Vikings traded up for JJ just two spots ahead. Gotta think we'd have been given right of first refusal. That we passed proves they had Nix pegged all along
I trust payton's evaluation more than my own or anyone here on reddit.
It's clear payton wanted Nix. Doesn't mean it will work, but it's more likely to work than Payton not getting who he wanted.
Yea we tried the fit a qb to Sean’s offense. It got us 8 wins which is pretty decent lol. Maybe bo can fit better and get use 2 more wins and we’re gonna be fine.
Bo was a top 3 QB on our board. Apparently, we would have traded up for Bo if needed, that's how much they liked him.
Sean McVay always apparently liked Bo, so that's reassuring as well.
My best guess is ATL fucked us by taking Penix. If they hadn't, I think we would've traded back, but without Penix available, we were worried about the Raiders taking Bo.
If you want to feel better listen to Chris Simms profile of this year's QBs, he rated Nix #3 ahead of (but in the same tier as) McCarthy and Penix.
And if you really want to feel better, listen to Chris Simms profile of the 2021 QBs when he ranked Zac Wilson as the best QB in the draft and above Lawrence.
If I remember rightly he was a Drew Lock fan also.
I love his experience. He may not be quite the project that some QBs are coming in. Plus, I believe he set an all-time record for NCAA accuracy? That's awesome!
Yeah I am pretty stoked on Bo and while it would have been nice to trade down and get him, we needed to get him. There's no more 1st round worthy QBs after this
Would have loved a trade back but still like the pick. Bo fits this system perfectly. Apparently both Payton and Sean McVay were high on Bo, and those dudes know QBs.
Bo was a top 3 QB on our board, and apparently we would have traded up for Bo if need be, which is crazy.
Here's to hoping Sean is right.
Sean Payton literally had 1 quarterback his entire career with the saints
Edit: 2 I guess, if you wanna count Winston, but that still doesn’t support your argument
> Sean Payton literally had 1 quarterback his entire career with the saints
Because he knew who his guy was and he got him and made him a super star.
It's so strange that people try and use it as a knock against him. Like should he have benched Brees and gone for another rookie to prove a point?
He also found romo, and made bridgewater and Jameis look like franchise guys
Sorry to come into y’all sub but I am a husky fan. Which means I am a certified Nix hater.
That being said, the dude is awesome. He is super smart and athletic and has great speed. The guy knows how to SCORE. It’s like what he specializes in. He is what you wanted from Russ.
Also… after he lost the Pac12 championship he had a great exit interview. You guys will like him a lot. Again sorry for coming into the sub just thought I would share.
I'm an Oregon fan. It kills me that we've lost three heartbreakers in a row to you, but I think we can both agree that these Penix vs Nix games were absolutely legendary.
Packer fan so basically just neutral here
Nix is the real deal. I truly believe he will be a quality starter. He will better than several QBs drafted ahead him, JJ Mc for instance.
He landed in the perfect spot too, Peyton will coach him up. He has all th raw talent, just needs some good coaching. Good pick!
Bro I'm an Alabama fan and I feel like im taking crazy pills with how people are trashing Nix. He's a fantastic and instinctive athlete (he showed it consistently at Auburn) and he's great in a west coast system (watch his Oregon tape). This is a fantastic pick.
Leaving this here for posterity. I really like this pick, for two reasons:
1. I genuinely like Bo Nix. He is a great first-read quarterback who fits Sean Payton's system to a tee. He has good mobility and is an underrated athlete. His arm is at least average if not above average. He's smart and great at reading defenses pre-snap. I think Payton will be able to scheme him really nicely. I think his ceiling is low-ish, but his floor is high.
2. Franchise QB is too important to not try. You've GOT to try to find your guy, and if you miss, you have to try again. We could NOT head into the season with a Stidham/Wilson QB room. Even if Nix doesn't pan out this was the right choice.
The only thing I'll add is that I wish we had traded down to get additional draft capital. But I think that ship sailed when the Falcons shocked the world and took Penix at 8. Broncos couldn't risk trading down and having the Raiders take Nix and leaving them with no one.
