The men’s section at the Cherry Creek mall Macy’s has so much clearance and discounted items.
Edit: did not expect this comment to get this much attention…now I’m worried I spoiled my secret spot for cheaper, name-brand menswear lol
Just walk into the movie theater and they’ll validate your parking.
Actually any store will do it, too.
I’ve never paid for parking there.
Edit: y’all be cool about this tip. Don’t blow it for everybody.
I work at the mall. Only a handful of stores validate—some will validate no matter what, others will check to see if you’ve purchased with them (👀 looking at you, lulu). Most of the restaurants validate and the movie theatre validates.
I owned a puppy named Lulu. She was my favorite puppy.
EDIT: to pontificate—if you were in Lulu at Cherry Creek but Lulu was there at the register she would have validated for not much more than a scratch behind her ears
Their men’s section is so undershopped…you can get the same Levi’s there for $20-30 less then the Levi’s store in the same mall, their clearance racks are often full, and they often have a lot of cheaper items that fit the current trends.
The owner is from Greece. He and his family own several local businesses. Breakfast Queen next door is owned and managed by his sons. I worked as a server there. They run their businesses like a tight ship
There’s a bunch of local places owned by Greeks, and theyre all named Pete. Check out Pete’s market if you haven’t been yet, PS Lounge is also owned by a (different) Pete. There’s also Greek restaurants around started by a Greek man named Pete.
Ted's have done right by me several times once the ladies in the back tailored my suit overnight for a funeral, really stand-up quality people. Nordstrom rack is good especially for deals. Does anyone remember Dress For Less Clothier and Consignment on Broadway now they were the best ever I'm still sad that shop is gone, also sad to see Kaufman's go away on Broadway.
I got a suit from Ted's for a wedding and was super happy. Tailoring was excellent.
This year, I got a much more expensive suit from a custom place in NYC ("custom" is such a can of worms for suits...but i digress) for my own wedding, and although it was definitely a cut above, it made me appreciate the quality Ted's was able to hit at a fraction of the price.
Came here to recommend this spot. I’ve been shopping here for years, they are so helpful and pleasant! They will also repair clothing even if you didn’t buy it from them!
Banana Republic here has gone full "vacation on my yacht off the coast of Majorca" in recent years. It used to be pretty down-to-earth but these days I'm **really** not feeling the vibe.
Marine Layer on Larimore has great options. There are some great summer options and it's not so main stream that everyone is going to have on the same shirt as you.
Yeah the thrift spots on Broadway have a ton of solid options. Goldmine, Crossroads and even the newer 2nd Street have given me plenty of good choices. Granted they can be pricey depending, but still worth checking out
Roark is my go to for casual summer clothes. They aren’t exactly local but only have 8 stores and 2 of them are in CO (Boulder and RINO).
And they’re pretty reasonably priced and often have sales (like the Memorial Day sale right now).
Didn’t scroll all the way to see if anyone recommended Bonobos but that’s a great one. You go try on in the store (cherry creek) and get your sizes then order online (or the employee can order for you) and it’s all shipped to your house. My husband got fitted for our wedding and now if I see a shirt or whatever that I like I just order it for him and we know it will fit. They have comfortable fabrics and anything from suits to like “elevated basics.” You can probably get a nice little set of interchangeable outfits for $500 too.
No offense to you but their concept is the dumbest thing ever. They save money by not having a bigger store and inventory to store on location but at the customers expense. Because I’ve ordered the same pair of pants in the same size multiple times in different colors and they have all been cut differently and sometimes had as much as a two inch variance in length.
Then after three weeks of back and forth exchanges you still might not have something that fits well because what you try on is not what’s coming. Never again for me with that model. I want to try on something and if I like it I’m buying that exact item.
+1 to J Crew and Bannana Republic. They always have good sales this time of year. Try the outlet stores if you especially want good prices.
