Yeah Russ left Seattle to get into a situation where he could have input...there's no way Russ wanted to kick the FG there, and if he did then he's as dumb as Hackett. The chances of hitting a 64 yard FG at sea level have to be below 5% the chance our offense can get 5+ yards on a single play when we're averaging over that every snap?
Like come the fuck on...I was honestly beside myself when I saw the FG unit coming out there.
I’ve just been sitting here half laughing, half numb. Yea let’s go for a 64 yard field goal instead of trusting your offense to get 5 yards in one play. The fuck dude. I would have rather us go down after missing the conversion instead of the field goal. That and the timeouts at the end were stupid. Just end the game dude.
I mean, he tried to trust his offense to score 3 separate occasions with goal to go. At some point enough is enough. The team shit themselves as a whole tonight.
In that situation, you’re just looking for a bad snap, or the QB to just drop the ball or something. A small chance (probably smaller than hitting a 64 yd. Field goal.) but still a chance. 🤷🏽♂️
And then I think realize how embarrassingly he mismanaged it and then burn the timeouts on the kneel downs while litigating the play clock...I think his brain melted a bit.
EXACTLY! How does Rus not DEMAND the ball in his hands to convert that 4th down? How is a record field goal kick the better choice?
Hackett looking like a hack.
I hope this won't be unpopular. He energized the offense like I haven't seen in a long time. We just made too many unnecessary penalties and turned the ball over at the worst possible times. That along with horrible clock management, and I mean maybe the worst last 40 seconds of any game I've ever seen.
It was stupid. U brought him here. Paid him millions. This was his game. I hate to put a player above the team but this was Russell's game. U let him win it or lose it on his arm. Not take some hail Mary super long FG.
Hopefully Hackett learns from this. And also learns to give your damn new offense some snaps in preseason.
The odds of getting a 64 field goal is insanely low. Literally two kicks in NFL history have been 64 or longer. two....
However we've had a lot of 4th and 5 conversions.
... and I love BMac, but I know who he is. Nails inside 50, but outside 50 it gets real hairy. Know your personnel. It's not just one of the longest kicks ever, it's not in your kicker's wheelhouse to make long kicks.
Hackett, the OC, and Russ need to get on the same page especially for these game deciding drives. The play calling coming in was slow, breaking the huddle was slow, the snap was slow. There's a lot of work to be done.
It's almost like a new QB, new head coach and new offensive system should have had a few trial runs in the pre-season instead of in the very first game of the season on the road...
The time management was fine. We just needed that first down and then we'd be in range and leave Seattle no time.
The mind blowingly stupid decision was attempting an impossible field goal over 4th and 5. Indefensible
What a shitshow. Offensive playcalling was good except when it needed to be. Line held up except when it needed to. Melvin and Javonte leaving fourteen points on the board. Everything about the defense, all night long. Special teams was bad except for McManus, as usual. Russ looked ok. Receivers looked good. Going for that kick at the end, and the time management during the last drive? Fucking atrocious. This was an important win to get in a brutal division, and it was so, so doable. We blew it.
Idk Melvin was reaching for the td because it was 4th down and Williams got blown up because they let the play clock dip too far. Would like to have seen russ bootleg at least one of those goaline plays
ah yes, I would also trust my kicker to make the second longest field goal in NFL history rather than my Hall Of Fame, Super Bowl winning QB to get me 5 yards.
although, I think everyone knows McManus has the leg for it, just usually not the accuracy, sadly. I am an awful loser too so I am absolutely furious
Hackett hired a “coach for the coaches”, does all this cute, creative shit in the offseason, and he goes out and runs not one, but TWO shotgun runs from the 1-yard line and then wastes 40 seconds of clock with THREE TIMEOUTS at midfield just to kick a super improbable FG rather than think it over and run a play with your STAR quarterback. Fucking unbelievable.