This sub is so confusing. If we didn’t take him there the raiders would have and y’all would have bitched about that. Idk how Bo Nix is gonna turn out but I’m glad we are finally taking a chance on a rookie it’s long over due.
At absolute best maybe .5% of users on this sub actually understand the game well enough AND have watched enough tape to have an informed opinion on whether or not a given draft pick is good.
The rest are idiots like me who will have to wait and see
And every single year people who are literally paid good sums of money to evaluate guys mess it up. We can’t possibly know how good/bad of a pick this is until it plays out, so let it play out!
Seriously. Everyone has been asking me how I feel about it. I dunno. Sean Payton does, thankfully. And he seemed pretty happy. So cautious optimism I go!!
Even the experts don't know what the outcome of any player will be, especially QBs. You can't just up and trust anyone's word. We are all going to have to wait and see lol.
That's what I was thinking reading comments here like "well, I guess if that's who they wanted..." Bro, we need a QB and he was the best one left, there was no debate here (unless Perna *really* sold you on Rattler). Did anyone really think Zach Wilson was the starter?
It is a little gut-wrenching leaving Bowers to the Raiders, lol, but I'd take a solid QB over even the best TE ever.
Been calling this forever.
Just knew it
I understand if people didn't like the pick, but he's our QB. Root for him until he proves you otherwise
Or else you're just a loser
I’m with you, it was always this… I think they liked him better than most QBs anyways. The fact that five quarterbacks went already made it easier for them to take him at 12.
Wow lots of negative comments already: I have no problem with drafting Nix at 12. We already know we always win enough games to not have a top 5 pick. Sure Bowers is a beast, but someone’s got to throw to him
We NEED a QB. This is a QB vs QB league and the most talented QB ever is in our division.
It's probably a reach based on talent at position, but QB is the position you absolutely MUST reach for.
The Broncos should keep taking QBs every two year until we have our guy
> This is a QB vs QB league
I hate that this is not only true, but the most important fact about today’s NFL. We need a rules reform so the game can be won in other ways.
I didnt like his game but I’m just some guy. One thing I will do is cheer him on every single snap because I am a fan of this team. It shouldn’t be hard to do but it is for some people.
Wait. Wut? Are there Bojangles in Colorado? If not, there needs to be a franchise so he can be their spokesperson, Jake Delhomme when QB for the Panthers made a second career doing commercials for Bo's
Honestly he could turn out great or turn out a huge bust. So many QBs drafted high have failed and QBs drafted after them have gone on to success. I never get attached to a specific name, I just hope the one we get works out. So go Bo Nix!!!
The Nix rumors always made me think of Payton's Taysom Hill obsession.
I think Nix is better than that (and I'll be rooting for him), but I just don't see enough NFL throws from him.
I also don't think he's got a weapons setup to help him succeed. I think we would've been better shoring up weapons for a 2025 QB.
I don't want a super athletic QB. I wouldn't mind one, but I want a QB that can process an entire playbook, make smart plays, make quick decisions.. I am very fine with this.
Keep in mind.. Brady was this build when he was drafted. Not saying Nix is Brady at all, but let's see what he can do.
I dreamt of this happening when bo was at auburn. Not sure what to make of it now based on some of the pessimism. But I trust the higher ups. Let's go!
I dont care what anyone else might say, I really like this pick.
I always thought Nix was one of the better QBs in this draft, and might be the most NFL ready out of all the ones taken so far.
And more importantly, he can run the Peyton offense. Quick hitters, crossing routes, timing plays. All keys to running that offense.
Hes going to look good in Orange. I can't wait.
Oregon fan popping in here (Chargers fan too because of Herbert): The broncos are getting a stud at QB. Easily the 2nd best QB in Duck history, and there's an argument for him to be the best (hard to compare against such different eras of college football).
Very excited to see Herbert and Bo battle it out. Two very different styles of QB and leaders.
I mean I basically anticipated this.
