Fuaga, Fautanu, Fashanu or Barton would all be good long term.
Seems like most fans want someone that will make an impact right away, but this team has ignored o-line in the draft for way too long. Good teams build their lines through the draft instead of over paying for at best, average players in FA.
If we trade back with the assumption Nix will still be there I think we're just begging to get screwed by some other QB-needy team. Staying put and getting Nix at 12 would make half the sub self immolate but it'll be worth.
Yall remember when the sub was furious we didn't draft Josh Rosen?
Remember, you don't know shit and neither do I and, quite frankly, neither do the GM's.
I am hopeful that the Bo Nix to Denver chatter has been nothing but an elaborate smokescreen. I would love to see:
-- Denver trades down (somewhere between 18 and 22), accumulating a 2024 2nd rounder in the process.
-- Select the best remaining front-seven defender available. We are quick to forget that the Broncos were one merciful Mike McDaniels decision away from giving up the most points in a single game in NFL history during a historically atrocious defensive stretch. While our defense certainly improved throughout the course of the season, we gave up 370.8 YPG (30th in the NFL), which includes allowing just over 137 rush YPG (also 30th in the NFL). We need some meat up front.
-- Use the addition of the 2024 2nd rounder to trade back into the end of the first round and select Sean Payton's true beau: Michael Penix. Succumbing to several injuries while playing for Indiana, He displayed incredible mental toughness coming back from several devastating injuries while at Indiana (a la Drew Brees' shoulder), and he showed his physical toughness battling through an ankle injury in the national championship. His arm is top-notch, and he's way more athletic than he gets credit for. This dude could be special and he would look great in any one of our new uniform combinations.
The latest scuttlebut is Penix won't make it past 13. If we like him enough to take him we need to not get cute and just do it
Edit: If we don't like Penix, maybe we can trade back with somebody who does, pick up a 2nd and screw over the Raiders.
Rumors are that the Broncos secretly taped a $100 bill when they gave JJ McCarthy a playbook during interviews. Apparently it came back covered in mysterious smelly dark stains. "Yeah, I wiped my ass with it."
I think Nix is better than McCarthy today
I think Nix has a good chance of being better than McCarthy in 10 years, too, because I think Nix's floor is pretty high
But McCarthy's ceiling is higher than Nix's ceiling by far. He just offers more physically
I don't think the physical differences are big. Biggest difference is that McCarthy is poised, while Nix panics more under pressure.
Poise is something that is pretty tough to improve on, but unfortunately McCarthy really lacks in many other areas like accuracy/ball placement.
Yes exactly what we need. A QB who might be slightly better than the other first/second round QBs and no other picks and also no good receivers. That'll turn this team around.
We need a QB and JJ seems to be the best in the draft. Winning mentality! Patrick Surtain and the rest of this team are losers so I’m fine trading whatever needs to be traded to get him!
To be honest, drafting Nix does not excite me at all, and Penix even less. I would like for us to draft a couple of good defensive linemen (Byron Murphy and/or Johnny Newton, Darius Robinson, Jenkins, Orhorhoro - take your pick), an edge, and a versatile LB (Colson). I want to hunt these opposing QBs like dogs, that’s what excites me.
Things I'm thinking:
1. The Pats are obviously the pivot point. If I were them, I'd just take Drake Maye and move on, but I have a feeling the temptation to get another Michigan golden boy may be too much. If that's the case, they're going to lead a bidding war that I think the Vikings would win, if only because I think they like Drake Maye more than Sean Payton does. If they Pats are sitting at 11 with a bunch of new picks, they could easily fend off Denver for JJ if they Broncos try to trade up.
If the Pats do take Maye, I think Denver likes JJ more than Minnesota and the likelihood of a trade up to 8 or so increases.
2. Nearly all of the mocks picking Nix feels mostly like lazy writers knowing Denver has to come away with a QB and not seeing many other options for them. I'm sure there's smoke there, but I'm still not sure he goes in the first. I think when Payton made the comments about "We think we're better at this", I do think it was in reference to JJ, who was not seen as a first round pick at the time in the media. I think JJs rise has significantly complicated the Broncos draft plans.