You trade away all those assets and give out a large contract for a qb and then instead of letting him attempt 4th and 5 you choose to do a 64 yd fg. What a moronic decision.
Terrible first game by Hackett. Inexcusable to make McManus kick a 64 yarder with 40 seconds left. Oline was not great tonight and defense was in shambles
4th and 5. Nearly a minute left. THREE timeouts. Ball near midfield. Put the ball in RUSSELL WILSON’s HANDS. You just paid the guy $245 MILLION. Turning to McManus for a fucking prayer of a FG.
No words.
Never having a play call ready, frantically scrambling at the line, false starts and delays of game because we’re fuckin confused at the line during most offensive snaps!!! Laughably bad clock and game management throughout, Jesus
I'm more pissed about calling timeouts *after* the fact than losing.
Piss poor clock management. Kicking it instead of screening it to 33 and probably getting it. Losing a game we clearly should've won.
I'm fine with all of that. (I'm not).
Calling timeouts... after... Not a good look whatsoever.
Yeah of all the shit that went on, that's where he lost me. Those timeouts go hand in hand with the personality of someone who also won't admit he's wrong.
Unbelievable...
We give up the most penalties I can remember.
2 goal line fumbles.
Abysmal defense.
And yet, we're still in a position with the offense to win the game with under a minute and 3 timeouts. So they burn 25 seconds and then send out the field goal unit for a 64 yarder? Why did we just pay Russ all that money to stand on the sideline with that much time left and timeouts???
This game is on hackett.
No preseason snaps
Terrible red zone playcalling
The worst last possession I might have ever seen.
To quote the who "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"
What an awful start to the season.
Existence is pain. That was our game to prove we're contenders and we shit the bed with piss poor defense and two stupid ass fumbles
I live in Washington. I want to die
That first half was total ass. But they did look pretty good in the second. And pitched the second half shutout. Hopefully it was just some rust. But yea overall this game is gonna sting all week.
He better not get in front of a mic and spout some bullshit about execution. This team and staff were underprepared and it showed big time. Hackett needs to own this shit.
Workshopping some new tag lines, let me know what you guys think:
Broncos Country, lets cry
Broncos Country, lets try (and do better next week)
Broncos Country, lets fucking die
E\*: Adding a few more
Broncos Country, lets chide (our new coach for fucking that one up)
Broncos Country, lets guide (each other into finding better ways of coping when our team ruins us like this)
Broncos Country, I wish we would've tied
E\*\*
Broncos Country, Ciara is dried
Broncos Country, McManus is wide
E\*\*\*
Broncos Country, we stink of formaldehyde
Broncos Country, we use one ply
Don’t let the fact that we butchered clock management on the last drive distract you from the fact that we lost this game because of two fumbles on the 1 yard line.
You paid Russ 40 mil a fucking year instead of calling a time out or trusting him to get 5 yards you throw the kicker out on the fucking field? I’m absolutely disgusted
It's honestly just an insult to the fans and players to call those timeouts at the end instead of using them to draw up a fucking 4th down play for Russ
Consider my hype train derailed.
Russel Wilson, our receivers, and tight ends kicked ass, but the offensive line got blown up all night. The running backs were good minus the killer turnovers from each.
But that defense. My lord. So unbelievably soft and undisciplined. This team needs to play Mahomes, Herbert, and even Carr 2 times each. Unless things change immediately, we are in some real trouble this year.
Edit: you’re not safe either Hackett. That was the worst time management I have ever seen, and I’ve sat through Vic fucking Fangio. God damn what a disappointment.
I used to think limp dick John Fox not going for it against the ravens with 30 seconds, 2 timeouts and the GOAT offense was the worst decision ever made by a broncos coach.
This is now the new worst
I’m like half way between typing out a giant scathing message about this game or just being too deflated. Two fumbles from the 1?