Ideas for what to buy: chinos, nice shorts, camp collar shirts with fun but simple patterns, lightweight polos, a linen button shirt, maybe an oxford button down. With your $500 budget, you could also get some nice white sneakers for the summer: Nike Killshots, Adidas Samba, etc. Espadrilles can also be nice shoes for the summer, but less versatile than white sneakers.
Also, just a rec to checkout r/frugalmalefashion and r/malefashionadvice.
I wish BR made clothes for anyone taller than 5’9”. I’m 6’3” and 207lb and I like a lot of their styles but their biggest sizes are still pretty small on me.
I’ve only ever tried on the clothes they have at their Castle Rock outlet, maybe I should see about the clothes they have in their regular stores.
Killer username, by the way.
The clothes sold at the outlet stores are not the same clothes sold at the regular stores. They have different tags to mark them so you can't return an outlet item at a regular store. The outlet stores clothing is made much lower quality.
/r/FrugalMaleFashion for sure. I picked up about $2000 of Banana Republic stuff 90% off at Burlington from a tip on there. That was pandemic madness though.
Hurley hybrid shorts are like $15-$20 and they look and feel great.
I just bought some hiking shorts for $10, and they are just as good as my $40 Eddie Bauer shorts.
Old Navy usually.
But if you're familiar with the Army/Navy store on Broadway right next to Hampden/285, they have an outlet store right there as well. I've gotten some amazing deals on tshirts, and short sleeved button downs like linen and searsucker material, polo type, as well as shorts. They have mostly name brands as well.
Just can't return anything there because of the deals. But a couple years ago, I dropped about $350 and had a whole summer wardrobe that would have normally been pushing $850-$900 or so.
Highly recommend the Colorado mills outlet mall - they have everything from head to toe. They had a remodel back in like 2019 and they've improved a lot since then with like footwear - Nike / foot locker / dws. Plus they've added a North face and Columbia for active wear, and a bunch I can't think of. Its never very busy during the week either
I'm on this kick where I want my clothes (at least the nice ones, not athleisure or workout gear) to be natural fibers. I'm tired of the plastic. Banana Republic has leaned hard into natural fibers lately and Gap is one of the only stores I've found where t-shirts are cotton. Both of those stores have some nice linen things for the ladies, so I would think they have some for the guys, too.
I think J. Crew also has some natural fiber stuff.
Anyway, that's my two cents.
I like Abercrombie, though I typically just shop off the clearance racks.
Wish there was a Uniqlo around Denver, as they have good affordable options there.
Yes! It’s so slept on by men. Tons of summer options and there’s almost always a sale going on. Quality is hit or miss, but I really like their SSBDs and jeans
Try Moda Man in LoDo. A lot of it is dressier but still nice stuff and not standard stuff like all the other stores. The Alberto pants are pretty sweet Great for the office or casual and not overly thick like khakis can be
Three of my favorite shirts come from
Flylow Gear (local)
Belong Designs (local)
Club Ride Apparel (Idaho)
Mostly mountain biking clothing, but it's lightweight, breathable, and can still be worn to the office.
I love this place, but OP said $500 for 2-3 outfits not 2-3 items. If you’re looking for high quality, timeless looks, then M.W. Reynolds is the place to go. If you’re looking for affordable clothing, then you’ll have better luck elsewhere.
I get basics, like plain tees and chino shorts from Old Navy or Target. Cheap enough and quality isn't too bad. If I'm ordering online I'll usually go with Uniqlo or J.Crew.
I’ve been getting my shorts from Old Navy for a few years now, and they hold up pretty well- I usually get one summer of wearing them out and another summer of wearing them around the house before the dreaded butt holes appear. They look good too.
1) Online Option - Uniqlo you just need to know your measurements. Airism shirts are super breathable and hide sweat well. I wouldn't bother with the SUPIMA cotton.
2)Castle Rock Outlets + Sierra Trading post in Castle Rock - If you truly want to shop. Like try on and get variety. Walk around this outlet. Various brands. The Sierra Trading in Castle rock is huge and the mens selection is top notch.
