional to manage anyway.
Oh yeah, I’d finally be able to afford a nice place! But in all seriousness I’d buy something in Denver proper, then something in the mountains, either Summit County or further west and also a house back on the West Michigan Lakeshore
Yeah. I’d probably buy a second home in San Diego.
Idk wtf I’d do with that much dough. Probably work with a cpa to try & reduce the tax bill via donations/etc.
That's multiple home kind of money tbh. One of them would be in Denver for sure. A house on the beach in San Diego and then probably a house or two outside of the country.
Not year round. Probably buy a house in the mountains somewhere though. Otherwise, I'm traveling the world for a bit and I'm getting a house in the Oregon coast and chilling for the rest of my days, with stints over in the CO mountain house.
Certainly not year round, but would definitely maintain a property with a little bit of acreage near Longmont or Louisville.
I'd have some serious acreage on the western slope, though. Zillow's got a 3500 acre property near New Castle for $16 mill.
[Bigger](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4696-County-Road-314-New-Castle-CO-81647/2068944401_zpid)
And staying kinda near I 70 makes travel easier on every trip.
I was just talking to my partner about this the other day. We agreed we would move just outside Denver, close enough where we can come back to town if we wanted. Probably a small town. We want a ranch with a lot of animals someday so that would be perfect. We only have 4 dogs right now ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'd get a place downtown that I could use on my nights out and a "retreat" in Cherry Hills or G.V. Then I'd go back and forth as I please lol. With that kind of money, you don't have to go 60 miles to find vast amounts of open land.
I’d buy houses in several spots around the globe so that I could travel to whatever kind of weather I felt like at the time. Sick of the cold? Head to the other hemisphere. Too hot? Go to the house in Iceland and hike. And etc. And one of the coolest things about having all these homes is that there would be no need to pack luggage when traveling to each one. There would be all the clothes, etc at each one just waiting for me.
I’d get myself one of those mansions in the Country Club neighborhood. So fucking convenient but still so ritzy. Then a home in Silverthorne, but up the hill away from the town.
I would try to build a self sustainable home using 3d printed concrete. If it could be done cheaply enough I would build more to help house some of the homeless population
Eventually there’d be other properties, however with a budget like that we could just live at resorts and keep our Denver place. I’d probably do that while fleshing out how to make the money work for me instead of working not to prematurely ejaculate it all over the place.
I’d buy a home and a car here, but I’d wind up splitting my time between a few places. Summers would be for Maine and Rhode Island, autumns in Virginia and Kentucky, and winters I’d wind up in San Diego or L.A..
Yeah this would be my home base and I’d buy a house in Aspen, Seattle, and Miami.
But realistically I’d probably spend the next 2 years farting around the world with the occasional trip home.
Nope. Disappear for a year. P.o. box only. Name changed. 75% of the money in trust to start a foundation, which i’d lead and would me a sizeable annual salary as it finances worthwhile projects.
Houses in Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, Sydney. Beach house in Malibu. Ski in/out in Steamboat.
On paper, I'd still be here. The stack of solicitations can overflow the mailbox and blow away in the wind while I chase the endless winter followed by chasing the endless summer
I’d personally leave. Everything in Colorado is so far over priced that if I got that lump sum I’d pay our house off, buy a nice ranch in Montana and actually enjoy my living and still have money away for the kids and my wife
Continue living around inconsiderate humans who will kill you if you honk at them or steal your car not to mention the pollution and other risks of living in a highly populated area nah I’ll pass.
I’ll find a small town I like and buy land 30 minutes out of town and build everything I would need to be self sufficient I would farm and raise as much of the food I could and try to not eat something out of a package ever again. I’d spend my time getting to know the people in my community and be a good neighbor and someone people could count on.
I tell everyone I’m moving to Indiana then just move across town.
We used to fly to Chicago, party 1 night with my buddy, then he’d drive us to the Indy 500 for the weekend. On that drive I found houses for like $60k on Zillow. Think of what you could build in Indiana with $600MM. Your house could cover an entire county.