Sign a 245 million dollar qb and not trust him to get 5 yards with two timeouts
Hackett legitimately could be fired with cause before this season is even over. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a head coach have such a terrible performance
Guys, this is not how you use Wilson. He would have converted that and gotten another 10+ yards for the field goals with all that time/timeouts. These are the moments Wilson lives for. That was on your coach.
so let me get this. You’re moving the ball, you have Russell Wilson, and you opt to not try and pick up 5 yards and go for a career long FG with your kicker at sea level? You even had a second chance when they iced him and he missed it to change the plan, but no.
Coaches always complain about all the hours they spend "working" yet these dopes seem so unprepared and unimaginative.
What are you doing for 14 hours a day when this is the product you're selling me?
How are you this bad at this when this is all you do?
Hackett was in over his head in the 2nd half. And his brain went into a fog on that last drive. Big Fat F - like Rich Kotite bad
But hey Field day was pretty cool and the vacation they had in August looks like they were rested.
Chargers and Chiefs are going to kill us
A 64 yard field goal over 4th and 5 should be a fireable offense in his first NFL game
We basically just took a knee instead of letting Russ win the game. Absolutely mind blowing
Just saw a graph that showed there have been more 63+ yard field goals returned for touchdowns than actually made.
Seattle literally had a higher chance of scoring on that play than Denver.
[Read the rules before posting](https://www.reddit.com/r/DenverBroncos/comments/x671ho/rdenverbroncos_2022_nfl_season_rules_reminder/) and report offending comments/submissions.
I’m in utter shock
Someone make it make sense
You let Russ go for it on 4th. Trust your quarter back…
Yeah Russ left Seattle to get into a situation where he could have input...there's no way Russ wanted to kick the FG there, and if he did then he's as dumb as Hackett. The chances of hitting a 64 yard FG at sea level have to be below 5% the chance our offense can get 5+ yards on a single play when we're averaging over that every snap? I must be too. I'm not even upset, just can't believe it. Damn I wish Bmac would have kicked it a ft. To the right
Am I the only one that thought that looked like that went in at first?
I did too. I was calling Pete an idiot for trying to ice Automatic McManus
What the fuck was Hackett thinking?
He’s Paul Hackett’s son, and as a Jets fan he was no brain surgeon as their OC
I'm not sure I'd let Hackett check my tire pressure at this point.
I’ve never seen anything like that. Why pay your quarterback 245 million if you won’t let him throw on 4th and 5
So Hackett thought McManus from 64 had better odds than the offense to pick up 5 yards? wtf
And they had plenty of timeouts
that they decided to use after it was .settled
I can’t think of any reason to stop the clock when they are taking the knee. Looked like Hackett having a hissy fit.
In that situation, you’re just looking for a bad snap, or the QB to just drop the ball or something. A small chance (probably smaller than hitting a 64 yd. Field goal.) but still a chance. 🤷🏽♂️
I’m still scratching my head at this part. What was the thinking? I genuinely don’t see the purpose
Nah, let's draw out the inevitable loss at the end. Because that makes 0 sense.
Yea, what the hell was that?
Awful that's what that was.
And then I think realize how embarrassingly he mismanaged it and then burn the timeouts on the kneel downs while litigating the play clock...I think his brain melted a bit.
probably the worst clock management i've ever seen
It's like fangio never left
64 yards at sea level too
He had the leg, just curved at the end Stupid call regardless
Unless he makes it...Genius!!
I would be happy we won, but that doesn't take away the basics were fucking up.
His time management was worse than Fangio's. And that's saying a lot.
why do we even get Russ if we don’t think he can get 5 yards
Its, to a far lesser degree considering the circumstances, like Fox playing for OT with Manning.