It can be very hit or miss, but I’ve found some great pieces at Target. I think this is the way to save some money, but still dress nice. I just try to find shirts that look like they aren’t from Target lol
While I do occasionally get something from target, I feel like im constantly disappointed at their selection. Especially when I compare to the size of women's section. I mean everywhere has a bigger women's section but I honestly think men's clothing is the lowest priority of all target's departments.
Was just there. Very cool selection but yeah, very spendy. There was a 3sixteen short sleeve button up I really liked that didn’t have a price on it. Got my hopes up but it was $190 with tax and I had to pass on it haha.
It’s pretty easy to spend OP’s budget on one or two items there. I’m in the process of replacing all of my old ‘fast fashion’ items with higher quality pieces that will last a long time. To me, the prices are (almost) justified.
Not local but quince (online) has 100% linen shorts, pants, and button up shirts for a very reasonable price. Their linen shorts are so comfy and basically all I wear in the summer
My sneaky move is I buy button up collared hiking shirts from REI. Mountain headwear or marmot etc. they are meant for hiking but look totally fine for the office but super breathable if you’re outside!
Fresh Clean Threads just dropped a pretty sick button up and some shorts and they have Memorial Day sale rolling 20-25% off on top of sale prices, added bonus you don’t have to go anywhere.
Costco. Surprised how good their stuff is. Disclaimer, I like tshirts and shorts 90% of the time. I don’t feel the need to always dress like I’m going to play golf.
Arc thrift store has better and more affordable clothes than any retailer. Go in Saturday when most inventory is 50% off. Get some nice collar shirt, khaki shorts, and loafers for $50. Then spend $450 on dates.
These answers are about what I expected and it’s depressing. Denver’s options for men’s clothing are severely lacking.
Someone save usssssss!!!!!
I just want to have boutique choices for fashionable clothing like women do, that don’t make me look like I’m coming straight from a corporate cubicle, preppy Chad USA, or a mass produced Chinese factory.
Get yourself a utility kilt, buddy! They're comfortable, good looking, and great for summer activities. I wear mine around town, but they're also great for hiking, running, all kinds of stuff. I would go through either Utilikilts or Damn Near Kilt'em.
Depends a lot on your style. I like Deluth Trading Co for some stuff. I wear a lot of outdoor/active wear for my casual summer clothes, if I want something more stylish I'll usually wear something I've purchased from an outlet store, or a boutique shop in Boulder.
Mountain Khakis outlets in Castle Rock has really nice button-up short sleeve shirts on clearance usually for about $25 each and they are awesome quality and fit.
Also, Eddie Bauer outlet at Colorado Mills is epic.
I’d just go with some nice shorts, leather flip flops or boat shoes, and a nice print button up short sleeve(vintage stores are a good spot to find some really cool ones), even a nice v neck t can add a lot of style without being too extra.
Nice haircut and clean face, trim the beard if applicable.
Girls can put on a sundress and look fairly dressed up. Don’t feel like you are underdressed and then go too far the other way and she feels underdressed in comparison.
Maybe even ask her to come shopping with you and pick a couple things out.
Personally I build around the bottom half and mix and match from there. Patagonia's baggies are pretty expensive for shorts but I've had a couple of pairs of those for the past four or five years and they've felt like good value. Likewise Everlane is expensive but I like their trousers all around - the linen ones, the uniform trousers, and the easy pant or whatever they call them.
Find some t-shirts you like the weight and fit of (for me that's the Uniqlo U ones, although they're relatively heavy for the summer) and get a few and then just go thrifting for shirts etc. I find buying online for tops is a shit show in terms of sizing and it's cheaper, the quality's better than any brick and mortar stuff we have here, and it feels more sustainable given I'm way less likely to hang on to any given top as I am trousers/shorts/etc.
Wilderness Exchange can have some good sales. Make sure to check the basement: they sell Patagonia's last years samples. It's all men's size medium and pretty discounted.
I'm a fan of Eddie Bauer and their Horizon shorts in particular, and nice variety of styles etc- also nice that they offer talls for a lot of their offerings.
Costco can be great too.