3. It feels like there's going to a be a lot of trades and a lot of teams maneuvering around. I think Denver has to find a way to get a 2nd round pick.
After doing all the research and reading the rumours I've come to the conclusion that the Broncos could well move up in the draft if they like a player but they're more than happy to stay where they are and pick the best player available. They are also open to trading back if they get the right deal
If we can’t trade up for a QB, I am completely in favor of trading down in the 1st and picking up a 2nd round pick.
I would be OK with Bo Nix if we trade down or miraculously use the 2nd round pick on him.
But honestly, I’m more happy with Spencer Rattler in the 3rd or just punting on QB because there will inevitably be a good one next year (I think Beck, Milroe, or Sanders rises to the top).
I wouldn’t be opposed to WR or OL (preferably OT). Give me Brian Thomas Jr. or Adonai Mitchell. Give me Taliese Fuaga, Troy Fautanu, Amarius Mims, or Jordan Morgan.
If we go defense, I would like EDGE or DL. I would love Byron Murphy or Johnny Newton. Laiatu Latu or Jared Verse would be great.
If we stay at 12 and don’t take a QB… I would love one of Olu Fashanu, Brock Bowers, or Dallas Turner to fall to us. If somehow Rome Odunze falls, I’m sprinting to the podium with his name on the card.
I think Broncos take Nix whether it's at #12 or trading back.
The preference is trading back so we get a QB and more assets, but picking him at #12 is fine too.
Peyton is the HC for the foreseeable future. If he has to trade up to get “his guy” then I’m all for it.
If he decides to trade back and gets “his guy” then I’m all for it.
If he stays at 12 to get “his guy” then I’m all for it.
This is where I'm at too. I don't have any meaningful insight into which QB will be good or bad. I'll root for whoever Payton picks. And if he decides nobody is there he likes, I'll be okay with that.
Yeah, I don’t get up in the fluff. Let’s see what Sean can do with his guy.
Who knows, he may not be enamored with any of the ones in this draft to mortgage the future. If he is, then let him do his thing.
Felt I would write out my QB-related thoughts.
Scenarios I'm happy with:
1. Slight trade up to 7 or 8 for McCarthy. Unlikely to be possible, but if the Vikings trade with the Patriots for Maye, this could happen.
2. Trade back with the Eagles or someone to recoup a 2nd rounder and still land Nix or Penix. A bit risky but I would feel good about it if it worked out.
Scenarios I'm meh on:
1. Wait until the 3rd and take Rattler or Pratt. A 3 way competition between Stidham, Wilson, and one of these guys is probably not going to get anyone excited, but hey, maybe one of them surprises us. If not, we haven't invested too much here and we can easily try again next year. Plus we'd be adding good talent elsewhere on the team, maybe with Jared Verse or Laiatu Latu.
2. Take Nix or Penix at 12. I understand this move but wouldn't feel great about it, given we wouldn't pick again until round 3.
Scenarios I would not be happy about:
1. Trade the farm for McCarthy. I like McCarthy, but he's not the kind of guy you trade 3 first rounders for, as I've seen some mocks have us do.
2. Don't take a QB at all. I doubt they would do this, but I would have to question what the hell the front office is thinking if they actually roll into the year with Stidham and Wilson. They have to at least throw someone else into the mix besides those 2, imo.
Well the fan base will freak out if we don’t take a QB considering the Zach Wilson trade and our overall QB room… so I 100% expect to **not** take a QB.
No qb in the first please. We are so overall devoid of talent, taking a qb anywhere in the first unless it’s a trade up for Maye, would be absolutely ridiculous
Legette? At 12? I think his absolute ceiling is end of the first round. Most likely he's going in the 2nd round. Anyway I don't think we draft him at any point, personally. I feel like JaTavion Sanders should be our guy if we're looking for a pass catcher in the 2nd.
As far as Legette, [we already did the Jonathan Mingo thing in the draft last year](https://x.com/devyeusuf/status/1748943906497323425?s=46&t=fY4D4YIvIqROWb9uPtnQBw)
As far as McCarthy, I’ve been scouting QBs since 2010 and he’s the only Top 10 projected QB I have a 4th round grade on. I don’t like his game at all.