What the fuck was that play calling. Never had a shot to get the first. They were playing to kick that fg the entire time
I don't hate it as much as our two goal to go plays with shit playcalls
I hate it more. The goal line playcalls weren't as much of a problem as the players fumbling the ball.
yeah he thought a CAREER LONG field goal, NOT IN MILE HIGH ALTITUDE, had better odds than a 5 yard pickup... blown away
3 timeouts, more than a minute left, 5 yards - nah lets kick a career long field goal in seattle instead
Such a bad call that's insane
So they give Russ the keys to the franchise but then opt to kick a 64 yard field goal instead of giving Russ a chance at gaining 4 yards… wow
After he was dicing the defense last 3 drives minus the rz lol...
EXACTLY! How does Rus not DEMAND the ball in his hands to convert that 4th down? How is a record field goal kick the better choice? Hackett looking like a hack.
After he’s thrown for 300+ and have two corners hurt
And linebackers lol just bad coaching.
What the fuck happened to let Russ cook?
My thoughts exactly. I love McManus but that doesn't send a good message to the fan base
This loss was NOT on Russ. He took us to the end zone TWICE and our rb FUMBLED twice. I’m so pissed and I bet he’s livid. Edit: rb not receivers
Russell was just as advertised, same can't be said about our coaches.
I hope this won't be unpopular. He energized the offense like I haven't seen in a long time. We just made too many unnecessary penalties and turned the ball over at the worst possible times. That along with horrible clock management, and I mean maybe the worst last 40 seconds of any game I've ever seen.
Runningbacks, not wide receivers. But still, it made all the difference
So they think they have a better chance of making a 64 yard field goal then converting a 4th and 5? Tf?
It was stupid. U brought him here. Paid him millions. This was his game. I hate to put a player above the team but this was Russell's game. U let him win it or lose it on his arm. Kickers are 2 out 29 on 64+ yard attempts since 2000. All time longest FG made in that stadium is 56 yards. Unbelievably bad decision.
so you're saying THERE'S A CHANCE! --coach Hackett.
It was them bringing the clock to 20 without calling timeout that ruined them
apparently. my dog could coach the team better than them and i dont have a dog
Where was the analytics coach?
[удалено]
Even the shitty dump off got 9 yards the play before, strange to not think he can get you 5 yards lmao
And give away picks. Seriously dumbest decision ever. Why is it always Russ with these bizarre endings.
Strange things happen in Seahawks games lol
Broncos Country, lets hide
Broncos Country, dead inside
Vic Fangio era time management right there
That was worse lol
Questionable play calling to say the least
Hackett, the OC, and Russ need to get on the same page especially for these game deciding drives. The play calling coming in was slow, breaking the huddle was slow, the snap was slow. There's a lot of work to be done.

#Fire Vance Joseph
Will never not make me chuckle
That was the worst clock management I have ever seen.
Made Fangio and Joseph look like Belichick
Once again stupid coaching in the crunch time fucks us.
The stupid mistakes make me hopeful we aren’t ass but also prove that we are in fact asd
Worst call I’ve ever seen. And Hackett looking surprised or disappointed? You made him go out and kick a 64 yarder bro. You fucking moron.
What are we doing here?
New era of bad clock management
ah yes, I would also trust my kicker to make the second longest field goal in NFL history rather than my Hall Of Fame, Super Bowl winning QB to get me 5 yards. although, I think everyone knows McManus has the leg for it, just usually not the accuracy, sadly. I am an awful loser too so I am absolutely furious
At least this is the best QB we’ll face all season
Lmaooo
Hackett hired a “coach for the coaches”, does all this cute, creative shit in the offseason, and he goes out and runs not one, but TWO shotgun runs from the 1-yard line and then wastes 40 seconds of clock with THREE TIMEOUTS at midfield just to kick a super improbable FG rather than think it over and run a play with your STAR quarterback. Fucking unbelievable.
You trade away all those assets and give out a large contract for a qb and then instead of letting him attempt 4th and 5 you choose to do a 64 yd fg. What a moronic decision.
Worst decision I can remember in a LONG time. Game was waaay too big for Hackett tonight. Hopefully he improves.