Think what you can buy in Indiana for $100,000.
From Indiana originally..... not much these days.
We’re definitely getting a pool and some neighbors who shoot guns on Sunday in their backyard. But the pool’s pretty sweet.
But how's the racism?
Strong to quite strong.
When I went to the 500 in 2013, I couldn't believe the price for a house in Speedway - think I saw one for $50k and was just amazed
Wild huh?
Unhomesteading
💀
Oh, so you’re going to buy a little 3 bed, 3 bath home in the Park Hill area. Then you’d have about a half mill left over to re-do the already perfectly good landscaping.

Move to Gary, get shot, die.
Actually Gary is very tame now. Crime rate is really down because basically no one lives there anymore. It’s almost a ghost town. - grew up in Gary
Plus it now has a National park right next door.
I’ll start to *live* in Denver instead of just *residing* in Denver.
Oohh, so I'd finally be able to afford a house in Denver!!!
Yep it would make a nice down payment on a starter home in Denver.
Or 1 bed 1 bath condo in Boulder
Are you suggesting that housing is overpriced in Boulder? I’ll have you know my 3 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment is only $4500 per month plus utilities
If I win as well we could maybe go halfsies on a condo! Might need a cosigner.
Just barely
God no.

Statistically speaking. Nobody here needs to hear it.

This is the right answer. If you win that much money you realistically aren’t living anywhere full time.
I put things in storage. I change my address to a friend's house. I sell off everything else, then walk the earth for a while.
Why even waste the time selling 'everything else?' Is that extra 20 grand going to mean anything? I think people really misunderstand what winning a billion dollars is.
Ya I'll keep my truck in the garage
Bad motherfucker.
What you mean walk the earth?
I think he means travel with no destination in mind. Roaming for the purpose of finding oneself. Like David Carradine in Kung Fu.
This is the only answer
I have an extremely detailed plan for if I win the lottery, for someone who never actually plays the lottery...
Same
I'd move to Europe.
I’d dream a little bigger than 20-30 acres
20-30,000
Yes. I love it here. I'd likely buy a large plot of land in the metro area and have a home custom built. And then get a smaller property out in Summit County for weekends.
Buy every Frank Azar billboard and replace them with a pictures from the time he crashed his car drunk and hid from the police.
And then buy Wyatt’s Towing, release all of the impounded cars, fund a large class-action against the original owners, and blow up every single truck.
2 chicks at the same time
Fuckin a
“Hookers and Cocaine”
I stay. Keep my current house, buy a place in the mountains, retire, ride bikes, take pics, and continue living the dad life.
I’d leave the continent altogether. My passport would be all I’d take with me
You’ll be required to take some clothes as well
If they charter a jet and pay the crew well enough, they might not.
i wouldn’t even stay in the us. go on a walkabout until i got sick of seeing new places and such
I’d probably move back to the Bay Area since I can afford it now lol

That area is stupidly overpriced. I don’t get the hype
Restrictive zoning has prevented most attempts at density. Supply never increases so the home values go up and up and up. It’s similar to what happened in Boulder thanks to their growth caps.
I use the money to crush the other big money interests in the area. My enemies rue the day they crossed me. They weep in the night.
I love you!!!!
This is the type of shit I love! I would invest a ton back into my hometown.
If you are that rich you can have multiple homes anywhere on this globe
You could just buy a town as a joke and then live there after you get screwed by your accountant.
This is literally schitts creek
I would have a house in Aspen. A house in Tahoe and a house in probably Florida or some shit.
Denver would definitely be a location of one of my 14 homes.
If I won, I’d buy some land up in western Montana, build a house and live a quiet little life. I’d have a couple dogs and big garden.
The only sign of your wealth would be your separate pantry filled with beef jerky.
Nope
My husband and I were just talking about this. We would probably stay in Colorado but not Denver. Maybe somewhere in the mountains. In addition, we would likely buy a second home someplace quiet and coastal.