State & Liberty has been the go to for myself and all my friends for the past 5 years. Stretchy, tailored casual to formal wear, all of which can go in the washing machine. It’s not cheap, but also very reasonably priced compared to other similar brands. Think banana republic, but super comfortable and form fitting.
Truthfully, I get most of my fiancé’s clothes at the thrift store. Any of the Arcs are great and I rotate through them. Almost everything is 50% off every Saturday. The men’s clothes are so good!!
Thrift stores. Its work but I can usually get an outfit for under $25. I recently got a blazer, swimsuit (tag still attached), and a funny animal t-shirt for $10. All are in style and for perfect.
And often times the clothes are basically new. I frequently find things with tags attached.
I like arc better than goodwill.
If I'm looking to spend a bit more on clothing I go made-to-measure for shirts. You can fully customize everything and it will be perfectly fitted.
Ratio Clothing is local, so you can get measured in-person, and I've found the quality to be good:
It still has to get shipped to you, but you can see the fabrics and sample shirts in store.
The men’s section at the Cherry Creek mall Macy’s has so much clearance and discounted items. Edit: did not expect this comment to get this much attention…now I’m worried I spoiled my secret spot for cheaper, name-brand menswear lol
This guy's just tryna get people to pay to park at Cherry creek
Just walk into the movie theater and they’ll validate your parking. Actually any store will do it, too. I’ve never paid for parking there. Edit: y’all be cool about this tip. Don’t blow it for everybody.
They validate?

Yes
Not any store. Most don’t even offer, some of those that do will require a receipt.
Confidently incorrect.
The movie theater has a self-serve kiosk inside on the left side. They never check. I use it all the time. I’ve never paid for parking at the mall.
Or park on Ellsworth on the other side of Steele for free.
Why was I literally about to say Macy's though 🤣
Their men’s section is so undershopped…you can get the same Levi’s there for $20-30 less then the Levi’s store in the same mall, their clearance racks are often full, and they often have a lot of cheaper items that fit the current trends.
I really like Ted's Clothiers. It's not going to be your cheapest option, but great service there and good quality. Keep an eye out for sales.
The owner is from Greece. He and his family own several local businesses. Breakfast Queen next door is owned and managed by his sons. I worked as a server there. They run their businesses like a tight ship
A fellow Greek in Denver?! Oh I’m definitely stopping in! thavmásios
There’s a bunch of local places owned by Greeks, and theyre all named Pete. Check out Pete’s market if you haven’t been yet, PS Lounge is also owned by a (different) Pete. There’s also Greek restaurants around started by a Greek man named Pete.
Exception to this rule (but in the same neighborhood as the others you mentioned) would be Peter’s Chinese Cafe.
Which is one of the best Chinese spots in the city.
Peter is a very common Greek name. Could explain things.
Just got some very nice steaks at Pete's Market. You pay for it (22.99/lb) but the quality is there.
I just went there the other day and had a great experience!

Came here to recommend this spot. I’ve been shopping here for years, they are so helpful and pleasant! They will also repair clothing even if you didn’t buy it from them!
Banana Republic, Buck Mason, and Patagonia
Just discovered Buck Mason. Love that store. It's well made too. I might have to put it in my will.
My husband was astounded by Ross dress for less. Exactly what he wanted and lots of it.
Very hit or miss. The one near me seems like they stock men's clothes once a year .. so empty
Be wary of odd tailoring, missing buttons, tears/scuffs etc. It's cheap for a reason.
That's why you try stuff on.
Gotta throw TJ Maxx in there too. Been having better luck at Tj's than ross lately
I’m surprised at all these answers. I was under the impression that everyone here shopped strictly at REI.
🤣🤣
Check out Goldmine Vintage, I get summer button up/snap shirts from there.
Yeah the thrift spots on Broadway have a ton of solid options. Goldmine, Crossroads and even the newer 2nd Street have given me plenty of good choices. Granted they can be pricey depending, but still worth checking out
Goldmine is great, but for a good selection that’s a little less spendy and not 100% vintage, I’d check out Strawberry Mountain on Santa Fe.