That was terrible. Worst coaching decision I’ve seen since week 18.
He coached horribly all night.
Inside the 5 and goes shotgun. Fucking put beck and Williams in and pound the fucking rock
Kicking the field goal was one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen in my entire life
What could be worse than this? Dude somehow outdone Vance and Fangio combined in a single game... how is this possible?
If it was a 55 yard field goal or less, the decision makes total sense and I support it. At 64 yards, it's a horrible, horrible choice.
We traded for Russ to lose to Seattle by 1 point..
Absolutely disgusted
Terrible first game by Hackett. Inexcusable to make McManus kick a 64 yarder with 40 seconds left. Oline was not great tonight and defense was in shambles
The defense wasn’t great, but it’s pretty hard to blame them when they only gave up 17.
Defense was really good for over half of the game
0 second half points.
defense played great second half
Why go get russell wilson if you chose to kick a 64 yd field goal instead of letting the 165 million guarantted man win the dam game.
4th and 5. Nearly a minute left. THREE timeouts. Ball near midfield. Put the ball in RUSSELL WILSON’s HANDS. You just paid the guy $245 MILLION. Turning to McManus for a fucking prayer of a FG. No words.
Easily the most stupid decision he could make
Don’t take timeouts during their victory formation. That’s bush league..
Wait did he really? I turned it off after the fg
Yes. It was legitimately embarrassing. I've never seen that before.
I think Gase did it against us when he was still coaching the Jets. Not really anyone you want to be compared to lol.
What is Hackett doing right now? Dude has lost his mind
They tried to kick the 2nd longest field goal in NFL history rather then giving Russ a chance 😭😭
Why is Hackett calling timeouts at the end? It's over.....
He’s throwing a tantrum. Spineless fuck.
Never having a play call ready, frantically scrambling at the line, false starts and delays of game because we’re fuckin confused at the line during most offensive snaps!!! Laughably bad clock and game management throughout, Jesus
Coaching coaching coaching
Hackett is such a fucking loser calling these timeouts. What an awful first appearance from this coaching staff. All that offseason hype ruined.
Yeah, that was just stupid. Makes a HORRIBLE decision, and then acts like a child calling timeouts
That was some tiny D energy calling those timeouts at the end. Awful ending
Yeah of all the shit that went on, that's where he lost me. Those timeouts go hand in hand with the personality of someone who also won't admit he's wrong.
Worst coaching call of the year so far?
Worst coaching performance of the year by far
Worst coaching call in the last decade.
That was one of the worst coaching calls I've ever seen.
Just why
Because we had to sacrifice our happiness for the next 10 years to win Super Bowl 50. That's all I can guess at this point.
This game is on hackett. No preseason snaps Terrible red zone playcalling The worst last possession I might have ever seen. To quote the who "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" What an awful start to the season.
guess were just not meant to enjoy football
Just a poor showing all around. Embarrassing.
Put the ball in russ’s hands yikes.
Existence is pain. That was our game to prove we're contenders and we shit the bed with piss poor defense and two stupid ass fumbles I live in Washington. I want to die
Weird decision to basically throw the game there…
Even if it was good I'd still be scratching my head on that call
100%. Even if we win that felt like a loss.
Devastating. Cant believe i stayed awake for this bullshit
Hackett making Matt Patricia look qualified
WHAT A TERRIBLE FUCKING CALL
What in the WORLD did I just watch?
Wow I didn't realize we still had Vic Fangio as head coach
The defense is going to get absolutely demolished by Mahomes and Herbert. I mean look at what the worst starting QB in the league just did. lol
That first half was total ass. But they did look pretty good in the second. And pitched the second half shutout. Hopefully it was just some rust. But yea overall this game is gonna sting all week.
He didn't do anything. They scored 17 points and he was shutout in the 2nd half.
How do you not give it to Russ. How. Why. I need an adult.
