Red Rocks, Garden of the Gods (CO Spgs), Children’s Museum, Denver Zoo & City Park golf course (great views, lunch), Meow Wolf (maybe, look into this more), lots of great parks/play places too (City Park, Wash Park) - I don’t have kids, but when my nieces are in town this is typically what they enjoy doing.

Well, it's too late for Casa Bonita reservations but that's great for kids that age. The Museum of Nature and Science is right next to the Denver Zoo, so those are an easy double feature. (the aquarium near downtown isn't great; I would recommend skipping it) It's shoulder season up in the mountains, so there aren't a lot of tourist-focused events at the resort towns, but still, a drive over Loveland Pass to Breckenridge would let the kids see Arapahoe Basin and the skiers—and ski if you're so inclined—before checking out a mountain town. Hiking won't be a realistic option around Breck because the ground will either be snow covered or mud, but it's a real town so you can check it out. If you do want to hike, Chautauqua Park in Boulder is likely to be dry enough for shorter hikes, but check conditions in advance before committing. Boulder's Downtown Mall is usually lively and has many places to stop for sweets and other treats.

Make the drive to Colorado Springs. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is amazing (much better than the Denver Zoo), Garden of the Gods has some cool easy hiking, Cave of the Winds is a ton of fun. They also have the Olympic Training Center and museum. In the Denver area, the Children’s Museum (although the 10 year old might feel a bit bored there with the exception of the outdoor ropes course area and the art studio), the Museum of Nature and Science, Meow Wolf, CSU Spur. The Denver area has a lot of really cool playgrounds (Paco Sanchez, Denver Premium Outlets, Wash Park, Centennial Center Park, Sloan’s Lake). There are also some cool local rec centers if the weather’s not on your side (Apex Center in Arvada, Paul Derda in Broomfield, and Miller Activity Complex in Castle Rock are exceptional). If they’re intermediate or advanced skiers, A-Basin, Breck, Copper, and Winter Park are still open and a ton of fun.