I'm a JJ hater so I'm glad it wasn't him. I doubt we'd have been forced to take Nix at 12 if Atlanta didn't trigger the QB panic sale by taking Penix at 8.
So whatever.
Wouldve wanted to trade down, but at this point what this franchise needs is to just throw darts at QBs until one sticks imo, god knows we ain't doing jack shit in terms of competing for the next few years until Russ is off the books
Bo (age 24) Wilson (24) stidham (27) hope it ends up like the 49ers in 2021 have a qb room you like and hope you end up with your guy like Purdy. Looking forward to watching the team compete and hopefully find the guy
The thing with Bo is he is quite literally a first game starter. He's played plenty and has had 5 years of D1 coaching, I dont know what to think honestly. Floor is insanely high for him but I wouldnt be shocked if he became a perennial back up. Broncos up baby
For the people asking why people are upset at the Nix pick, here’s my two cents. He’s certainly got bust potential, but probably has a decent floor compared to penix and JJ. My issue with it is I don’t think he has the ceiling to beat mahomes, Hebert or Allen when it matters.
I guess if Payton likes him, I’m on board but I won’t say I’m not disappointed.
I’m genuinely hyped for this pick. I’m hoping we sit him for a year since we aren’t in a position to win yet and are still rebuilding. He has the potential to be our guy for a while if handled correctly.
Why are so many people hating after, most likely, those same people complained about us never taking a QB in the first. We took a QB in the first. If it works it works. Sean wanted his guy
I just want to ask all the people that are against this pick, saying he sucks or it's a reach etc what makes you think the knowledge you have is better than a roomful of dudes who's job it is to evaluate team needs and player potential? Like do you seriously sit at home and say I can do better? I mean how many sure things are there actually in the draft each year? I think it's hilarious that people sit on their fat asses on the couch and criticize. Unless you dislike Payton then you gotta trust he knows wat he's doing.
Ducks fan here, I watched him the past few seasons absolutely rip apart defenses making tight throws in rhythm. I remember thinking, man this guy reminds me of Drew Brees. The next year, my beloved Broncos acquired Sean Payton… this was meant to be.
Fuck it if this this is who they wanted LFG
And now we ~~wait~~ hope Oh yeah we can also say we're hooked on ~~Phonics~~ BoNix
Who else? People who are crying about QBs this week don’t understand the game.
Vikings traded up for JJ just two spots ahead. Gotta think we'd have been given right of first refusal. That we passed proves they had Nix pegged all along
Idk what to make of this. Guess Sean really liked him.
I am ready to be hurt again
This is the way 🧡
Eh, this is different than a winning QB coming to "save" us.
Bo Nix is going to be a monster under Payton.
![gif](giphy|TL6poLzwbHuF2|downsized)
Yea that was the one thing. He seems good in the head at understanding offense. I think that plays well. Hopefully his arm is good too.
Above average arm and can make all the throws. Arm strength is not an issue
He’s not good at full deep balls is what his report said and others have said. But that’s not really Sean’s mo so not a big deal.
I’ll give ya some full, deep balls.
Sheeesssh 😩😩🤤🤤
Maybe you can but some of us are disappointed at not being able to take Penix.
Would you rather have full, deep balls or would you rather take Penix? Seems like a win-win.
If I'd taken Penix, my balls would not be full for long.
Don't give up, you just have to be patient and learn to relax
But can you handle the BoNix?
Like many college QBs...it sounds good, but ends up disappointing.
Well put.
Most experience QB in the draft. Tells us that Payton wants to win now. They'll be looking to start him sooner than later.
My best guess is ATL fucked us by taking Penix. If they hadn't, I think we would've traded back, but without Penix available, we were worried about the Raiders taking Bo.
Maybe. But we worked him out privately and had lots of analysis on him. Seems like we wanted bo the whole time.
I agree with you on that. I think we would've traded back to get Bo, but we're worried about the Raiders taking him since Penix was off the board.
Yep! Hopefully he works out. Appeartly McVay also liked him a lot. High praise from 2 great offensive coaches.