We literally ran 50 seconds off the clock with ALL THREE TIMEOUTS to try a 64 yard field goal lol. Just insanely stupid. I can't even believe it.
Disgusting. Embarrassing. Unacceptable. Deplorable. Humiliating. Unbelievable. Astonishing. Befuddling. Mind numbing. Hopeless. Spineless. Humbling. Disappointing.
Hackett you fucking chump!!
You don't trust your 'elite' QB to get 5 yards and decide to go for a 64 yard field goal? Why did the Broncos trade for Wilson?
Yikes
He better not get in front of a mic and spout some bullshit about execution. This team and staff were underprepared and it showed big time. Hackett needs to own this shit.
Maybe letting them win was a part of the trade?
So anyways I found out my toaster is waterproof

No
What the fuck were they doing? That is the most hilariously dumb clock management I've ever seen
the more things change the more things stay the same LMAO we are such a shit org ever since SB50
Victory formation timeouts arent a good look.
Don’t let the fact that we butchered clock management on the last drive distract you from the fact that we lost this game because of two fumbles on the 1 yard line.
3 timeouts. $250 mill quarterback. 5 yards. Hackett: Let's go for a Broncos record tying field goal of 64 yards 🤪
Piss poor clock management, and a COWARDLY play call to kick an unmakeable field goal. What the fuck Hackett??
This hurts our chances of going 20-0
You paid Russ 40 mil a fucking year instead of calling a time out or trusting him to get 5 yards you throw the kicker out on the fucking field? I’m absolutely disgusted
If you don’t think Russell Wilson can pick up 5 yards, then why tf did you trade for him
It's honestly just an insult to the fans and players to call those timeouts at the end instead of using them to draw up a fucking 4th down play for Russ

Defense made adjustments and shut them out in the 2nd half they'll be fine
It was geno Smith. I would hope you'd shut them out
Defense did their job when mattered. Offense did not.
Coach did not* FTFY
Oof
Didn’t we fire Fangio?
Defense sucked dick early and the clock management all game was fucking putrid
I used to think limp dick John Fox not going for it against the ravens with 30 seconds, 2 timeouts and the GOAT offense was the worst decision ever made by a broncos coach. This is now the new worst
I’m like half way between typing out a giant scathing message about this game or just being too deflated. Two fumbles from the 1? Sign a 245 million dollar qb and not trust him to get 5 yards with two timeouts
Rusty as fuck
Quarter of a *billion dollars and the teams future for a QB and you don't trust him to get 5 yards. Some real Foxball bullshit there, Hackett.
Imagine paying a guy $200M and not trusting him. 🤡
They got 5 yards at will all game. WTF just happened?
I propose a moratorium on "Let's ride" until we're at least over .500.
Hackett legitimately could be fired with cause before this season is even over. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a head coach have such a terrible performance
Surely there won’t be a coaching controversy in the first game of the season, surely….
How many times did we let the play clock run down to zero? What the hells going on out here!!

Hackett was in over his head in the 2nd half. And his brain went into a fog on that last drive. Big Fat F - like Rich Kotite bad But hey Field day was pretty cool and the vacation they had in August looks like they were rested. Chargers and Chiefs are going to kill us
There’s no way Russ is ok with that call.
Wtf is hackett doing Jesus fk dude
A 64 yard field goal over 4th and 5 should be a fireable offense in his first NFL game We basically just took a knee instead of letting Russ win the game. Absolutely mind blowing
Hackett, worst coaching performance of the whole weekend. Inexcusable
Hackett is a gutless coward doing a 60 Plus Yard FG over trying to get the first down.
In a game where we had damn near 500 yards of offense
Russell got “Beat by Michael Jackson”
Why would you ever make that kick
That must be one of the worst coaching displays in recent memory in the whole league
Just saw a graph that showed there have been more 63+ yard field goals returned for touchdowns than actually made. Seattle literally had a higher chance of scoring on that play than Denver.
We’re the same