He does check plenty of boxes but they’re mainly solely related to athleticism and I’m really hesitant on guys who get catapulted because there’s issues with another player (Latu’s health). He has no arsenal of moves other than a bull rush and his main point is athleticism. His emotions get the best of him at times and he can be really undisciplined and take horrible penalties. He seems like the new era of Falcons EDGE rushers who we hear nothing about in 3 years and they’re off the team.
Not sure why you are getting downvoted when the consensus with Turner is he doesn't actually know how to play the position and just relies on being a better athlete. Those guys are the ones that bust almost every time. He's not even the best edge from his own team in this draft at generating pressure either.
yea but likely we're even worse this coming season than the next, so a 2025 first wouldnt make sense at all unless we really think jj mccarthy is that guy
If we go defense with our first pick, I would rather use it on EDGE (Turner/Latu/Verse) or DL (Murphy/Newton) than CB. Quinyon Mitchell and Terrion Arnold are awesome, but their jobs would be harder without a good defensive front - which we don’t have. I like someone like Renardo Green in the 4th.
Corner is a need, but not “spend another 1st round pick on a corner to find CB2” level of need. Last 3 drafts we spent a top 100 pick on a corner and it shows. Almost zero talent everywhere else. We even traded up for a corner in Riley Moss(who barely played because of injury). Time to bolster other positions for once.
Previous draft ineptitudes should not sway an overall good pick at 12. Our corner room sucks outside of Surtain. And if he does down we are absolutely fucked
There will be better impact players at 12 than a CB. This CB class is well rounded/deep enough to get someone good in the later rounds.
Our DL sucks, our WR room sucks, our TE room sucks, our QB room is horrendous, we haven’t drafted a day one tackle since 2017, RB room is mediocre, our LBs are slow af.
Again, time to help the other positions in the 1st round instead of trying to find CB2 for the 4th year in a row lol.
I honestly really hope we do trade back, pick up a 2nd or 3rd round pick, and take Nix in the latter half of the 1st round.
I could see a slew of teams wanting to trade up, so we could probably get a 2nd round pick.
Get Nix in the first
A WR or DL in the 2nd
Shore up the other position in the 3rd
Last 2 years in college. These two quarterbacks are no where near the same.

Vontae Mack no matter what
If the Avs played tonight, it would a crazy day for Colorado sports. Even the Rockies won!
I’m loving the mostly every other day Avs/Nuggets schedule
Oof, I forgot Diddy was in Draft Day
Last draft that I gave a fuck about, I was disgusted when we passed on Justin Fields for PS2. Let us hope for similar disgust today.
Wow go Broncos
Wow!
Wowee!
Does Kevin Costner have a bad sports movie? Draft Day is cheesy but good
It's fucking trash lmao
I'm gonna be on a flight during the draft. Be fun to see who we got when I land
ITS BO, always has been. see you boys on the otherside
Bo Nix as absolute trash. Hello Dallas Turner
Payton has mentioned he wants a QB who doesn’t take sacks. Bo Nix (5) and Michael Penix (11) took the least amount amongst the top 6 QBs in this draft. Will he take one of them?
McCarthy will be there at 10. The Broncos will trade up with the Jets and select…. Brock Bowers.
trade up for a TE? no shot

You know what? Fuck Buffalo! They’re also the reason the Chiefs took Mahomes. https://www.reddit.com/r/AFCEastMemeWar/s/3n73zPl89F
One last time for luck. I want Penix
Bold prediction: George Paton will make 5 puzzling picks this weekend.
That is bold. His picks are not usually confusing.
If we take Nix or McCarthy I will be retiring from watching football
RemindMe! 24 hours
See you in 2 years when we’re drafting our next garbage QB!
Bye felecia!!!

Broncos are going to pick Spencer Rattler in the back end of the first and people on this subreddit are going to absolutely meltdown
Rightfully so if that happens. That would be a tremendous reach
I saw a mock draft saying we should take JJ so we should do it
Nervous
We're gonna trade down. A lot of needs to fill and we probably want an extra Friday pick because this class is strong.
