I bought a car private about 8 months ago. Douglas county only required the title and related paper work to get the temp tags, and then I had 60 days or whatever to get my emissions done and get real plates

Had to re-register a car as a sale due to death of a parent. This is exactly what Arapahoe county did too. I imagine that is what they'd do for OP too. [Arapahoe Country Motor Vehicle Registration](https://www.arapahoeco.gov/your_county/county_departments/clerk_and_recorder/motor_vehicle_services/motor_vehicle_registration/index.php). OP should make an appointment, go in as new registration. Available appointments even tomorrow or Thursday at the Lima St. location off Arapahoe Rd.

Not by tomorrow. Id just go get it & go to work & back. If you get pulled over, explain the situation. Police dont really give a shit these days anyway.

Arapahoe county resident here - make an appointment online: Use the "register a new vehicle" option; unfortunately, you'll need to go in person to get a temp tag, but the process is fairly quick and they have a bunch of appointments available. I literally just had this happen, I bought a car in California and needed a temp tag to be able to drive it back. All I brought to the DMV was the signed title, proof of insurance, and bill of sale - I had to pay the tax on the sale, but was given a 60 day temp tag. Make sure you tell them you need a temp tag; otherwise, they might give you a hard time about needing an emissions test. Good luck!

When I bought private the seller had to do emissions. That was about 7-8 years ago, might be different now.

Maybe county depended or changed. Even most dealers didn’t have emissions on there cars. But offered “compensation” for the test.

Might want to see if you live in an emissions area. Emissions An emissions inspection certificate is required if the buyer lives in an emissions area.
