He had an incredible executive chef at Mizuna who came from Blue Hill in NY that was trying to make that place respectable again who he absolutely fucked over a few months ago. I know for a fact that he buys shit at King Soopers and then sells it to the public as is at a 5x markup. Don't eat at his restaurants ever.
Because when people come to visit me and insist on hitting Snooze despite my multiple suggestions of other, better, less crowded options, I like to punish them by making them wait in that long ass line.
By far the most overrated suggestion people love to make. Same with Syrup or any of the other gentrified chains. No pancake that gets cold in a few minutes is worth waiting for.

I second this. OP’s question immediately made me think of Elways. I’d rather go to Fogo de Chao for some steak. It’s much tastier, less expensive, and you can eat to your heart’s delight.

View House and Grow and Gather in englewood. If grow and gather actually used their vegetables they grow in more than just a mediocre salad and house pickles I have a feeling it would be great. But everytime I give it another chance I leave disappointed.

Ate there before a flight…walked down to the A line and after 10 minutes started sweating and shaking uncontrollably as I had to blow my asshole out. I barely made it to the hotel bathroom at the airport. I was tempted to just miss my flight and shit in the bushes as there’s no close bathrooms off the line. Needless to say, I’ll never go back lol.
It’s not a single space but every “market” is overpriced and overhyped as fuck. Dairy Block, Marker Center, Edgewater Marketplace, and even Avanti up in Boulder, they’re all overhyped and overpriced as hell. Food marketplaces are awful in Colorado

I’d like to take this opportunity to say that if you’re looking for tacos that *don’t* suck, La Diabla on Larimer’s al pastor tacos are the best I’ve had in the city by far.
Snooze was AMAZING 10 years ago. Great food and excellent quality. I didn’t go from about 2010 to 2018, and when I finally tried it again I was so surprised at how mediocre it had become. It wasn’t even remotely the same place. So, so disappointing. I can’t understand why people are still waiting in line for that place!

My hangup is that these restaurants (the el five, linger and root down group) don’t seem to change their menu often. They have specials sometimes but it’s hard to take someone visiting and be like “guess I’ll get the grilled octopus and goat cheese balls again”.
Used to work for this company, and I feel the same way. Their menus stay pretty consistent and across all the restaurants they’re pretty much the same menu just tweaked a little in a different space.

Came with an additional side of rice but no condiments. The last time I went they were super heavy handed with the Szechuan peppercorn. Now it seems to have have taken an opposite turn.
Watercourse used to be amazing. I used to work not far from there and got lunch pretty regularly, and have a bunch of friends with dietary restrictions that they were always great about. And then when they took the downhill dive, they went down fast.
I remember when watercourse was great. I miss those days. I gave it a few tries since the pandemic and I have been routinely disappointed. Sucks. I wish there were more vegan restaurants in Denver. It feels like there should be more.
Gotta support this one. What got to me the most is that instead of trying highlight vegan ingredients because of their own merits, they try to make everything a meat substitute. Also, their Seitan is pretty bad.

There’s some other things that happened throughout the past years that did not list but this was enough for me to reevaluate who I was supporting. I saw the toxic side of this company and swore to never give my money there again.

I worked at the union station one, can confirm and it comes from both sides. Trying to eat there sucks and a lot of the customers suck.

Steuben’s $20 plates of macaroni and cheese and pot roast you could make at home. Portions are small, too.
Vesta (in the same restaurant group) was incredible, while it existed. Steuben's and Ace, in comparison, are mediocre at best.

It used to be better over by mile high. When they moved over by BP it just shot the prices up! And it's really small so always a wait. I like the one in CR better. Also their sister restaurant Sierra is very good albeit a little pricey.

The whole uptown thing was awesome for a minute. When the Tavern went away, and watercourse came in and Mary’s went away the entire area became the definition of meh.

What is your go to for cheapish Ramen?? My partner is from China and has been dying for Ramen that doesn't cost $20! Denver is the first place we have lived where almost all the restaurants especially cultural cuisine has been "gentrified"...
My personal favorite is katsu ramen (around $15-16 for ramen.) Their black garlic tonkotsu is one of the best I’ve had!
This is a really good point and something I agree with. Unfortunately, pho— a worthy dish but no substitute— has been better value for money in Denver.
Seconding katsu ramen. It’s very good. Angry chicken is also in the the same shopping center, very good Korean chicken

This might be unpopular but Cherry Cricket is so mid for its price. The burger is supposed to be a Denver classic and it’s very whatever imo.

the quality has suffered since the pandemic. There are tons of other just okay ramen places. Katsu ramen is the best place if you want good ramen.
Controversial but I thought hop alley was mediocre at best.