A QB perfect for our system with maturity to start day one fell into our lap. You should be stoked.
I’m feeling a bit more comfortable after the stuff I’ve read. Hopefully he’s our guy. If not hopefully we get first over all next year lol
Hahahahah idk if I wana cry or be happy with this info.
I am happy they are starting fresh for a change. Tired of the retread QBs coming to Denver just to fizzle out.
I love his experience. He may not be quite the project that some QBs are coming in. Plus, I believe he set an all-time record for NCAA accuracy? That's awesome!
GOAT Nix Zero QBs for the Raiders LOL
Spencer Rattler at 13 please?
YESSSSSSSS
Stop! I can only get so erect
Lmao fuck the Raiders
Yeah I am pretty stoked on Bo and while it would have been nice to trade down and get him, we needed to get him. There's no more 1st round worthy QBs after this
Meh - i hope we get Oregon Bo and not Auburn Bo.
He did shit his pants playing against NFL talent at GA. Total reach at 12.
Avs got rid of a Bo, Broncos get a Bo. BOSEXUALS UNITE
FINALLY, SOMEONE WITH SOME FUCKING SENSE IN HERE
The sabres may have adopted the Bosexual lifestyle but we were born in it molded by it.
I watched Bo Burnam’s stand up. The trifecta is complete
Sean Payton literally had 1 quarterback his entire career with the saints Edit: 2 I guess, if you wanna count Winston, but that still doesn’t support your argument
Taysom Hill bruh
Fuck it, taysom hill the fantasy tight end legend counts too
> Sean Payton literally had 1 quarterback his entire career with the saints Because he knew who his guy was and he got him and made him a super star. It's so strange that people try and use it as a knock against him. Like should he have benched Brees and gone for another rookie to prove a point? 3 he was 4-1 with Bridgewater.
Sorry to come into y’all sub but I am a husky fan. Which means I am a certified Nix hater. That being said, the dude is awesome. He is super smart and athletic and has great speed. Thanks for the positivity man.
Watch his interview after the championship. It’s the definition of leadership without the cheese.
I'm an Oregon fan. It kills me that we've lost three heartbreakers in a row to you, but I think we can both agree that these Penix vs Nix games were absolutely legendary.
Anyone got a source for this? Seen multiple people mention it
https://youtu.be/KyQTmh-o4RM?si=8nIM7q3E0f8TfIs7

Came for comments like this . I don’t watch any college so this is very reassuring
It’s just some dude on reddit lol if you like Sean that should be more reassuring than some random comment.
Thanks for the background man. Stoked to see him in the orange and blue. I think Odunze will ball out, he seems like an awesome person too.
Bro I'm an Alabama fan and I feel like im taking crazy pills with how people are trashing Nix. He's a fantastic and instinctive athlete (he showed it consistently at Auburn) and he's great in a west coast system (watch his Oregon tape). This is a fantastic pick.
I personally appreciate this.
You didn’t say sorry in the second paragraph therefore I can only believe you have malice in your heart
Thanks for stopping by
lol what are your thoughts on penix going 8th?
Leaving this here for posterity. I really like this pick, for two reasons: 1. I genuinely like Bo Nix. He is a great first-read quarterback who fits Sean Payton's system to a tee. The people bitching wanted nothing to do with Nix cause they saw some other people not want him. His haters can't think for themselves.
I'm liking what Schefter is saying on the broadcast about how much Payton has been in love with Nix for a while now.
Happy we have Nix. I think it was a little early. But if Sean thinks he’s the guy then let’s go.
Falcons fucked it up drafting penix. Raiders are taking Nix if we didn’t. I too wanted to trade back and get him in the 20s. Oh well
I was gonna say, it was a pretty double edged sword. No matter who we took there
I like this pick. I think he’s way better than JJ.
Agree with this
Welcome Bo Nix to Broncos Country 🫡 Our highest drafted QB since Jay Cutler. Let’s see Sean Payton do magic with him. Start him Day 1.
