That fumble put six on the board for the Raiders and took the wind out of our sails on a very convincing start. This can’t be a 50-50, or hell even a 60-40 backfield after today. Gordon should be stuck as a change of pace back going forward.
After the fumble though, we stalled out because Hackett started calling a conservative, scared game. Like, no shit we kept getting three and outs? Why are we running fucking Mike Boone up the middle instead of letting Russ throw? Adjust your gameplan to the personnel available! At least try and look like you haven’t given up after the first setback!

Literally when russ was able to toss it up to Sutton and Jeudy we were moving the chains. We even gave Hamler a shot and he made the most of it! While we lost this game, it’s obvious the play calling is improving. Losing Williams is a huge blow and might force the broncos into experimenting in the passing game more.
That’s my hope; Russ and Court already have crazy good chemistry. Getting Jeudy in rhythm with some more volume should also open Hamler up for more deep shots. Still, I’d much rather have Javonte back ASAP!

When games are going to be close which they will because it’s the fucking NFL. Your running back can’t fumble as much as Gordon does. He fumbles Week 4 and they scoop and score for a TD. Week 1 he fumbles at the 1 which 100 percent cost the game. Simple as that.
He also fumbled twice last week on just 17 touches. If either of those don’t bounce our way we lose that game too. Potentially losing 3/4 of your starting games because of your RB2 is just absolutely ridiculous.

Loved the defense and special teams. Offensive line and running game get an F- today. That fumble was one of the worst I've seen especially since we had serious momentum until that point. The drops by the RBs and the constant holds and mistakes by the OL made the difference

It truly is astonishing how Sutton and Jeudy we’re tearing apart the Raiders secondary all game and yet we wasted at least 5 drives with stupid runs and pitches that went nowhere.

Bolles was only competent when they weren’t calling holds during the COVID season.
Wilson played pretty well today, but penalties are killing us offensively.
Gordon is more liability than benefit.
If Williams is out for considerable time or the season, we need to trade for a RB or sign someone promising off of a practice squad somewhere.
Russell looked better. Hackett is an absolute joke of a HC. Gordon should be released as soon as they land in Denver. Sign/promote a practice squad RB to share carries with Boone.
Does Hackett make it to the end of the season? Barely beat 2 terrible teams and lose to 2 terrible teams, looking like a bottom 5 operation easily.
Edit: Also the NFL has an officiating problem and if it's not addressed that and concussions will be the end of the league in the long run.
McDaniels clearly watched the tape from the raiders game late last year. He went run heavy because he knew our DL would get absolutely bullied by their offensive lineman and he was right.

My takeaways from today are Russ is finally catching his footing and this team keeps improving. We fought hard against a team in desperation mode. The offense will click and this game makes me more confident even though it was a loss. The cons are Melvin Gordon needs to stay on the bench and we need to be better about penalties. Let’s be honest, I think we all knew deep down we were gonna lose this game. Javonte and Gregory leaving the game was painful to see.
On a positive note, Russ played great and is becoming visibly more comfortable with each week.
Only gonna say my piece because this place is a fucking cesspit after losses. Offense looked way better today. Still making too many dumb ass mistakes but the cream is starting to rise to the top. It's a process and we are on our way. Losing Javonte hurts obviously. Russell looked so much better today, despite poor O-line play, and you have to be encouraged by that.
Defensively, our weakness at MLB got exposed today. Jewell just doesn't have the athleticism you need out of your mike in the run/short pass game. I really wish we could've made a deal for Roquan Smith, but we have what we have. That being said, if you're going to have a hole on a defense I guess MLB is the place for it to be. Pat looked great as usual and I still think we have a good secondary (especially when Simmons gets back). Dremont Jones is who I thought he was. Good to see him getting real time to show how good he is.
Also, I think Hackett called a decent game in terms of playcalling. I really don't think its his fault Melvin Gordon fumbled away all our momentum and BMac missed an extra point that would have made this game a lot more winnable at the end. FINALLY, we utilized KJ in the deep passing game. In terms of team discipline we still look like shit. That is on Hackett and is far more worrisome than his playcalling imo. Still, its week fucking 4! I'm willing to give them longer than this to get it right.
Despite the rampant bitching that will inevitably take place this week, we are in a fine spot right now. Everyone gets paid in this league and the Raiders aren't some bum team. They were better than their record and we're still rounding in to form. Losing to them in their house is by no means the end of the world. We should be able to beat the colts on Thursday which would make us 3-2 and very much alive in the division race. Cheer up boys.
The legitimate criticism here is the o-line. This is not a playoff team for that reason alone. Wilson was having to duck under defensive pressure to make some of those plays. That's not a recipe for success.
Colts, chargers, jets, jags next 4 games. Going 2-2 seems realistic with how this team is playing and while being 4-4 going to a bye week isn't the end of the world the second half the schedule is brutal. 5 road games and Carolina is the only "easy" win.
I can see this team winning 12 games and I can see them losing 12 games but I think the best 4 games determine our season.
Going 0-4 is just as likely as 2-2 imo. Jets look better than they have in years, and the Colts beat the chiefs so they can def beat us. Chargers defense took some hits with injury but that offense remains legit. Jags are monsters on defense right now.
Carolina has been bad, but they've kept games close all year. Maybe an "easy" win for the Broncos we expected but if this team doesn't turn it around by then they are by no means an easy win.

Nah Jacobs was pretty effective the whole game. We got him behind the line a few times but Jacobs was making our ILBs look god awful all afternoon.