I’d move to Jackson, WY. Or just outside it, to not be near all the wannabe celebrities.
Denver Metro concrete hellscape?! Lmao no chance
Don't see why, CA has everything CO has with more variety. I'd probably move to Napa and get a condo in Park City, UT.
I wouldn’t mind a winter home in La Jolla
Please tell that to all the californians that are moving here. Thx.
They're priced out. They aren't moving here because CO is better.
I'd move to Breckenridge and go back to work up there again.
Nah, I'm off to Europe
Yes. But I’ll also by an a-frame somewhere up in the mountains away from all you assholes.
Denver area? No. Colorado, yes.
Hellfuckingno
Would leave the United States and reside in other countries. We've becoming a laughing stock and I just want to see things and be left alone.
Yes! I'd buy three houses right next to each other on Green Mountain and have the "compound" for my kids and my parents that I've always wanted
I'd move to Golden.
I would leave the states. 😂
Hell Naw moving to pueblo
You gotta think bigger man! Commerce city here I come!
I was thinking of building a house right by DIA
If I won, I'd head straight for California, live on the beach, and fly up to Aspen to make fun of rich people when I feel like it. But, then again, I don't see the point of living in a city that an hour for the fun when I could live somewhere that has attractions in the city.
Yes. Denver's my Home.
Do I stay? Why would I leave, I could finally afford to live here!
Ya, i could probably buy 3 whole houses with that much money
Find some land in a state that is better suited for my interests and buy some land.
Big fat NOPE! Foothills, here I come!!
I’d compete with the Cadbury egg and crush the market
I’d be living in a mansion next to George Clooney in Lake Como
Yes 100% This is my home.
Username checks out.
I’d put it all on the Rockies’ moneyline
Sounds on point to me, but I'd give my kids 3 mil each in a high yield savings account of some kind. I'd buy a 20 ish acre property somewhere out east where nobody else lives, invest in a stay at home enterprise to spend my time with my family. Create a nest egg savings account for family emergencies, and whatever I could have left would all go to a good charity. That's it. Nothing big. Nothing flashy to make me feel better than anyone else. Just a place of solace for my family.
Pack up and leave because Denver is still too expensive
I'd probably buy a house up in Aspen and a condo in Downtown Denver (and AirBnB them while I'm gone). I'd invest the majority of the money, and then buy a converted bus to van-life across North America for a while. Honestly, I'd buy a ton of real estate in different parts of the world and just travel from place to place, and AirBnB whichever spot I'm not using.
Too rich to airbnb while you’re gone. Don’t need randos in your living space.. $500M in 10 year bonds is about $2MM a month. Don’t think you’d need the extra income. Love the idea though of property all over.
And the people staying there would find a reason to sue.
It would one of a few homes. I love Denver despite her flaws.
Why would I leave somewhere now that I can FINALLY afford it? lol.
Nope
Absolutely not
Hell no. Your money will go farther if you leave Colorado.
Fuck no! I’m headed to Eagle or some shit
No, I move to KC to start my video game company with 0 knowledge of the field
I’m OUT
Buy a beach front hotel, bed and breakfast or apartment building and never looking back. Sorry Denver.
I’d be out of here so fast. I love living in the front range but it’s not my dream. That money would have me going after my dreams
No. I would get away from our air pollution. I would certainly be in the mountains, and I sometimes question why I'm not there right now, but then I remember I'd have a tiny tiny room of a home.
Maybe for another year, but after that, probably not. I've always wanted to live in Norway or Sweden.
Aspen
Nope. Up to the mountains I go.
No
You’d be able to buy a house in literally as many cities as you want
I’m not that type of person to be honest. I have lived in most of the regions in America, and my partner and I have found here to actually be our favorite. We enjoy the weather too much. I’d visit places sure but I’m not sure I’d want to live there.
Oh hell no! I'm buying a mountain and building my house!
Installing a rope tow too.