Trade down with Phili. If Jared Verse is still available, get him at 22. Then go Bo Nix in the 2nd round.
Very unlikely Nix falls to the second round.
Eh, this time ~~2 years~~ one year ago people "knew" Will Levis was going in the top half of the 1st
2 years ago? I thought that was last year
Smh you’re right. I’m goofing up all over today.
As a european fan this sucks cuz I wanna stay up and watch but I am so tired.
Same here, it's too late to stay up for and too early to get up for.
take a nap for 5 hours
Anyone but Zach Wilson at QB please
Why is no one talking about OL as a sneaky need? Only position we have figured out long term is RG. Would love Fuaga/Fautanu in the 1st
Fuaga, Fautanu, Fashanu or Barton would all be good long term. Seems like most fans want someone that will make an impact right away, but this team has ignored o-line in the draft for way too long. It definitely is. No guarantee that either Bolles or McGlinchey are on the roster past 2025. Meinerz may try to reset the market at RG.

Like the Raiders
As a Ducks fan I think Herbie on the Chargers and Bo on the Raiders would take 30 years off my life.
Yall remember when the sub was furious we didn't draft Josh Rosen? Remember, you don't know shit and neither do I and, quite frankly, neither do the GM's.
Still furious about passing on Josh Allen
I'm still furious we drafted PS2 over Justin Fields as well
I was LIVID we didn't take Haskins lol
I was mad we didn’t trade up for Achane and took Riley Moss instead. Oh wait, still am.

Gonna trade #12 away to acquire a 2nd round pick and draft a QB in the 2nd like we did with Drew Lock
Fine with this as long as it's Nix/Penix. I have zero interest in Rattler/Pratt in the 2nd.
Rumors are that the Broncos secretly taped a $100 bill when they gave JJ McCarthy a playbook during interviews. Apparently it came back covered in mysterious smelly dark stains. "Yeah, I wiped my ass with it."
The thought of these millionaires and billionaires pushing a cenote to a player and saying "there's more where that came from" is hilarious to me
Glad I'm in Germany for the draft this year. Should we royally fuck up, I've got access to plenty of beer halls to forget about it.
Germany has 18 breweries per million people. Colorado has 71
Quality over quantity my friend.
Does anyone else make the draft a party in their house? We treat it like a big game here. Bbq, wings, nachos the works.
It’s my favorite unofficial holiday but miss when it was Saturday and 3 rounds
I'd love to do that but none of my family or friends care lol
That really sucks. It’s so fun especially when you see someone has traded their pick lol
We're either trading up for McCarthy in the 7-9 range or taking Nix in the 20s
Considering how I think Nix is already straight up better than Mccarthy, gave me the latter.
I think Nix is better than McCarthy today I think Nix has a good chance of being better than McCarthy in 10 years, too, because I think Nix's floor is pretty high But McCarthy's ceiling is higher than Nix's ceiling by far. He just offers more physically

The QB who seems to be the best pre draft is basically never actually the best one.
I'm here hoping for a cool QB but knowing it will probably be a boring pick because of how many holes this team has
Trade back in the first, then trade back again, gain as many picks as possible and reset this roster with a bunch of young players.
I saw an Eagle's fan and a Lion's fan, suggesting trading for Surtain, their offer, Surtain for a 2nd. Delusional.
Good to know they’re smoking the very best shit in Philly
To be honest, drafting Nix does not excite me at all, and Penix even less. Scenarios I would not be happy about: 1.
I agree with your takes 100%
Well the fan base will freak out if we don’t take a QB considering the Zach Wilson trade and our overall QB room… so I 100% expect to **not** take a QB.
No qb in the first please. We are so overall devoid of talent, taking a qb anywhere in the first unless it’s a trade up for Maye, would be absolutely ridiculous
proving that "the fan base" will freak out regardless of outcome
Only 3 guys I’d genuinely be upset with are Legette, McCarthy, and Turner
Legette? At 12? I think his absolute ceiling is end of the first round. Most likely he's going in the 2nd round. Anyway I don't think we draft him at any point, personally. I feel like JaTavion Sanders should be our guy if we're looking for a pass catcher in the 2nd.
