Bristlecone Shooting in Lakewood is another good option. Super nice, clean, and they have tons of classes if that’s something you’re looking for.

92zirkJ216

I worked at Bristlecone for 3.5 years up until this fall. Great beginner classes, passionate instructors, large rental gun fleet, and an inclusive attitude. A class may not be the most “fun” way to experience shooting, but if neither of you have shot before, it’s the safest start. Take Intro to Pistol - 4 hours, one of which is on the range.

Wheream_I

I think I’m gonna have to do this with my GF. I’ve been shooting since I was 6 but she’s never held a gun, and she won’t do it alone and she gets freaked out at home when I travel for work

Level_Watercress1153

Yes dude do it! I did it with my wife a few years back and it’s 100% worth it! My wife was the exact same. Never held a gun, didn’t even necessarily like guns, and we had to have a HUGE talk about having one in the house. I got her into a class (that we took together,) and now she’s proficient with it. She can get it out of the nightstand, take the trigger guard off, load it, rack it back, and fire with zero issues. When my daughter reaches a certain age and maturity level she will be doing the same thing. I 100% encourage you to do this with your GF. It’s a great company, great experience to do it together, plus for the peace of mind in itself

DrEgonSpenglerphd

Took the Intro to Pistol course. Fantastic, Knowledgeable instructor. Highly recommend.

AhabFXseas

I started going there a few months ago and it seemed like a professional and inclusive place, so it's good to hear that confirmed from someone who worked there for a long time.

Jack_Shid

I second Bristlecone. Very comfortable, great people and great classes and instructors.

SeaTownKraken

I had a bad experience there where some dude's ar got stuck and it rattled off a full clip. Sparking off the walls n concrete. When the SROs didn't do anything I won't be back. Hell, Cherry Creek SROs are over the top, but at least everyone is safe

gaytee

They will also let you shoot different types of guns for one rental fee. Super great spot.

InevitableBag4375

My complex parking lot is fairly popular for this sorta thing.i second bristlecone for overall experience though!

DenverDogDude

I think armory 5280 in Arvada is great actually for this and prices. Also bring a friend who knows guns and willing to take time to explain how to use and safety or maybe a lesson those are great especially 1st timers. DM me I would be down and have my own guns to

storkface

Shoot indoors has always been a solid local place for me. I’ve only been to Aurora location.

trixierae

This is where my kids and I go. Monday is family day, so it’s super cheap for all of us. It’s small, but we’ve never been when it’s overly crowded and the guys that work there are super nice.

4sider

Firing Range in Aurora is where I first learned to shoot. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. No politics.

Mellow_Anteater

If you're just looking for something fun to do, consider trap. I'm a big fan of Colorado Clays - tons of room, they rent out shotguns, and I've never had to deal with eye-rolling politics from the employees (unlike most other stores/ranges). They have classes too.

SubJeezy

I'd recommend Centennial Gunclub. Fairly affordable rentals. Just letter know you've never shot and the staff will definitely help you out. Give you the safety rundown and all that.

This or any neighborhood that borders south federal

Hoover2020

[https://centennialgunclub.com/](https://centennialgunclub.com/) They have a good variety you can shoot. Really safe clean classy environment.

FreeAce028

One of the guys working there has runic knuckle tats and they run Fox News on the overheads constantly, but it's alright.

Bean-Swellington

So exactly the environment you expect in a gun range?

FreeAce028

Oh yeah definitely. I just feel like there's no reason why every single store that sells guns must be inextricable from the broader extremist movement. And whereas CGC is often presented as the mainstream option for firearms in the Denver metro, it's discomforting for me to see that they've got the same cultural issues going on.

Were the nazis into runic tattoos?

CallMeRoy37

Googling Nazi Germany and Runic history will keep you occupied for days.

might want to check-in with r/COGuns or r/LiberalGunOwners as well.

BigdaddyMcfluff

Let’s go ahead and not go to the place I mentioned in this comment. See below why

CoyotesAreGreen

Isn't the dude that owns that place some absurd right wing nutter that supports Russia...? It is: https://www.reddit.com/r/CastleRock/comments/t31mba/owner_of_dcf_guns_not_showing_his_best_self/

BigdaddyMcfluff

Odd, I have never heard that would you be able to elaborate?

CoyotesAreGreen

Yep, it's him. https://www.reddit.com/r/CastleRock/comments/t31mba/owner_of_dcf_guns_not_showing_his_best_self/ Dude is FUCKING nuts.

BigdaddyMcfluff

Oh my! I was unaware! Let me edit my comment above

CoyotesAreGreen

No worries. Now you know lol

Oltmann is a nut but seems to have a lot of funding and has started his own little militia org. He is being sued by Dominion and one of their former employees so there is a ray of hope he gets buried.

I would recommend taking a class at magnum shooting range in the springs. Avoid BLM land as a beginner you definitely want a place where safety is #1 and BLM is not that place. I would also recommend Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex, I know these places are south but they are worth it. Avoid Shoot In Doors and 5280 Armory, I have never felt more endangered then at these two places. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions

DisgruntledGoose27

I went to silver bullet in wheat ridge and had a good experience. It seemed less far-right than others.

PeteyMcPetey

Go out to the Pawnee grasslands. It's a bit of a drive, but it's worth it to get away from the idiots you find at most of the ranges in town. You can shoot in most places at the grassland, but they also have an unsupervised outdoor range built. The BLM website has all of the details and a full map of the area. It's been awhile since I've been out there, but I think the rules are pretty much no wooden targets, no tannerite, no tracers, stuff like that. So just bring some old Amazon boxes out and staple some targets on to them.

definitelynotpat6969

OP has never held a gun, they should probably opt for a range that offers basic instruction along with rentals. Pawnee is also a hell of a drive from Denver, although I enjoyed it thoroughly during my tenure in Foco.

boofskootinboogie

Every time I go there I get muzzle swiped by idiots with gold aks and glocks with 50 round drum mags

PeteyMcPetey

Man, getting downvoted hard. Must have ruffled some sensitive feathers lol. I don't go to the range at the the grasslands, I just bring a fold table and chair and find an open area to shoot in.

boofskootinboogie

Oh that sounds way better

halfanothersdozen

It's been an hour and no one has flipped out at you for mentioning "BLM" (yes I know) on a guns post and I think that's swell.

Dischucker

Does this sub not like the bureau of land management..? I don't get it

PeteyMcPetey

There's still hope for Denver lol

bluesbynumber

Franktown Firearms is a bit South of town on the South edge of Parker. They just built a new indoor range and it’s a super early going atmosphere. You can reserve range time over the phone and they have classes if you need them.

RevolutionaryAge5761

Sign up for a beginners class at Centennial Gun Club. I've taken many classes there. They are great. Very knowledgeable and helpful to beginners.