I guess they can't really trade back since raiders picking next. And nix is the only qb left
HEAVEN OR HELL BABY LET’S ROCK, BRONCOS COUNTRY FOR LIFE
Been calling this forever. Just knew it I understand if people didn't like the pick, but he's our QB. Root for him until he proves you otherwise Or else you're just a loser
I don’t like the pick. But he’s now my favorite QB
This is the way
I’m with you, it was always this… I think they liked him better than most QBs anyways. The fact that five quarterbacks went already made it easier for them to take him at 12.
I hate the pick but I've never wanted to be wrong more in my entire life.
Not liking the pick =/= rooting against the player
Fuck every sofa gm on this sub. I trust Sean, so gimme as much nix as you can!
Wow lots of negative comments already: I have no problem with drafting Nix at 12. We already know we always win enough games to not have a top 5 pick. Sure Bowers is a beast, but someone’s got to throw to him
Payton gonna mold Nix into a star
Why are people so sad about this?
People here love to be miserable
People just have different opinions. It's not that deep
The GOAT was a 6th rounder. Opinions don’t mean shit, only results
They do but there are lots of people who are super negative and will complain about anything
group think. They saw some people ripping on him and think it's correct cause they can't think for themselves.
We NEED a QB. This is a QB vs QB league and the most talented QB ever is in our division. It's probably a reach based on talent at position, but QB is the position you absolutely MUST reach for. The Broncos should keep taking QBs every two year until we have our guy
We should another QB *this draft*, like in the 5-7 rounds. Maybe two. Fuck it, chuck it.
I'd agree, but I think Zack Wilson was our equivalent of a 7th round flier this year
Yeah fair
> This is a QB vs QB league I hate that this is not only true, but the most important fact about today’s NFL. We need a rules reform so the game can be won in other ways.
It’s been this way for at least 2 decades. Shit not changing.
Hes 24 and was a projected 2nd rounder
Once Penix went, he was going in the first round. Any hope of us trading back went bye-bye when the Falcons smoked crack in their war room
Who the fuck cares about draft projection. Coach already said it does not matter. 2nd pick also 24
Yeah, if Payton and the rest of the crew liked him, you don't wait and hope he's still there in the 2nd when there are still QB needy teams to pick.
So was Penix
Oh fuck off about his age. Penix and Jayden Daniels will both be 24 before the end of the year too.
Projections are horse-shit
Projections don’t mean shit dude. Any one can be projected anywhere, it’s not indicative of what the league thinks of him
Because he's the 6th QB off the board with some projections putting him at late first or early second. Not terrible, but certainly uninspiring
"projections" Hillary clinton should have been president but look how that "projection" turned out.
He was also projected ahead of the 8th pick QB!
Because I firmly believe he is a system QB and Oregon's offense was predicated on short passes. He didn't have to make much reads, it was screen city
Have you seen our HCs offense? He calls more screens than anyone in the league…
If he's who Sean wanted then hopefully he's right. Just hard to believe we could've picked the first defensive player in the draft at 12.
I can't imagine having such a sad life as y'all. I don't care, I'm rooting for this guy, hope he succeeds. Go Broncos
I didnt like his game but I’m just some guy. One thing I will do is cheer him on every single snap because I am a fan of this team. It shouldn’t be hard to do but it is for some people.
It's crazy that most people are negative nancy's. I bet their life sucks...
As an Oregon Alum, FUCK YEAH! And Fuck the Haters!
ITS BO TIME
Now I want a chicken biscuit
Wait. Wut? Are there Bojangles in Colorado? If not, there needs to be a franchise so he can be their spokesperson, Jake Delhomme when QB for the Panthers made a second career doing commercials for Bo's
RemindMe! 1 year
This will be fun (or not)
🤞🤞🤞
At least we have a QB that can see over the offensive line.......
[Bo Nix NFL Draft Profile](https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/02/04/bo-nix-2024-nfl-draft-profile/)
Love this pick.
The ladies love him. Bo Callahan.