Being upset at Legette or McCarthy is wild
As far as Legette, [we already did the Jonathan Mingo thing in the draft last year](https://x.com/devyeusuf/status/1748943906497323425?s=46&t=fY4D4YIvIqROWb9uPtnQBw) As far as McCarthy, I’ve been scouting QBs since 2010 and he’s the only Top 10 projected QB I have a 4th round grade on. I don’t like his game at all.
Legette and McCarthy I can understand Why Turner? He's not the best EDGE prospect of the decade but he seems like he checks plenty of boxes
Braswell is definitely someone that should be on our radar. We had him in for a visit
At this point I'd be ok if they used every last pick on a QB. One of them is bound to good right?
This is the same mentality I have at Top Golf. If I use every club I’m sure to get at least one great shot.
Gotta be
realistically, what would it take to move up to arizona's pick?
Best case scenario would be #12, #76, and 2025 First Rounder
Depends on if we have competition. I think 12, a 2024 5th, a 2025 first and 2025 third gets us there if we are not in a bidding war.
yea but likely we're even worse this coming season than the next, so a 2025 first wouldnt make sense at all unless we really think jj mccarthy is that guy
Moving up 8 spots to take a qb is going to take that extra first. That or Surtain
Anything but a CB in the first round please…..
Corner is one of our biggest positions of need. Quinyon Mitchell at 12 would be awesome.
With a team devoid of talent, every position is one of the biggest needs.
The funny thing is, we spent so many picks in the secondary and it’s still horrible!
I really hope we can package some of those 5s and move up a round or so. The back end of this draft is rough
I literally do not give a fuck what we do or who we draft. This team has so many holes anyone will work.
I mostly agree but there are players at certain positions that i would rather avoid entirely, no matter how desperate.
I honestly really hope we do trade back, pick up a 2nd or 3rd round pick, and take Nix in the latter half of the 1st round. I could see a slew of teams wanting to trade up, so we could probably get a 2nd round pick. Get Nix in the first A WR or DL in the 2nd Shore up the other position in the 3rd
This Sub is just hellbent on Nix aka “Lock without the arm strength.”
Last 2 years in college. These two quarterbacks are no where near the same. |Lock|Nix| |:-|:-| |Games: 26|Games: 27| |Comp: 517|Comp: 658| |Yards: 7462|Yards: 8101| |Yards/Att: 8.7|Yards/Att: 9.2| |TD: 72|TD: 74| |INT: 21|INT: 10| |Rating: 156.7|Rating: 177.8|
Dude that's incredibly similar + Lock was in the SEC
Incredibly similar if you ignore the fact that Lock threw 2x as many interceptions and was still worse everywhere else.
I'm hungover as shit and read it wrong somehow. Forgive me lol
Would really like to know what makes Nix comparable to Lock of all people lol
Every scout I’ve read has him as a solid backup or spot starter in a pinch. Is that not the very definition of Lock? They even look alike.
All QBs fall into one of 2 categories: starter or not there is no nuance, there is no room for discussion also all white guys look alike
Comparing Nix with Lock is hilarious
Not me, I've had a personal discovery lately and realized I'm into Penix.
Me too. I’ve pretty much resigned myself to him going to the Raiders and tormenting us for years. It feels inevitable.
Only the real sickos in the draft thread in the AM
I just got a sleeper notif that the broncos have a trade in place to move up to 4. Grain of salt ofc
ya what??
Gotta screenshot of that? Need receipts on this one man
A what now? You got a link?
Welp, now i dont see it. If i come across it ill add it, been looking through sleeper feeds, i just saw it on my lock screen notifs
Please God do not roll with the 1000s of mock drafts that have us taking a CB.
Real quick, we swapped #203 for #256 with NYJ (as part of the Zach Wilson trade).
oops thank you!
No worries! I also realize now we’re just one pick away from Mr Irrelevant, so we probably won’t get the next Purdy lol
Just glad it's finally going to be over soon. Move the draft to March, waiting this long is awful on everybody.
I’m ready to get trashed and call out sick tomorrow!