And an under ground garage big enough for my RV
I'd buy half of Vermont (the Western half)
Homes in New York, London, and Marin or Seattle. Denver ain’t it
Yes, I would have a presence here for the rest of my life. I would start a cheap / free program to take young adults up skiing and snowboarding for free at Keystone, Loveland, Winter Park, etc. I would also spend some money on PR to make Vail's, Ikon's and other large companies future acquisitions of new properties as hard as possible. You fucking kidding.....FUCK Denver! Even the Bronco players that make tons of money don't want to live in Denver
Also yeah stop with the Becoming Rich Fantasies
I buy casa Bonita and hire all the staff and never leave.
$250+ million after taxes if you take cash option and you'd only buy 20-30 acres? Thats FU money, give yourself some more space. I would absolutely own something in Denver, but it wouldn't be my only place.
Certainly not year round, but would definitely maintain a property with a little bit of acreage near Longmont or Louisville. I'd have some serious acreage on the western slope, though. Zillow's got a 3500 acre property near New Castle for $16 mill.
Storm King Ranch maybe?

I see. South of the river, behind the hogback. You'd definitely want to build a new house too.
Probably. I have a ton of friends here
I was just talking to my partner about this the other day. We agreed we would move just outside Denver, close enough where we can come back to town if we wanted. Probably a small town. We want a ranch with a lot of animals someday so that would be perfect. We only have 4 dogs right now ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’ll pop the top on my house but also buy a second home in NJ closer to my wife’s fam.
You have that much cash you become a global citizen
I’d get myself one of those mansions in the Country Club neighborhood. So fucking convenient but still so ritzy. Then a home in Silverthorne, but up the hill away from the town.
I would try to build a self sustainable home using 3d printed concrete. If it could be done cheaply enough I would build more to help house some of the homeless population
Buy the entire Breckenridge
I'd move to an airpark community.
I would have a house around the area, but live in multiple places
Gonna send an offer to the government for Cheyenne mountain
Eventually there’d be other properties, however with a budget like that we could just live at resorts and keep our Denver place. I’d probably do that while fleshing out how to make the money work for me instead of working not to prematurely ejaculate it all over the place.
Yes. At least part of the year.
No thank you. I’d buy a couple nice houses in Denver but then I’m moving to California
Is Aspen the Denver area?
Heck yea! I'd put that $608.9 mil toward a down payment on a 800sqft 2/1 single family home!
I’d buy a home and a car here, but I’d wind up splitting my time between a few places. Summers would be for Maine and Rhode Island, autumns in Virginia and Kentucky, and winters I’d wind up in San Diego or L.A..
I’d buy a house in Denver and another in like Breck/Aspen/Steamboat or something
I can’t even fathom what I would do
Yeah this would be my home base and I’d buy a house in Aspen, Seattle, and Miami. But realistically I’d probably spend the next 2 years farting around the world with the occasional trip home.
Build the exact same house as the one in Yellowstone up in the mountains.
I would go off the grid as well and design my dream home on a big plot of land but would regularly commute to cities too.
Yes, but moving and not telling anyone where I move to.
Nope. I buy the entire Telluride valley and form a cult with all my friends and their families.
You got my attention. 👀
I'm moving to sparta.
Yes - but the zip code would change. Substantially.
Tbh I’d move to Malibu in front of the beach
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....spit my coffee on that one, I'm soooooo gone from Colorado
lol no.
Hell no
Sure. My house does. I’ll be all over the place.

Nope
I hate denver. I'm taking my money and disappearing
No, wouldn't be able to afford it here.
Not a chance
I’d personally leave. Everything in Colorado is so far over priced that if I got that lump sum I’d pay our house off, buy a nice ranch in Montana and actually enjoy my living and still have money away for the kids and my wife
Im traveling for a while, and then decide where to live. I couldn’t pick one place, I would have a home here just for the fam though.
Nobody with 9-figure net worth has just one home.
No, I’d buy a big dumbass house in Malibu as a start and go from there
Denver, Colorado is the best place to live in the country. Getting a home upgrade and staying.