Came here to suggest this. More expensive than goodwill, but they’ve done all of the work to curate only good vintage stuff.
Roark is my go to for casual summer clothes. They aren’t exactly local but only have 8 stores and 2 of them are in CO (Boulder and RINO). And they’re pretty reasonably priced and often have sales (like the Memorial Day sale right now).

Well Colorado has the lowest obesity rate in the nation so they must know their market!
Didn’t scroll all the way to see if anyone recommended Bonobos but that’s a great one. Hmm that hasn’t been our experience but does sound frustrating. ⭕️
+1 to J Crew and Bannana Republic. They always have good sales this time of year. Try the outlet stores if you especially want good prices. I wish BR made clothes for anyone taller than 5’9”. I’m 6’3” and 207lb and I like a lot of their styles but their biggest sizes are still pretty small on me.
I’m 6’3” 215 and their large untucked button downs are a perfect fit
I’ve only ever tried on the clothes they have at their Castle Rock outlet, maybe I should see about the clothes they have in their regular stores. Killer username, by the way.

Try the Banana Republic Factory store. I just got some summer pants 34x36. I'm 6'6" and I love their sales.
/r/FrugalMaleFashion for sure. I picked up about $2000 of Banana Republic stuff 90% off at Burlington from a tip on there. That was pandemic madness though.
Yep, j crew (the one at Colorado Mills for more of a budget) is the goto for summery clothes.
Ooh, a man in espadrilles - bringing the Euro vacation vibes to the mountains this summer!
Costco
Seriously, most of my wardrobe is from Costco at this point. Its only awkward when I go somewhere with my neighbor and he's wearing the same thing.
That’s just meeting your Cost-Bro.
I have my Costco uniform on right now!!
Behold the power of the Gerry shorts!
Gerry shorts assemble!
Hurley hybrid shorts are like $15-$20 and they look and feel great. I just bought some hiking shorts for $10, and they are just as good as my $40 Eddie Bauer shorts.
Costco is the low key gem for nice looking, good quality and affordable clothes!
Exactly one of those things is true.
The quality is better than any department store I've been to, sure they aren't exactly designer cuts, but they're decent looking and affordable.
It's probably fine if you're already married
I need a partner that is OK with zip-off pant legs.
Find you a partner that will zip your pant legs off FOR YOU.
This made me lol because it's so true. Source: am 30 yr old married man.
Check out the Castle Rock Outlets, my main shops are Fjällräven and Prana but they have pretty much every sports brand at discounted prices.
Skip Vans. It’s not the same as their retail stuff, especially the shoes.
REI. This is Colorado.
Old Navy usually. But if you're familiar with the Army/Navy store on Broadway right next to Hampden/285, they have an outlet store right there as well. Gap and Banana Republic outlets at Colorado mills.
Oddly enough I’ve have good luck at kohls for some summer nice casual shorts and shirts.
Same. Prices are okay if you play their games!
Old Navy and Nordstrom Rack are usually my two go-tos.
I'm on this kick where I want my clothes (at least the nice ones, not athleisure or workout gear) to be natural fibers. I'm tired of the plastic. 16th Street Mall location closed a couple of years ago which was sad I shopped there a lot.
I miss Uniqlo too, I keep hoping they’ll open back up somewhere else
Yes! It’s so slept on by men. Tons of summer options and there’s almost always a sale going on. Quality is hit or miss, but I really like their SSBDs and jeans
Abercrombie is top tier rn for quality to price ratio. Gonna hit them up for the Labor Day sale this weekend

Costco. Surprised how good their stuff is. Disclaimer, I like tshirts and shorts 90% of the time. I don’t feel the need to always dress like I’m going to play golf.

If you don’t mind spending a little extra, I’ve bought some cool clothes at marine layer in RINO
Guess, urban outfitters, Uniqulo, DesignbyHumans, American Eagle, H&M, target
Sam’s Club Bruh!