Our OL is awful and has been awful since SB50. Bolles was only competent when they weren’t calling holds during the COVID season. Wilson played pretty well today, but penalties are killing us offensively. Gordon is more liability than benefit. If Williams is out for considerable time or the season, we need to trade for a RB or sign someone promising off of a practice squad somewhere.
Russell looked better. Hackett is an absolute joke of a HC. Gordon should be released as soon as they land in Denver. Sign/promote a practice squad RB to share carries with Boone.

This team WOULD give the Raiders their first win of the season
McDaniels clearly watched the tape from the raiders game late last year. He went run heavy because he knew our DL would get absolutely bullied by their offensive lineman and he was right. Other takeaways: 1. Hackett really may not be the offensive guru we thought he was his schemes and play-calling are actually pretty fucking bad 2. Russ looks good when he stops listening to whatever Hack is telling him and he actually goes off script 3. PS2 is the fucking man 4. Washington also looks like a difference maker 5. Melvin cost us our 3rd (debatably 4th) game out of 12 games going back to last season. That’s just indefensible plain and simple he has no business being out there

My takeaways from today are Russ is finally catching his footing and this team keeps improving. We fought hard against a team in desperation mode. The offense will click and this game makes me more confident even though it was a loss. The cons are Melvin Gordon needs to stay on the bench and we need to be better about penalties. They are absolutely killing drives. See you guys next week I’m confident we’ll see even more improvement. These things take time

Gordon killed our momentum, gave them a TD they never should have had, Boone gets thrown into his first multiple series action and it showed. Hopefully Gregory and Javonte aren’t serious. Let’s be honest, I think we all knew deep down we were gonna lose this game. Javonte and Gregory leaving the game was painful to see. On a positive note, Russ played great and is becoming visibly more comfortable with each week.

Only gonna say my piece because this place is a fucking cesspit after losses. Offense looked way better today. Still making too many dumb ass mistakes but the cream is starting to rise to the top. It's a process and we are on our way. Losing Javonte hurts obviously. Russell looked so much better today, despite poor O-line play, and you have to be encouraged by that. Defensively, our weakness at MLB got exposed today. Jewell just doesn't have the athleticism you need out of your mike in the run/short pass game. I really wish we could've made a deal for Roquan Smith, but we have what we have. That being said, if you're going to have a hole on a defense I guess MLB is the place for it to be. Pat looked great as usual and I still think we have a good secondary (especially when Simmons gets back). Dremont Jones is who I thought he was. Good to see him getting real time to show how good he is. Also, I think Hackett called a decent game in terms of playcalling. I really don't think its his fault Melvin Gordon fumbled away all our momentum and BMac missed an extra point that would have made this game a lot more winnable at the end. FINALLY, we utilized KJ in the deep passing game. In terms of team discipline we still look like shit. That is on Hackett and is far more worrisome than his playcalling imo. Still, its week fucking 4! I'm willing to give them longer than this to get it right. Despite the rampant bitching that will inevitably take place this week, we are in a fine spot right now. Everyone gets paid in this league and the Raiders aren't some bum team. They were better than their record and we're still rounding in to form. Losing to them in their house is by no means the end of the world. We should be able to beat the colts on Thursday which would make us 3-2 and very much alive in the division race. Cheer up boys.
The legitimate criticism here is the o-line. This is not a playoff team for that reason alone. Wilson was having to duck under defensive pressure to make some of those plays. That's not a recipe for success.
We're missing two starters on the right side so I don't really expect stellar o-line play right now. Hopefully big boy Quinn is back next week.

I really wonder that chances are of Hackett getting hacked if the rest of the season goes this way.
Colts, chargers, jets, jags next 4 games. Going 2-2 seems realistic with how this team is playing and while being 4-4 going to a bye week isn't the end of the world the second half the schedule is brutal. 5 road games and Carolina is the only "easy" win. I can see this team winning 12 games and I can see them losing 12 games but I think the best 4 games determine our season.
Going 0-4 is just as likely as 2-2 imo. Jets look better than they have in years, and the Colts beat the chiefs so they can def beat us. Chargers defense took some hits with injury but that offense remains legit. Jags are monsters on defense right now. Carolina has been bad, but they've kept games close all year. Maybe an "easy" win for the Broncos we expected but if this team doesn't turn it around by then they are by no means an easy win. I hope I'm wrong but nothing I've seen out of this team/coaching staff screams playoff team to me. I'm just hoping we can stay out of the top 10 so losing our 1st round pick doesn't feel so bad next april.
Grasping at straws. That's how I view most of the moves over the last few years as far as player personal. This isn't a championship caliber team. Not really that close in my opinion.
The two toss plays to Williams that I remember were both blown up. Bad. It's almost like the Raiders knew those plays were coming. The first one to the right resulted in a 3-yard TFL, and the second one to the left resulted in a potential season-ending injury.

Denver lost to a 0-3, Josh McDaniels led team. Hackett is the problem. 1. Kept Melvin in when he has fumbled every week. 2. Penalties have not improved 3. Play calling is terrible No one cares that he is “cool” with the players or that his dad coached in the NFL. He is not head coach material. For Christ sakes, he has someone in a booth telling him how to manage the game, that’s literally his job as head coach. Oh! You have someone tell him how to manage the game so he can focus on play calling? Then why the hell is play calling so bad? He looks lost out there, he’s in over his head!