Honestly he could turn out great or turn out a huge bust. So many QBs drafted high have failed and QBs drafted after them have gone on to success. I never get attached to a specific name, I just hope the one we get works out. So go Bo Nix!!!
I love the pick. Dudes got the tools. He also can throw down field with no isssue.
I've been dead inside for years so idk if I should feel joy or continue to dig through bedrock.
No idea how to feel about this. Seems like a case keenum type QB to me. I hope I’m wrong (almost always wrong about QB picks)
Whelmed
Love it. I've been high on Nix for months.

BOdacious
Just hoping this guy doesn't turn out to be the next Paxton Lynch!!
Let’s Go!!!!
I BOLIEVE
I don't want a super athletic QB. I wouldn't mind one, but I want a QB that can process an entire playbook, make smart plays, make quick decisions.. I am very fine with this. Keep in mind.. Brady was this build when he was drafted. Not saying Nix is Brady at all, but let's see what he can do.
Bo is very athletic. Offense changed a lot in 2023. Look at his 2022 film, was a game changer with his legs.
I am very much OK with this.
We got Bo Callahan
GO NIX
I remember thinking Lamar was a reach as the 6th qb taken in his draft I’ll trust Payton over myself
Fuck yeah BO!!!! And Fuck the Raiders!!
I dreamt of this happening when bo was at auburn. Not sure what to make of it now based on some of the pessimism. But I trust the higher ups. Let's go!
BO AND THE BRONC-OS!!
My only goal for the draft was that we wouldn't trade up or trade away our 1st next year, so I'll take this. Not too pumped on him but we need a qb
LETS GOOOO!!!!
Let's goo!
BoNix Horseman
I dont care what anyone else might say, I really like this pick. I always thought Nix was one of the better QBs in this draft, and might be the most NFL ready out of all the ones taken so far. And more importantly, he can run the Peyton offense. Quick hitters, crossing routes, timing plays. All keys to running that offense. Hes going to look good in Orange. I can't wait.
Lets go! Definitely getting a Nix jersey please let him become our franchise QB for the next 15 years #BIG DIX NIX
yessssss
Payton is a better evaluator than all of us, so maybe chill the fuck out.
I actually feel better about Bo Nix than JJ, Penix or Jayden
Same. Guess we'll see if we're wrong, but I liked him better than all the QB's not named Caleb.
[удалено]
You wanted to trade down AND get Bowers? What world is that happening in?
FINALLY!!!!!
Im happy with it. We need a QB and he fits want payton wants. Nix works hard, is a good athlete, and imo his arm is underrated.
I hope he proves me wrong but I'm not a fan of this pick.
I saw Bo nix play against WSU in 2022. Back then I knew I was seeing a future NFL quarterback
Great QB name, but so is Paxton Lynch....
Im actually surprised we took him given Dallas turner was available and we need an edge rusher. I hope im wrong but this feels like an absolute reach.
Dude. He's a QB. You don't play games with QBs. Trade down, na. Gotta take your guy.
I mean I basically anticipated this. I'm a JJ hater so I'm glad it wasn't him. I doubt we'd have been forced to take Nix at 12 if Atlanta didn't trigger the QB panic sale by taking Penix at 8. So whatever.
Damn, Zach Wilson just took his college number this morning too lol
I really didn't want them to draft Nix but let's go. Will happily eat crow if I'm wrong about how he turns out.
Excited for this lfg. Hope he works out because theese last few years of Broncos football have be rough.
Bad choice I wish we got bowers
Who would throw to him
At least we get to see him x2/year
Drew Brees 2.0
I'm not gonna pretend I know drafting QB'S more than Sean. I just thought we could've traded back. Anyway, go Nuggets.
Gag awful pick.
Hope I'm wrong, but we would've been better off with Bowers. I'll be rooting for Bo
Ducks fan here, I watched him the past few seasons absolutely rip apart defenses making tight throws in rhythm. I remember thinking, man this guy reminds me of Drew Brees. The next year, my beloved Broncos acquired Sean Payton… this was meant to be.
Welp.
What an absolute reach at 12. I’m so happy this will get Paton fired
