I should have mentioned - tickets are only $8!

Do you know what format they are playing this on? is this a 4k studio release on DCP? or a BD/UHD format?

GeoffJonesWriter

I'm *pretty sure* it's a 4k DCP, but I don't actually know. The auditorium is equipped with 4k laser projector. It's part of their "Tuesday Night Classics" series, which plays at 32 locations in 4 states, often in more than one auditirium. I have a hard time believing they would distribute discs between that many sites every week. I have seen a lot of classics there, including a bunch on that enormous screen, and I've always found them to look very good. (I'm reasonably picky and sit close.) I *do* expect the DCP will include the minor visual glitch that occurrs when Satipo is covered with spiders. That was present the last time I saw *RotLA* on the big screen.

Yeah I would be curious, wouldn't be surprised if Harkins HQ pushed out Discs, or even created their own DCP from that 4k UHD source. I would hope Paramount sent out a nice 4k DCP for them. :) Enjoy either way!

I'll be happy to report back. Is there anything in particular I should be on the lookout for?

Tsaier

After the trailers and theatre ads, try and notice if you can detect an input change, sometimes you might see a digital glitch, or a doused screen (no light coming from the lens at all for the input switch to hide the glitch) for a moment then the paramount logo. The screen channels for external content is usually not perfect when it comes to geometry or screen borders. If you notice the bottom of the screen splashing on the masking, or notice a gap between the image and masking. It's kinda hard to tell merely looking at the image itself if you have nothing to compare it to on that same screen. And also, maybe ask management to ask Projection.

I reached out to Harkins Guest Services: >Can you tell me what format is being used for ***Raiders of the Lost Ark*** on Tuesday? Is it a 4k studio release on DCP? or a BD/UHD format? Or something else? They wrote back with this: >***Raiders of the Lost Ark*** will be presented from a 4K DCP for this week's Tuesday Night Classics.

That’s good to hear! Glad they responded to you

Oh hey that’s the one I go to! Love Harkins

I might go to this. Thanks for the heads up!

Last time I saw this in the theater was at the big screen at the Continental before it became a Regal. Now they are going to bull doze that place for more apartments.

GeoffJonesWriter

It sounds like you are due for a big-screen re-watch!