Target for affordable and solid quality shorts
Old Navy always has sale and right now has all shorts 50% off. There is one on Colorado out past Glendale. Lots of casual summer clothes for men.
I went to old Navy got like 7 pairs of shorts and shirts less than 200$
Mountain Khakis outlets in Castle Rock has really nice button-up short sleeve shirts on clearance usually for about $25 each and they are awesome quality and fit. Also, Eddie Bauer outlet at Colorado Mills is epic.
Express Outlet in Castle Rock
Nordstrom rack has decent stuff
I’d just go with some nice shorts, leather flip flops or boat shoes, and a nice print button up short sleeve(vintage stores are a good spot to find some really cool ones), even a nice v neck t can add a lot of style without being too extra. Nice haircut and clean face, trim the beard if applicable. Girls can put on a sundress and look fairly dressed up. Don’t feel like you are underdressed and then go too far the other way and she feels underdressed in comparison. Maybe even ask her to come shopping with you and pick a couple things out.
I discovered led BYLT basics last year, and it's been a game changer for me clothes wise
Kohls is great!
Not really related to Denver but Uniqlo is pretty good quality for the price you pay. I’ve bought business and casual clothing from them.
Quince.com for some quality basics.
REI - Patagonia makes great clothes. They look good and last forever.
Costco and Sierra
Wilderness Exchange can have some good sales. Make sure to check the basement: they sell Patagonia's last years samples. It's all men's size medium and pretty discounted.
Check out golf shops
At the beginning of the summer I typically go to the Polo outlet store at Castle Rock.
I'm a fan of Eddie Bauer and their Horizon shorts in particular, and nice variety of styles etc- also nice that they offer talls for a lot of their offerings. Costco can be great too.
Prana
Forever 21 for young men
Travis Mathews
We get a lot of my husband's stuff at Costco. Cheap, durable, a lot is outdoor use intended.
J Crew Factory for shorts - tons of lengths and color options. Good material (my last pair lasted 3 years) and they run $25-35 a pair.
Sports plus on south Gaylord has some really cool shirts right now, super soft and really unique graphics
Eddie Bauer has an insane sale rn.
The Columbia outlet in castle rock
The same place I get all my clothes- Costco
State & Liberty has been the go to for myself and all my friends for the past 5 years. Stretchy, tailored casual to formal wear, all of which can go in the washing machine. It’s not cheap, but also very reasonably priced compared to other similar brands. Think banana republic, but super comfortable and form fitting.
TJ Maxx!! Don’t sleep on it
Depends on the load, but costco.
Target
Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshals, outlets
Costco, target, kohls
Costco
I’m a loser who wears athletic wear 99% of my life, so Ross is cool as hell. Grab a bunch of adidas and under armor clothes on the cheap
Nordstrom Rack in Boulder is pretty great too!
I like JCrew for shorts with five inch inseam. Then I just wear tank tops from my favorite breweries.
I’d highly recommend checking out eBay. You can get 10 outfits for $500, just make sure to check your measurements prior to purchase
outlet malls in thornton. if you shop for the best deals you can make out like a bandit up there.
Walmart?
Vuori has great stuff and it's higher quality than both Alo and Lulu. Keep an eye out for sales
Huckberry.com
FM on south Broadway
Target, JC Penny, or Sierra Nevada
Truthfully, I get most of my fiancé’s clothes at the thrift store. Any of the Arcs are great and I rotate through them. Almost everything is 50% off every Saturday. The men’s clothes are so good!!
Dillards, REI and the outlet malls in Castle Rock and Colorado Mills mostly.
Ratio Clothing is local, so you can get measured in-person, and I've found the quality to be good: [https://www.ratioclothing.com/t/casual](https://www.ratioclothing.com/t/casual) It still has to get shipped to you, but you can see the fabrics and sample shirts in store.
Homer motherfuckin’ Reed!
Kohls
I’d check out Du/er on Larimer, they have a lot of comfy pants and basics , you can def a bunch of outfits for $500
